I consider it an honor to have the opportunity to care for those in my community. People place their trust in me during an often stressful and uncomfortable time; I take this very seriously. As a healthcare professional, my goal is to make people happy and healthy and to have them leave and tell people I love the dentist.

The best part of my job is building long-lasting relationships with my patients. As a dentist I have the opportunity to see people multiple times a year. I see them through weddings, pregnancies, new jobs, and new pets. Interacting with and meeting new people makes my day fun, and helping them achieve their oral health goals is equally as rewarding.

Cambridge Smiles: Sones Paula DDS - General dentist in Cambridge, MA

My first career in the healthcare field was not as a dentist, but as a registered nurse. I believe this experience gives me a greater understanding of the need to be nurturing and compassionate towards my patients. I was exposed to the field of dentistry after taking a job in day surgery where we primarily hosted dentists, caring for kids and people with special needs who require general anesthesia for their dental care. I quickly became interested in dentistry because it combines the hands-on technical skills that I enjoy with the personal relationships that I find rewarding.

It was exactly ten years after completing my undergrad degree at the University of Pennsylvania, that I began my training in my second career as a dentist. I attended the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California for my Doctorate of Dental Surgery, which I earned with honors in 2010.

Since then, Ive gone beyond my required hours of continuing education in order to provide up-to-date care to my patients. The field of dentistry is always introducing new technologies and products which challenge me and interest me. I am constantly learning new techniques and incorporating new technologies into my office.

Being an active member of my community is something Ive always felt was important. I participated in a dental mission trip to the Philippines and am hoping to return again in the future. I also volunteer on a local level at our yearly dental convention in Boston. Autism research and awareness is important to me since my life has been touched by it both professionally and personally. I have volunteered at the Walk Now for Autism Speaks event in Pennsylvaniaover the years with my family there.

In my free time, I love to be outside! Going for long walks with my dog, Diana, and kayaking are my favorite outdoor activities. I realized during the pandemic that I enjoy taking pictures of nature while I'm out and about, so I've been slowly learning about photography. I am on the road a lot, visiting family on Cape Cod and in Eastern Pennsylvania. Thankfully, Diana loves road trips as much as I do!

  • Michelle Registered Dental Hygienist As a dental hygienist, I am here to help my patients prevent disease and maintain a healthy mouth and smile by providing routine cleanings, X-rays, periodontal evaluations, and fluoride treatments. What satisfies me most about my job is when Ive encouraged a patient to improve upon their oral hygiene and then seeing the changes that they have made to move towards a level of optimal oral health. I love working with Dr. Sones and the rest of Cambridge Smiles team because of our mission and vision to provide a practice that makes our patients feel at home. Through open communication and collaboration with each other, we allow ourselves to provide our patients with the best dental care available. I enjoy working out in my free time, and have run both the Boston and the Chicago Marathons. Seeing the world is another one of my passions, and I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in a dental office in Switzerland for a year, volunteer in Guatemala on a medical/dental trip, and even trekked to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal! When Im at home, I cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.

  • Kaitlynd Patient Care Coordinator As your Patient Care Coordinator, I am your go-to for any questions regarding scheduling, insurance, billing, and anything in between! When you contact the office, I am typically the one who answers the phone and responds to emails (I also control the office music playlist, so let me know if you have any recommendations). I love being the first point of contact with patients as it sets the tone for the experience they will have in our care. We have a small office that allows us to give very personalized care and build strong relationships; I look forward to meeting you and helping you become a part of that! As someone who used to have extreme dental anxiety, working here absolutely changed my outlook and understanding of dentistry-I feel so safe here, and I'm always happy to talk to anyone about any anxieties they may have! Outside of dental reception-ing (?), you can usually find me involved in visual and performing arts. I also love watching TV until the obscenely early hours of the morning, which I've been told probably isn't healthy or something to brag about, and yet it feels vital to share.

  • Diana Dog I am the newest and most important member of the Cambridge Smiles team. You will find me sleeping under the front desk or getting my belly rubbed, hopefully by you! Don't worry, I don't go into the clinical areas of the office (I failed dental school). Think of me as your welcome committee/chief emotional support officer. When I am not clocked in at the office, I enjoy walks outside with Dr. Sonesand barking at other dogs. It's the little things. I never say no to a good treat. Or a hundred. I'm not picky.
