Dr. Afsaneh Samadani joined Cambridge Orthodontics in 2002 as an associate and became a partner in 2007. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and graduated first in her class from Boston University's Goldman School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Dr. Samadani was awarded membership in the exclusive Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. At graduation, she was asked to join the prestigious Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity for the highest academic standing.
Dr. Samadani completed a Residency in General Dentistry at Harvard University, Brigham and Women's Hospital in 2000. She then went back to Boston University, where she received her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S.) in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. In addition to practicing in Cambridge since 2002, Dr. Samadani maintained private practices in Boston and Watlham until 2015. She has experiences treating patients of all ages. Over the years, she has grown this practice with her personal attention and works hard to provide a caring environment to her patients.
Dr. Samadani is a member of several distinguished professional societies including, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child receives his or her first orthodontic screening by age 7. By starting treatment early, we are able to recognize potential problems and correct them before they become more serious. This will save you and your child time and money by preventing future problems before they begin.
Early interceptive orthodontic treatment has proven to be beneficial for the overall desired result. Because a young child's permanent teeth have not finished erupting, we are able to thoroughly evaluate and address any impending problems at the earliest stage.
During your child's initial evaluation, we will first determine if there are any problems that need to be addressed, such as potential crowding, open bite, overbite or gummy smiles. The Phase I treatment plan can include preventive, interceptive or modifying treatment. Orthodontic appliances may be placed to prevent a problem from occurring, correct a current problem or help direct jawbone growth. Multiple problems with tooth alignment, gums, jaws and facial problems can be corrected with Phase I treatment.

I began treatment with Dr. Samadani in early 2021 (Invisalign). From the first consult, I felt that Cambridge Orthodontics was very responsive to questions and communications, and listened to all of my concerns and the specifics of my case. Dr. Samadani also worked with my surgeon prepare my bite and teeth for double jaw surgery in November 2021. Cambridge Orthodontics costs are very competitive to others in the area, and covered full Invisalign treatment with unlimited trays. My treatment leading up to surgery was a breeze as my appointments were always quick and on time. I really appreciated how welcoming everyone was in the office, and the appointment reminders. Dr. Samadani was also quick to respond to questions over email as well, and was flexible with appointments after surgery. I ended up having to transfer my case halfway through treatment when I moved out of state, and the office promptly provided all of my transfer records to the receiving office. Also, this office is in a great location on Mass Ave with lots of street parking, and fairly close to Porter Square on the red line. Thank you Dr. Samadani and team for the help!

My daughter got braces from this orthodentist. Dr. Thalanki is a wonderful dentist. My daughter is very scared of dentists. They always made her feel calm and take their time while doing the procedure. Her teeth are not very well aligned, a couple of them were completely out of the way and a couple not erupting at all. All her colleagues in the office are great as well.

I'm very glad that I decided to go to Cambridge Orthodontics. I am getting my teeth straightened and bite corrected without surgery, which I had been told was necessary by another orthodontist. Everyone at CO is welcoming, skilled, and patient. Highly recommend for adults and children alike.

Dr Samadani is the best Orthodontist I have come across and I have used a few of them over my lifetime. They also constantly invest in upgrading their equipment as my scans started with the traditional bite types to the sophisticated 3D imaging based.
