Dr. Chris Freed earned his dental degree from the University of Iowa in 2008. Prior to dental school, he completed his undergraduate education with honors, achieving a Bachelor of Science in microbiology. He continues to undergo extensive continuing education to remain on the cutting edge of dentistry, including courses through Spears Education, and has received advanced training in IV sedation and dental implants. He has been a previous member of the American Dental Association and the South Dakota Dental Association.

Following dental school, he served as a navy dentist for four years and has been practicing in southeastern South Dakota for over five years. He is proud to offer all aspects of dentistry and help families develop and maintain healthy dentition. Dr. Freed strives to provide the most advanced, state-of-the-art dentistry and best possible craftsmanship. He does all aspects of dentistry, including root canals, oral surgery, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry.

Dr. Wiebe grew up in Canton, South Dakota, and graduated from Canton High School. He completed his undergraduate degree at USD in Vermillion, where he majored in biology. He earned his dental education at UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska, and graduated in May 2016. While at school, he did mission clinics, sharing clinics and pediatric outreach programs, as well as enjyoing watching the Cornhuskers play football. He had a pediatric dental clinic externship and two rotations here at Canton Dental Clinic, where he gained invaluable experience working with Dr. Schulte and Dr. Pranke. In the summer of 2016, Dr. Wiebe came back to Canton to join Canton Dental Clinic.

In his free time, Dr. Wiebe likes to golf, bowl, ski, hunt and fish, but most of all, he loves to spend time with his small family. Dr. Wiebe got married to his wife, Brittany, from Rock Valley, Iowa, in 2020. They have one daughter named Hollis, who was born in January 2021. Together, they like to spend time with relatives, go for boat rides, and camp and fish out by the Missouri River.

Dr. Wiebe enjoys all aspects of dentistry, developing relationships with families, and helping them achieve and maintain a healthy dentition. He continues his education every year with seminars, classes and postgraduate school in order to maintain and enhance his dental knowledge. His goal is to perform excellent dentistry in a gentle and caring way.

Dr. Pranke was raised in the rural community of Newman Grove, Nebraska, and completed undergraduate studies at Wayne State College. She earned her dental degree at the UNMC College of Dentistry. As a student at UNMCs College of Dentistry, she was actively involved as a Nebraska Student Dental Association (NSDA) officer, allowing her to represent UNMC at many national conferences. She volunteered her clinical dental skills at People Citys Mission Medical Clinic in Lincoln and the Nebraska Mission of Mercy clinics. She also participated in a dental mission trip in Panahuara, Peru. In March of 2015, she completed an externship at Canton Dental Clinic and enjoyed getting acquainted with the clinic, patients and community.

As a dentist, her passion is creating smiles for her patients to be proud of, caring for her patients oral health and watching their families grow as a part of our practice. She does all aspects of dentistry, including orthodontics, root canals, surgery, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, and she also loves working with children. As a general dentist, she loves to provide orthodontic treatment for her patients. She continues her education by attending classes several times a year. She has completed extensive continuing education courses for traditional orthodontic, as well as Invisalign and ClearCorrect.

Dr. Pranke, her husband, Steven, and son, Tucker, enjoy living in Canton and being part of a smaller community. As a family, they enjoy traveling, camping, being outdoors and spending time with family. Laura also enjoys cooking new foods and trying new restaurants.

In January 2017, Dr. Gordon Schulte sold Canton Dental Clinic to Dr. Chris Freed, and in April 2017, he retired from practice. We thank him for his expertise and many years of service in Canton, South Dakota, and surrounding areas, and wish him well as he moves into the next phase of his life.
