Gum disease can be very destructive in the mouth. If it is allowed to progress, it can even result in the loss of teeth and bone. So it is very important to prevent gum disease or to have it treated as quickly as possible if it has already occurred.

There are surgical procedures that our dentist in Canarsie Family Dentistry can perform if periodontal disease is more advanced. A pocket reduction can be performed when bone and tissue have been destroyed and pockets form.

If periodontal disease has progressed to the point where teeth are lost, there are methods that can be used to restore those lost teeth. Dental implants are effective when a single tooth is gone. The implant will anchor into the gum and replace the missing tooth. Implants are very secure and durable, functioning in the same way that a natural tooth would. If gum disease was severe enough to cause the destruction of several teeth, then a partial fixed bridge will be put in place, attaching to crowns that will be applied to the teeth on either side of where the missing teeth were located.

Our periodontist atCanarsie Family Dentistry has various ways to help you with periodontic treatments. Once your gums have been restored to a healthy condition, continued visits to the dental office will help to stabilize that condition and maintain strong, healthy teeth as well.

The goal of our dentists is to preserve your teeth your whole life. However, there are circumstances when pulling a tooth is the better option. Turn to our tooth removal dentist at Canarsie Family Dentistry for pain-free extractions.

Canarsie Family Dental offers you a positive and comfortable experience with wisdom teeth removal and dental extractions. We provide dental services at our tranquil and relaxing office for residents of Canarsie and all the surrounding areas.

Wisdom Teeth Removal without PainOur general and family dentist wants you to know that tooth extractions do not cause pain when handled in a professional manner. Feel confident that our dentist does everything to make you comfortable, starting with anesthesia. We offer both local and general anesthesia for extractions.

Dental Extractions Only when NecessaryThere are good reasons why it is better for your oral health to remove a tooth. Of course, our preference is to preserve it, but if the condition of the tooth demands extraction, we will do so. The following conditions may warrant removing your tooth:

Common Reasons for Wisdom Tooth RemovalWisdom tooth removal is one of the common reasons our dentist would extract one or more of your teeth. It is often the case that one or more wisdom teeth do not come in completely. In addition, wisdom teeth are frequently impacted and crowded together by other teeth.

It could be that they have come in partway and there is a flap of skin over them, creating painful gums. The teeth could also be infected, or they might be damaged by decay. When there are problems with your wisdom teeth, trust our dentist to determine the problem and take corrective action, which could include extraction. Our office accepts most insurances and offers CareCredit.

I DON'T recommend coming here, they are very unprofessional, they'll will try to charge way extra money for things you don't even need done. I went to get my wisdom tooth taken out they wanted to take the 4 of them, when I just needed one taken out. They just did and X-ray and base on that they try to treat me without even checking. 1/10

Paula was assigned to me and she did a terrific job with my teeth. She cleaned them thoroughly without any damage at all. The process was smooth, well pace, no rush, impeccable. I almost fell asleep. Part of it has to do with her personality. She is kind, caring, and compassionate. No doubt these personal attributes were reflected in the care she provided to me. I'm looking forward to coming back again in 6 months, without a second thought.

Today was my 1st and last time coming to this dentist. The front desk people don't wanna do they job. The rest of the workers don't know how to, even if they tried. I had to get my X-ray done over not once, not twice, but three times. Then was told to go back to (small) waiting area cause they let someone skip me due to how long the worker took. My appointment was at 1:30 my cleaning didn't start til 3:00. I just got my cleaning & left. Came in pain left in pain.

The services at horrible. During covid-19 they have many appointments and not everyone are wearing masks. This isn't safe for our health. Had root cancel and crown and it came out in less than two months. The front desk staffs are horrible and they always have attitudes.

I've been coming to this dentist office for a while as well as my family. I recently went in early February and was greeted by two of the nastiest, rudest and disgusting receptionist. Two Spanish speaking girls. One actually stated " she is so annoying I told her yesterday her insurance wasn't working." Behind the desk as if I was deaf and couldn't hear. The other one decided to feed off her energy and decided that I didn't have insurance and was wasting their time. They were very unpleasant and unprofessional. Meanwhile I triple check and my insurance was active. They refused to call and check. I asked to speak with the manager and she actually called and confirm my insurance was active so both of the receptionist stood there looking very STUPID AND UNEDUCATED. The assistant dentist was also very rude when I asked her why I needed such and such procedures as if I went to dentistry school. She made me feel like a burden as if she is paying me to be there. The actually dentist is a great guy and the xray technician was great unfortunately due to the nasty and unprofessional staff I will not ever ever return here for services and neither will my family. These receptionists should be fire and replaced with people who have home training and have some type of education. This place is ghetto and messy would not recommend. If you want to get treated with respect and dignity, there are other dentists in Canarsies who provide great smiles with a warm experience.

The receptionist, xray technician and hygienist were great. But I avoid using this dentist because of the aggressive Invisalign salesperson. Both times I've been here she glanced at my perfectly straight teeth (dentist have even commented on how straight my teeth are) for maybe five seconds then declared, "you need Invisaligns". I knew from last time she would then begin trying to scare me with all the horrible problems I'll have in the future if I don't pay thousands of dollars for something I don't need so I cut her off. She still had to get in one last bit of fear mongering as she went out the door about how I'll be in pain in a few years (she does this every time and no, I am not in any pain) if I don't get expensive plastic braces and that made me so annoyed I'm writing this review. This is someone getting a commission for Invisalign sales, not a dentist. If no doctor has ever told you you need braces, don't fall for this and do not let an Invasalign salesperson frighten you into paying thousands of dollars for something you do not need.

The front desk lady is very rude. I came to pull out my tooth because it broke and I try to explain it to her and she didn't want to hear what I had to say she just yelling no dr is here to pull out the tooth. But she allow another person with the same problem to been and to pull the tooth out. They will not get my service

Office on Flatlands Ave is extremely unprofessional it smell stink the waiting area is tiny they schedule an extremely large amount of pts in 1 time slot which causes the waiting area to become over crowded in this pandemic extremely unsafe. The middle eastern dentist is extremely unprofessional he does not know how to talk to pts he is very condensing when I told him my insurance was Cigna he changed his tone and started adding on services and said he will give me a follow up date and if i needed him to schedule appt now and walk me to the front. I was extremely digusted and turned off by the lack of unprofessionalism and distasteful behavior of the dentist because he thought I had medicaid. Even if you do have a medicaid go else where I work in healthcare and no way we are allowed to discriminate against our patients due to what insurance they have.

This place is perpetually crowded. Wait times are very long. The hygienist there seem to be very inexperienced. There is also a very obvious bais they have against people from a certain demographics. I did not feel very welcomed there.

I have no complaints about the doctors and staff but if you are going to give me a 10:00 appointment than see me at that time not 12:15 p.m , mind you I came 15 minutes before my appointment but the excuse was they are short staffed so don't overbook the schedule cause I could have done other things on a Sunday . Will be call my insurance to find a dentist in network cause this is ridiculous. Now that I've finally been seated in a room when their we're no rooms available now I'm waiting for the doctor to see me and now it's been an additional 5 minutes, smdh.
