Dr. Mahmoud Ashrafi is a board certified pediatric Dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry with over 30 years of experience in all aspects of pediatric dentistry, dentofacial orthopedics, and early orthodontic treatment.
Upon graduation from Eastman Dental Center and University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1977, Dr. Ashrafi accepted the faculty position at Marquette University and spent five years in full time teaching and practice in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He relocated to Rochester, New York, in 1983, practiced Pediatric Dentistry, taught part time at Eastman Dental Center and University of Rochester until 1995, and then moved to Northern California.
He is a recipient of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Graduate Student Research award, and has numerous scientific publications in national and international dental journals. He is a clinical Professor of Pediatric Dentistry in the Department of Orofacial Science at the University of California in San Francisco.
During dental school at UCLA, Dr. Mahmoodi enjoyed treating her pediatric patients because each visit was an opportunity to promote good oral hygiene to a young population that is capable of quickly developing healthy habits. She went on to complete her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at Loma Linda University, where she gained experience in the full breadth of pediatric dental care, including treating patients with special needs. She welcomes the opportunity to continue serving children and adolescents with medically complex conditions.
Dr. Mahmoodi is also a recipient of the 2018 Richard C. Pugh Achievement Award for scoring in the top 3% on the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry Qualifying Exam. When she is not counting teeth and catching sugar bugs, she enjoys cooking, singing karaoke, and spending time with her husband and their puppy.

Amazing service and people ! The nurses went out of their way to really help me with getting my twin boys into the building as well as getting their teeth cleaned! I love coming to this place ! Highly recommend!

Everyone at Canyon Pediatric Dentistry are truly wonderful. My 2 boys have been seeing Dr. Ashrafi for over 2 years and Dr. Ashrafi has been great with them. Recently, my older son had to get 2 of this teeth extracted due to new ones coming in from behind. My son has autism and was getting very anxious. Dr. Ashrafi and Dr. Mahmoodi were so patient with my son and helped him get comfortable with the procedure and tools being used. I greatly appreciate both of them for their time, patience and expertise.

I had a great experience in this clinic. Kind and caring staff and really clean environment. Special Thanks to Dr. Roya for explaining every other things she did and being pretty gentle. She is the one that makes you interested in oral hygiene.

Dr. Ashrafi and the team at Canyon Pediatric Dentistry are incredible. They provide and fun, warm, and welcome environment for the kids while also ensuring that the upmost care is provided. And they have patience! Both of my kids started going when they were just 2 years old, the team gave them certificates and pictures on their first days that we will keep forever! They helped my daughter work through her fears of having her teeth cleaned with such patience and care, even though it took about 4 times for her to be at ease. We continued to stay with Canyon Pediatric even after a move made our commute time over an hour, because they are just that wonderful. The office is always very clean, and the staff is always nice. And I don't know how the Doctors have done it, but they have made it so my kids want to brush their teeth and floss. I would give more stars if I could, they deserve them.

My twins have seen Dr. Ashrafi since they were 4 and we love the staff there. Everyone is very nice, personable and offer great tips for taking care of kids who are learning to brush and floss. They are very gentle and explain the process to the kids before getting started. They have an excellent team.

My step-son was terrified of the dentist before his first visit, but Dr. Ashrafi and his staff were patient with him and eased his fears. Now he's so at ease during his cleanings I don't even need to be in the exam room! This will be our dental home for years to come.

I have been coming to Dr. Ashrafi's since I was 10 years old (I am now 22) and have always been extremely impressed by his dental work. He explains everything to you very clearly and always details how you can improve your dental hygiene with some easy solutions. He is a great pediatric dentist, with a great staff and an amazing office. I always love walking in and catching up with Kathy at the front desk, Dr. Ashrafi, and Mary (RDA), and I highly recommend you see them in San Ramon with your kids.

I've been coming to Dr. Ashrafi for over 10 years and every visit has been a pleasure. On top of being an excellent Dentist, he is also just a fun and enthusiastic person which makes the typically dreaded dentist appointment actually enjoyable. The staff is extremely friendly and on top of things as well and it shows as most visits go by very quickly. A+ in my book!
