Welcome to Cabezon Orthodontists, conveniently located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Dr. Helen Bush is proud to offer outstanding orthodontic care for both adults and children in a clean, relaxing atmosphere. So bring the whole family in because we offer a wide range of orthodontic treatment to meet the needs and desires of each individual patient.

All of our orthodontic services are performed by a certified orthodontist, not a general dentist. After a thorough evaluation, the orthodontist will explain in detail your individual treatment plan and your treatment coordinator will go over all insurance benefits, costs and payment options. In some cases, we can even offer same-day braces so youll be on your way to a straighter, beautiful, healthier smile in no time!

Our modern dcor office is equipped with the latest dental technology. We are now a Digital Impression Practice! We are the proud owners of an iTero Element Intraoral Scanner! We Make a Great First Impression! The iTero Element Scanner is a state-of-the-art digital impression system that eliminates the need for messy putty in your mouth. With our iTero Element Scanner, we can digitally capture a detailed 3D model of your teeth and gums. Not only is this process far more comfortable than the old putty based impressions, but it is faster and can offer a superior clinical endpoint. 2016 Align Technology, Inc.

Invisalign is the revolutionary, clear way of achieving all the benefits of traditional braces without anyone knowing youre receiving orthodontic treatment. This revolutionary clear technology will change the way you look at braces forever!

Our mission is to provide our patients with superior service to ensure each patient feels valued. We design our patients' treatment plans with attention to their individualized needs to achieve the healthy smiles they deserve. We love the relationships we build with our patients and their families, and pride ourselves on excellent communication. We will always respect the busy schedules of our patients and strive to stay on schedule; both daily and with on time treatment finishing. We also enjoy staying active in our community by supporting schools, sports and community events.

Helen D. Bush, D.M.D., M.D.S., is originally from Pittsburgh, PA where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude, in the field of Health Related Professions. She earned her D.M.D. dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh as Valedictorian. After dental school, she completed 3 years of specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics also at the University of Pittsburgh, earning a Master of Science degree. Dr. Bush has worked on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico with a non-profit organization serving the Navajo people for several years. As a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association, she stays current with the latest developments in technology in orthodontics through continuing education courses.Dr. Bush enjoys spending time with her husband Stew and their two pet cockatoos.

An orthodontist is a dental specialist who has received two to three years of additional training and experience. Your orthodontist is able to straighten teeth, correct misaligned jaw structure, and improve the function of your smile.

Teeth and sometimes entire facial structures are permanently changed by orthodontic treatment. It is important that the treatment be appropriate and properly completed. Orthodontic specialists have extensive and specialized training that enables them to provide their patients with professional, personalized treatments.

If you want to improve the look and feel of your smile then any age can be a great age to see the orthodontist. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children first visit an orthodontist around the age of seven. However, orthodontic treatment is not exclusive to children and teens, with about one in every five orthodontic patients being over the age of 21. Whether you're considering treatment for yourself or for a child, any time is a good time to visit the orthodontist.

No patient is 'too old' to wear braces! A surprising percentage of our patients are adults. In fact, 25 percent of all orthodontic patients are adults. Health and happiness are vitally important to adults, and orthodontic treatment can increase your self-esteem at any age!

  • Keep your retainer clean, too, by brushing it gently with a toothbrush and toothpaste. You may also soak it in denture cleaner as instructed by your orthodontist. Do not put your retainer in boiling water or in the dishwasher.
  • Avoid sticky and chewy foods (caramel, chewing gum, gummy bears), hard foods (hard candy, nuts, ice cubes), or any foods that could possibly get stuck in your braces (corn on the cob, soft bagels, ribs, taffy, etc.).
  • The amount of time spent in braces will vary depending on the individual patient, because every smile responds differently to treatment. Treatment times can take anywhere between 6 and 30 months, but most standard treatments take about 22 months.

With braces, you should brush your teeth at least three times a day to keep your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy and clean. Brushing regularly will help remove any food that may be caught between the braces. You should also floss daily to get in between your braces where your brush isn't able to reach. Your orthodontist can show you how to properly brush and floss once your braces are placed.

Yes! In fact, it's even more important that patients receiving orthodontic treatment visit their dentist at least every six months. With braces, food may be caught in places that your toothbrush can't reach. This causes bacteria to build up that can lead to cavities, gingivitis, and gum disease. Your dentist will work closely with your orthodontist to make sure that your teeth stay clean and healthy while wearing braces.

Playing an instrument or a contact sport may require some adjustment when you first get your braces, but wearing braces will not stop you from participating in any of your school activities. If you play a contact sport, it is recommended that you wear a mouthguard to protect your braces or appliance.

For most people, achieving a healthy, beautiful smile is the reason for receiving orthodontic care. If you're self-conscious about your smile, correcting your concerns with braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.

When your treatment is complete, you will have the smile you've always dreamed of and the confidence to show it off! We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, and our practice is dedicated to making sure that you receive the quality care you deserve.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.

Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets, and in some cases, you can even choose the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!

Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years depending on several factors, including age, treatment method, and the severity of your case. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.

The front desk people are very sweet but when my daughters bracket came off about 20 or 30 minutes after we left they wouldn't let us come back in that same day to have it quickly put back on instead made us wait till the following week when we live 45 minutes away. Bad business to do so. If I had a client that I made a mistake on I would remedy this especially when it wouldn't take long to do so.

They have been great throughout my time with braces. The one complaint I would have had would be with the previous orthodontist who is no longer there. She did not do what I felt was needed consistently and with other members of my family completely disregarded how they wanted their teeth and her quality of work was not the best. But once the new orthodontist took over everything has been great and I have no complaints. She listens to what I have to say and effectively and efficiently does what is needed. Overall I would say my experience has been great at Cabezon Orthodontists!
