We are conveniently located in Orange, CT near the intersection of the Boston Post Road and South Lambert Road. We are in a two story professional office building on South Lambert Rd directly across from the driveway of the TGI Fridays restaurant.
We have plenty of parking available in our dedicated parking lot. There is no jockeying for a coveted parking spot! Our office building has a ramp and elevator allowing for entry and exit for patients needing handicapped access.
Take the Boston Post Rd into Orange. You will pass a Home Depot on your right and Ocean State Job Lot on your left. You will approach an intersection where TGI Fridays in on your right. Take a right onto South Lambert Rd next to the TGI Fridays at this intersection. Directly after making the right turn, you will see theLambert Professional Buildingon your left. You will also see a small sign for a dentist. Pull into the parking lot and park.

Take the Marsh Hill Rd exit (exit #41). Take Marsh Hill road into Orange for approximately 1000 feet. You will pass a large building housing Colony Hardware on your right. Directly after that building on the right hand side is theLambert Professional Building.Make a right into the parking lot. If you hit the Post Rd you have gone too far.

Our office was established in the mid 1970s by Dr. David Becker.In early2013, we (Drs. Nicholas and Carla Calcaterra)purchased the office and Dr Becker retired. In our office, you will only see Drs. Nick and Carla Calcaterra. Treatment recommendations are made by dentists and hygienists and are based on what is best for you not what is best for a Corporate Office or Wall Street Firm.
Some patients come to us because we are on the list provided by their insurance company. But many others choose us because of who we are and the level of care we provide. Whether we are on their insurance list or not is irrelevant.
Dr. Nicholas Calcaterra graduated number one in his class from the University at Buffalo (SUNY) School of Dental Medicine, receiving his D.D.S. degree Summa Cum Laude in 2009. Dr. Calcaterra then furthered his training by completing the residency program in General Dentistry at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. While at Saint Francis, he received the Dr. Gerard Keen Award for his excellence in Oral Surgery. Prior to attending dental school, Dr. Calcaterra received his B.S. in Geological Sciences from Tufts University.
As a general dentist, Dr. Nick is highly skilled in all areas of dentistry, treating children and adults. But his true area of expertise is in the field of IV sedation dentistry. He is currently the only general dentist in the entire state of Connecticut in practice who has achieved Master Status in the College of Sedation in Dentistry. This is the highest level a general dentist can achieve in anesthesiology and can only be obtained after passing rigorous board exams. In addition, he has a currentlicense to administer Intravenous Sedation in his office, a license that only four other Connecticut general dentists have been granted. His sedation expertise, along with his genuine compassion for patients with dental anxiety, has enabled him to treat thousands of dental phobic patients over the years.
In addition to being Connecticuts most accomplished sedation dentist, Dr. Calcaterra stays up to date on all types of dental procedures, and routinely treats patients from age 1 to over 100. He regularly completes over 100 hours of continuing education per year in order to stay current on new dental techniques and technologies. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Calcaterra grew up in Newton, Massachusetts and has always called New England home. He has a strong connection to New Haven County having spent many summers at his grandmothers home in this area. He is very active in the local community and serves as a Dental Consultant toBethesda Nursery School in New Haven. When not actively seeing patients, Dr. Calcaterra can be found spending time with his wife Dr. Carla Calcaterra, daughter Alessia Nicole, and son Eric Berne in their home in Orange. Both of their kids are students in the Orange school system.
Dr. Calcaterra is a strong believer in the use of the internet to communicate to patients. In addition to building this website, he also developed the award-winning website devoted to his grandfatherDr. Eric Berne, the world famous psychiatrist and author of the bestseller Games People Play.
Dr. Carla Calcaterra is a 2009 Cum Laude graduate of the University at Buffalo (SUNY) School of Dental Medicine, completing the program in the top third of her class. She excelled in all areas and was especially proficient in Pediatric Dentistry. She then went on to complete the residency in General Dentistry at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. Upon completion of her advanced training at Saint Francis, she worked as a general dentist for several years in private practice in Hartford County, treating both adults and children.
Prior to attending dental school, Dr. Carla Calcaterra was a pianist and music teacher in the Boston area. She received her B.A. in piano performance from the University of Miami, underwent Masters Level training at Boston University, and routinely performed in her native country of Peru. As a piano teacher, she taught children of all ages and was a highly sought after instructor in the Boston area. Her ability to teach children how to play Chopins Waltz in A Minor or Bachs Preludes and Fugues has given her the skills to be able to connect with nearly any child and motivate them to better dental health!
Dr. Carla Calcaterra was born in Lima, Peru but came to the United States permanently at age 12. She is fluent in English and Spanish and enjoys seeing patients who speak either language. In addition to treating pediatric dental patients, she is well experienced in all aspects of general dentistry. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Jennifer is our Business Managerand has been with us since early 2017. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the dental field. There are very few individuals who know as much about dentistry, dental insurance, and dental office management as Jennifer.
Jenns number one responsibility is to ensure that patients and staff are being taken care of. And with an office of our size, this is no easy task! Jenn is the go-to person in our office for anything related to insurance, treatment needs, financing, etc. As an expert insurance coordinator, she keeps the payment process convenient for our patients by maximizing dental coverage and submitting all insurance claims. Patients know what will be covered by their insurance before receiving care from us. If you need help with anything, contact Jenn.
Jenn is a lifelong resident of Milford and has significant family in the area. She graduated from Kolbe Cathedral High School in Bridgeport and went to Southern. When shes not in the office, shes bound to be with her son Jaxon and cat Jasper.
Crystal grew up in Bridgeport and is a proud graduate of Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield. Crystal fell in love with dentistry and direct patient care after working as a dental assistant right out of high school. She then attended the University of Bridgeport and received her Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2009.
Crystal is different from other dental hygienists in that she does not scrape and escape. Whether she is with a 2 year old with brand new teeth, a 24 year old with pearly whites, or a 63 year old with advanced gum disease, she takes the time to educate each one of her patients on optimal oral health. It is this attention to detail that sets our dental hygiene team apart from most other dental offices.
Toni grew up in Shelton and attended Shelton High School. After graduating, she became a Dental Assistant, and worked as an assistant for many years in the Milford area. She then decided to further her career and attended the Fones School of Dental Hygiene from which she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1999.
With her extensive experience as both an assistant and hygienist, Toni has mastered a gentle and thorough style and strives to address each patients specific needs on an individualized basis. She has the unique ability to make even the most apprehensive patient feel calm and relaxed.
Toni is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and stays current in the field by attending continuing education seminars on a regular basis. She is also certified in the administration of local anesthetic and Basic Life Support.
Toni resides in Milford with her husband and rescue dog Layla. They are the proud parents of their son Samuel who is serving our country in the United States Air Force. Toni also believes in living a healthy lifestyle and physical fitness is a very important part of her daily life.
Monica grew up in Wallingford and attended Lyman Hall High School. After graduating, she immediately pursued her dream career in dental hygiene. She graduated from Lincoln College of New Englands Dental Hygiene Program (formally Briarwood) in 2012 with her Associates degree in Dental Hygiene and later returned to receive her Bachelors in Dental Hygiene in 2017.
Monica started her career working as a travelling dental hygienist, visiting various nursing homes throughout the state of Connecticut, while also working part time in private practice. Upon completion of her bachelors degree, she decided to become a clinical instructor for dental hygiene students, and currently works part time in the dental hygiene clinic at Goodwin University in East Hartford.
Monica resides in Wallingford with her husband and 2 year old daughter. When shes not in the office or teaching future hygienists, she is likely chasing around her daughter or powerlifting at her local Crossfit gym.
Cyndi was born in Santiago, Chile but grew up in New Jersey. She is fluent in Spanish and English. She works extensively with Dr. Carla Calcaterra on patients for whom Spanish is their first language. Whether she is comforting a 4 year old nina for her first dental visit or a 80 year old needing a denture repaired, Cyndi enjoys every patient interaction. She teams up with Amanda to ensure that every procedure runs smoothly and that every patient receives personalized attention. And she is well versed in IV sedation having completed several hundred sedation cases with Dr. Nick.
When not in the office, Cyndi enjoys spending time with her family in Meriden as well as recording and performing music a lifelong hobby of hers. And shell be happy to speak to you in Spanish just ask her!
Amanda was born in Annapolis, Maryland but relocated to Connecticut shortly after she was born. She grew up in Trumbull and graduated from Trumbull High School. She completed the Dental Assisting Program at Porter and Chester in Stratford and then quickly became a highly sought after Dental Assistant in both New Haven and Fairfield counties.
In addition to demonstrating a soothing and pleasant chairside demeanor, Amanda stays up to date on all the recent technological advancements in dentistry. She has extensive knowledge of the use of CAD/CAM in dentistryand cosmetic all-ceramic crowns. In addition, she has a wealth of experience in anesthesia and assists Dr. Nick during his IV sedation cases.
Amanda lives in Milford with her husband Mike and son Jamie. She loves working so close to home. When not in the office, she can be found with Mike and Jamie, her Yorkie Bella, and spending time with her family in Trumbull.
Aimee currently lives in New Haven with her husband Brian and her two daughters Lily and Haley. When not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and watching college football. Her entire family are passionate about the Miami Hurricanes. If you are a Florida State Seminole fan, you are allowed in our office, but Aimee will not talk to you!
