A native of Hendersonville, Dr. Merrell graduated from West Henderson High School.He earned a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry.After completing his dental training, he worked at the Surry County Health and Nutrition Center in Dobson, NC while his wife completed medical school and residency training at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.Dr. Merrell opened his private practice in Hendersonville, North Carolina, in 2006.In his spare time, Dr. Merrell enjoys, golf, basketball, hiking, snow skiing and movies.

I loved hygienist,Venelle, I seen today. She was great! My gums and mouth are not sore today, like sometimes when I have my teeth cleaned. She gave me a lot of helpful information.

I'm so glad I found this dentist since I'm new to the area. By far the best I have ever been to. Professional and no high pressure or shaming. The dental hygienist (Janelle?) is the best explaining everything that she is doing and why. Very informative. No waiting, no stress. Highly recommend.

Great place! The staff are very kind and my hygienist Jenelle was awesome! She explained everything she was doing which made the whole experience very comfortable. I'm so thrilled I found this practice and my family will continue going here for any dental care.

I never post reviews but this facility deserves recognition for professionalism, good time management and care for patients. I called yesterday morning requesting information about some things and a staff member that I spoke with kept me updated on my request and by the next morning, I had my answer. In a time where medical services may not be as high quality, I was impressed with this dental office. I HIGHLY recommend them.

My dental hygienist was AMAZING! Kim was friendly, and caring. The retired dentist who filled in was very rough and wasn't wearing a mask while examining my teeth. I hope I don't see him again.

The receptionist here is on point and friendly. They not only take x rays of your teeth but in depth photos to show you , which is very helpful ! ( i love details) The price is fair and reasonable.and they accept care credit . The hygienist is very knowledgeable about the uses and history of toothpaste and mouthwash and how teeth work.

I recently changed dental plans and and Lorie helped me in making the transition smooth. The whole staff is outstanding . Candler Family Dentistry has been taking care of me for about a year now. Just had a cleaning done, and it was a great experience. Wait time was only about 5 minutes, and the cleaning itself was quick and painless.
