We might be kind of biased in saying this, but we think we have the best dental team around. Although were kind of a mixed bag of personalities and backgrounds, we have a great time working together and believe we can provide patients with the best dental care to be found anywhere. Heres a little information about us to help you get to know us better before your first visit.
Dr. Nick Young was born in Provo and has lived in the area for most of his life. While growing up he attended Westridge Elementary, Dixon Middle School, and Provo High. After high school he served a mission in Lima, Peru where he spent most of his time living in small coastal villages south of Lima. He still uses his Spanish nearly every day at work and loves Hispanic cultures and meeting people from South and Central America. Dr. Young graduated magna cum laude with a biology degree from BYU and then attended dental school at the University of Louisville where he graduated in 2009. Dr. Young met his wife Heather at church in a BYU singles ward and the two have been married since 2004. They currently live in Vineyard and have three children. Dr. Youngs favorite thing to do outside of work is play with his kids, especially when it involves helping them learn to play sports. Dr. Young loves taking about football, basketball, baseball, and golf with patients, and hes a loyal/fanatical BYU, Jazz, 49ers, and Redsox fan. If hes not watching or playing sports, Dr. Young enjoys shooting guns, grilling and smoking food, learning about random things to make him better at Jeopardy, and anything that involves competition. Dr. Young loves his job and especially likes helping people get out of pain and seeing them go from hiding their teeth to showing them off.
Gaby has been working in dentistry since 2007 and has been with Canyon Gate Dental since 2015. She keeps us all on task and is our communications expert, being fluent in both English and Spanish. Gaby loves meeting new people and once you get to know her, youll feel like shes your best friend in the office. She keeps our patients informed about treatment, finances, and pretty much every other detail they need to know when they come to our office. When shes not in the office, Gaby loves to hang out with her two kids.
When we have a question about dentistry, dental insurance, or anything remotely related to teeth and gums, LaDean is the first person we ask. She has been in dentistry since 1978 and is proficient in both front office and in clinical settings. She has been with us since 2015 and we feel really lucky to have her on our team. LaDean always keeps us informed and entertained. When you get to know her, youll appreciate her wit and kindness, but watch out if you are a dental insurance company trying to pull a fast one on one of our patients. LaDean has an amazing talent and passion for working with insurance companies on your behalf and helping them honor their contracts. LaDean loves the outdoors, crafting, and visiting her five cute granddaughters. She also seeks out anything challenging; it is the multiple challenges of working in a dental office that have made her love the dental industry for so many years.
Julie joined us in 2017 and has been working in the dental front offices since 2015. That doesnt mean shes a rookie though; she has experience working in psychology and optometry offices, and as a school teacher. Julie is a quick study and can juggle several tasks at once due to her amazing organizational skills. She is the mastermind behind our daily schedule and is largely responsible for things running smoothly and timely, which is no small feat. When shes not at work, Julie loves to garden and travel. She lived in North Carolina for most of her adult life and loves the East. She and her husband have three great children.
Brette has been a hygienist since 2011 and part of the Canyon Gate Dental family since 2013. She has been married since 2009 to her husband Kade, who is a police officer. Brette and Kade have one child, Marcus, who is both amazingly cute and amazingly large for his age (hes on pace to be the next Shaq). Brette loves to travel and some of her favorite places include Italy, Cabo St. Lucas, Disneyland, and any cruise to an exotic locale. Brettes favorite part of being a hygienist is meeting new people and getting to know them.
Jentry joined our office right after graduating from hygiene school in 2016 where she finished at the top of her class. Shes been around dentistry for much longer though, and worked as a dental assistant starting in 2011. Jentry loves to travel, hang out with her husband and other family, work out, hike, bike, and bake. If you want to get on her good side before a cleaning, a gift of ice cream will work 100% of the time. Among her many talents, Jentry has proven herself to be an excellent teacher; she enjoys teaching patients how to improve their oral health.
Jen has been an assistant since 2001 and has worked in our office since 2012. Jen loves dentistry and is almost ready to attend dental school. In her time with us, weve seen Jen get married and have three kids. Jen is our rock; we depend on her to do a lot of things in the office and she is extremely skilled in all areas of dentistry. When shes not working, being a mom/wife, or working on her dental school prerequisite courseswhich is not often!Jen likes to spend her time outdoors. She loves riding horses, camping, and hunting. Bonus detail: underneath the hunter in Jen is a Disney princess; the four firearms she owns all have a pink camo finish!
Bri has worked as an assistant since 2013 and has been with Canyon Gate Dental since 2015. She loves dentistry and will soon be attending hygiene school. Bri has a talent and passion for helping people who are anxious or in pain and she keeps all of us calm even when things get hectic and busy in the office. One of her career goals is to do regular humanitarian dental trips. When shes not improving smiles, you can bet Bri is somewhere out in nature with her husband Cody and her dog Sawyer. She loves camping, hiking, driving her side-by-side, or pretty much anything else that involves being outdoors.
Stephanie has been an assistant since 2015 and has worked at Canyon Gate Dental since 2017. She is from Atlanta and loves all things Southern. She is learning Spanish and ASL and enjoys reading, running, cooking, baking, and making bath bombs. We love Stephanie for both her Georgia girl sass and her Southern hospitality. Nobody loves chatting with, and making our guests feel comfortable in our office as much as Stephanie. Her favorite part of her job is helping people get out of pain and become more confident as they become healthier.

All x-rays taken at Canyon Gate Dental are digital, which minimizes your radiation exposure and allows us to be more accurate in our diagnosis. We offer same-day crowns using revolutionary CEREC technology that makes multiple visits, temporary crowns, and messy impressions a thing of the past. Electric dental instruments are superior to the traditional air-driven instruments and result in better dental work and less irritation to your teeth during treatment. We believe in and practice evidence-based dentistry, which is to say that we are constantly learning about new materials and treatment techniques, and adapting to new advances in dentistry.

I recently moved to Utah County and was in need of a dentist. Luckily, I was referred to Dr. Young. He's a fantastic dentist! Thorough, professional and friendly. His staff are all helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Canyon Gate Dental!

Worst Emergency Dental I have had a severe toothache for a few days now and was suggested here as an emergency dentist. I called early Saturday morning (8am 6/18), and got sent to the voicemail of the on call dentist. It is currently 8pm 6/19 and I have yet to receive a call back, ending with me taking a trip to the ER for pain meds while I wait for my regular dentist to become available. Please don't offer emergency dental services on your answering machine if they are no longer offered.

Dr. Young and his whole staff are THE BEST! They know our whole family so well, and genuinely care about each of us! Thank you for being so helpful! They are so great at communication, and remind me of appointments via text and sometimes an extra text (necessary bc of my forgetfulness)! I appreciate them so much! Emily & Nat are my peeps!! The best!!! Oh, and Dr. Young even plays along with my dumb reels and social media posts! He's hilarious!

I had a great experience at Canyon Gate Dental! Good, friendly people. Good vibes at the office. They even gave me two flosses, a proxabrush, and a chapstick! I actually could use some chapstick. I'm looking forward to going back!

Absolutely do not trust this dentist as both my husband and I had negative experiences there. In the summer of 2020, we chose to schedule with this office rather than our regular dentist as our regular dentist had a tight schedule due to prior COVID closures. I guess it should've been a red flag right away that while other offices were well-booked, this office had plenty of openings. My experience wasn't as bad as my husband's, but they left the cavity sealant rough and to the point that it was chipping off. I didn't realize this while at the office since I was numb and had to return the same day once I did realize. My husband's experience was much worse. The dentist told him he had several cavities that needed work and which would need work over the course of several appointments. My husband did not fulfill all of these appointments luckily because one of the fillings that this office did ended up going rotten inside and becoming extremely painful in under six months and had to be redone by our regular dentist. Furthermore, when my husband returned to our regular dentist, the dentist told him that he did not see additional cavities that needed filled, despite this office having claimed that there were. This was already a negative enough experience, but I recently called regarding a bill for these services. When I called about the insurance coverage, the office told me that the insurance did not cover one of the fillings done on my husband because it had previously been done. When I asked why this office redid that filling (my husband didn't have any tooth pain or noticeable concerns with it, unlike the fillings that this office did), they simply said since it was our first appointment there, they didn't have his history. Regardless, they should be able to have enough know-how and integrity to be able to determine whether a filling genuinely needs to be done. If you want to avoid unnecessary dental work as well as poorly done dental work, I would definitely recommend going elsewhere.

We were regulars at Canyon Gate Dental with our kids and thought they were a great dental office. When Covid hit they decided to charge each patient $15 per visit and failed to let their patients know this before hand. After a cleaning the receptionist let me know that I would be charged $15 extra for the visit. I told her that I had never been informed this and she pointed to a little sign they had made that was sitting on their desk. I told her that they had texted me 4 separate times prior to my appointment, once to inform me that I needed to bring my own mask - why couldn't they have informed me of the additional fee in any of those texts? She had little to say so I paid the fee. The dentist (Dr Young) called my husband after he had called to complain and told him that he was sorry about us not being told before hand but that he wouldn't give us back the $15. We called Maughan Dentistry in Orem (because of their awesome reviews) to see if they were charging a Covid fee and they said "Absolutely not. We'll swallow the cost before we charge our patients." So of course we switched over to them and have had great service since. The insurance ended up covering the cost, but the dishonesty that we felt had taken place was concerning. It made us wonder what else they were dishonest about.

Truly this has been one of the best dental teams you could ask for!!!!
