Calavera Hills Dental is a team dedicated to serving your dental needs. All aspects of general dentistry are incorporated into its practice for your convenience. We know that dentistry can be difficult for many people, so it is a comfort to our patients when they discover they can leave their anxiety behind as they come to know and trust the care Calavera Hills Dental provides. The owner and leader of our team is Dr. Christopher H. Layton D.D.S.
Dr. Layton has a good history in our state and community. He was born in San Francisco when his father was in dental school. Raised in the Hills of Olivenhain (Encinitas), Dr. Layton graduated from San Dieguito High School. He later received his degrees from BYU (BS) in 2000 and Creighton UniversityDental School (DDS) in 2004.
With a license to practice dentistry, Dr. Layton returned home with his wife and children to this area to practice with his father for seven years before branching out on his own. It is here that Dr. Layton has really made himself a part of our community. Dr. Layton is or has been a soccer coach, scout master, and an active participant in his church. Some of his personal interests include surfing, scuba diving, soccer, motorcycling, paintball, and spending time with his wife and four sons.With Dr. Laytons leadership, Calavera Hills Dental is committed to your dental experience. I couldn't be more happy with this office! Im new to the area and needed a cleaning. I had gone to a different dentist and felt like I was being taking advantage of so I asked around and heard Calaveras name come up over and over again. From the moment I called the front desk, I knew Calavera was exceptional. The front desk acted like they had all the time in the world to listen to my worries and answer the million questions I had. Dr. Layton assured me that he is the type of dentist that is straight forward and doesn't try to "upsell." He has a very calm demeanor and takes his time evaluating you. He fixed my two chipped front teeth and I could cry with how happy I am with the results!! I thought it was going to be thousands to fix so I was resigned to the fact that I would have to live with them all messed up. I could sing praises upon praises with this office. I'm so grateful for them!

I really like enjoy visiting Calavera Hills Dental. Extremely professional, quality work, friendly and welcoming environment. The staff are genuine and caring. It is a wonderful feeling to have total confidence in your dentists ability. Dr. Layton is awesome and highly recommended.

Not my favorite activity but they make it as pleasant as possible. I'm always surprised by the technology they use to make the procedures simple and accurate. If you haven't visited a dentist recently, choose Dr. Layton.

I always recall when I received a mailer for Dr. Layton office several years ago to my home in Oceanside, CA. He had such a honest look that I instantly felt like I can trust him with my dental needs and boy was that accurate. I made an appointment and now several years have gone by & I am a patient for life. I love my dentist is what you hear me raving to my friends and family. If you'd like a dentist who is patient, calm and knowledgeable this is the definition of Dr. Layton. Thank you for always doing such amazing work, and providing affordable pricing.

I found Dr. Layton/Calavera Hills Dental from a friend of a friend and I've been very happy with dental cleanings and visits so far. Very helpful staff, professional, and high quality, on time dental care that's what you need, and not more. If you like ultra modern, large, fancy offices that over-sell, this is not your place.

After a trip on the street (face down) and one to the ER & seeing 5 specialists not one was able to address how teeth, chewing, jaw function, alignment state was in - all were concerned about eyes, concussion,brain, etc. and orbital fractures and whether surgery was mandate & would orbital floor be at risk... By God's grace, I still have my vision. It will be 6-12 mo before I heal. However, with the pain & numbness affecting my teeth & jaw movement I finally despite being stuck on "duh" with this concussion remembered Dr. Layton!!!! One call of distress and in a heartbeat I was in exam chair! Had state of the art diagnostics and the most gentle exam. For well over 20 years his father & son have cared for my late parents & now myself... Dr. Layton's report was nothing short of Praises! NO Damage - nerve pain yes, But then GOD & time... Dr. Layton & staff are exceptional BOTTOM LINE: Watch your step & Stay out of street fights!! They usually win!

Very caring staff. Been going here for a few years now and I brought my kids to this dentist a year ago from the super dentist care. My kids like this dental office so much more because of how they are treated. Very satisfied with the service here.

I've been going to Calavera Hills Dental office for a few years now and absolutely love the practice. I've never had to wait over 10 minutes to be seen. The staff is very professional and so courteous. Dr. Layton is personable and makes recommendations but isn't pushy. I highly recommend this practice across the board.

Very easy to schedule, friendly staff, Dr. Layton explained observations clearly and gave options to address without pressure. Cleaning was thorough, hygienist was friendly and observant.. highly recommend Calavera Hills Dental!

I had a cleaning scheduled, but ended up with a toothache on the day of my appointment. Dr. Layton was able to x-ray and evaluate my situation, all before the cleaning. He even got me an appointment with an endodontist. He and the staff are always high skilled and kind.

Best dentist ever. Super nice and friendly and they don't do that thing where they try and upsell you to death on frivolous stuff. I drive 45 mins just to get here, that's how good they are!

This is the best dentist I've ever been to. Dr Layton is very thorough, he's very talented and has a great bedside manner. He always takes the time to explain everything and is very honest. He never tries to upsell me anything that's not necessary, and I really trust him. He saved one of my teeth from needing a root canal! The dental hygienists are just as wonderful, they very gentle and knowledgeable. The front desk staff are very helpful and always super nice. I 10/10 recommend Dr Layton and the staff to anyone.

I'm usually terrified of Dentists. But the staff and Dr. Layton are very professional and can be trusted with great service and compassion. I had to have major work done and they made me feel comfortable all the way.

Was encouraged to try this office. Called to setup a cleaning and was informed I would be charged for additional services I did not request or need and they would be unable to schedule me unless I authorized unnecessary services. Not a good first impression. Will take my business elsewhere.
