Dr. Sue VanBlaricum fell in love with dentistry when she was a child going to the dentist herself. She loved going to the dentist and was constantly getting scolded by her mother for asking the dentist what he was doing. After graduating from High School, she graduated from a dental assisting school and worked as a dental assistant for 7 years in family dentistry, oral surgery, and orthodontics. She realized she wanted to further her education. And with her husband Rick's encouragement and support, got her undergraduate degree in 3 years and was accepted into Indiana University School of Dentistry. She graduated in 1988 with awards in Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery, and for co-publishing an article in the Journal of the American Dental Association on Antibiotic Prophylaxis.

Dr. VanBlaricum has deep roots in Macon County where her ancestors were born and raised. Her parents moved to Indianapolis for working opportunities before she was born. With the need for a dentist and to be close to her brother, Stanley Johnson, owner of Johnson Jewelers, she and her husband moved to Lafayette to a welcoming community. She loves helping patients get their mouths healthy no matter what the circumstances. She believes in treating patients like she would like to be treated.

I went to her, had x-rays of 4 teeth and a piece. She received approval from my Insurance and made appointment to remove them. I went for my appointment and I had a question for the dentist. I asked the question to one of her staff and I mentioned that I knew someone that had came there for their denture. My friend had bone put in her mouth at another place and her denture Miss Sue had made. My friend has been Very Unhappy since. I just wanted to know if I would have to have bone put in the bottom so as to hold the 4 mini implants. When her assistant came back she told me they were going to refer me to someone else in Mount Juliet and would not be removing the 4 and a piece of teeth. I guess she took it as an insult by telling her about someone that I knew. I was not trying to do that at all. She said I had a massive infection in them and knew they needed to be removed. I feel like she still could have removed them, and then refer me if she didn't want to make my dentures. I did not care for her in 1995 but was willing to try her again. A big mistake on my part!

Went to her to have a denture made needless to say it didn't fit and was told to use glue. I got in touch with my insurance company and all though she was paid she refuses to answer my question and that is if it's falling out of my mouth will you remake it. Was told to come back in to the office of course so she can charge me for another useless office visit. I have blisters in my mouth from trying to wear something that doesn't fit. My tongue is RAW from the denture. She hurt me and told me if you want this you have to let me finish. I would not recommend coming if you want what you pay for.

Truly a most comfortable and welcoming establishment. The staff are highly trained and masters of their craft. Dr. VanBlaricum and her R.D.A. Miss Tiffany are so in sync working together, that I'm always surprised when they tell me that they've finished their procedure. Efficient, effective, and compassionate, they have strived to make their patient's comfort levels as painless as possible, utilizing the most modern dental techniques to provide one with greater confidence in their smile. Thank you so much for all that you do!

ABSOLUTELY horrible and I mean ABSOLUTELY! Went in for a regular tooth filling, the dental hygienist who is nice and awesome took 3 x-rays of my teeth. Then I waited and went to Dr. VanBlaircum to have the tooth filled. She starts to drill immediately, then tells me to raise my hand if I feel pain- so a short while after she's drilling I raise my hand, and she stops. They then proceeded to take 6 , SIX more x-rays of my mouth after I'm numbed on both sides and hurting from the pain she caused. Then vanblaircum disappears while her snobby rude assistant tells me "oh you're not going to like this but you will need a root canal" AFTER THE FACT 9 x-Rays later they finally tell me that. She should of done her homework from the first 3 x-rays the hygienist did prior to me seeing her,and saw she couldn't of drilled that far or at all. Very unprofessional and just out for your pockets. Seriously seriously wouldn't recommend. Obviously Dr.vanblaircum gets all of her luxury cars from screwing people so long.

I was new to the area and very particular about both my teeth and dentist, since my previous dentist was a personal friend for 30 years. However, I found this place and was absolutely impressed with both the facility's cleanliness and latest technology. I found the staff extremely professional, gentle, compassionate and knowledgeable. They made the whole process including the billing to my insurance a pleasure. Dr. Sue, Tiffany and the entire staff did a great job on my teeth and met all my expectations! If your uncomfortable with your current dentist go visit Layfayette Family Dentistry!!!

seems like the place to take your kids to get cleanings and that's it. I knew as soon as a sat in the rickety chair it wasn't gonna be for me. charged me 100 bucks for an x ray and just referred me to another place. they didn't even look in my mouth... just did an x ray and went off that. don't go there!

Unfortunately, growing up I was not taught how to take care of my teeth. Not blaming my parents they weren't raised that way either. We only went to the dentist to get a tooth pulled when it hurt so badly we couldn't function. The only dentist I had visited was a man so rough that I would have panic attacks at the thought of going to him. Some of you know who I'm referring to. As a result I was in danger of loosing all my teeth. Finally realizing the importance of dental care, I started going to different dentists and asking what I could do. None were interested in helping me...period. They all had the same attitude...."you're too far gone" and refused to discuss any treatment with me . Then I met Dr. Sue VanBlaricum. She asked me to come in and she'd have a look. After the examination she said, " Yes, we can stop further damage". I can't describe how I felt. Before my first visit to Dr. VanBlaricum I had lost six of my permanent teeth. That was near 20 years ago. Since then I haven't lost another tooth and my gums are healthy. She is gentle and an amazing and compassionate dentist and person who really cares about your smile. With her care and If you will follow her instruction I am confident that you too will have a healthy smile. I no longer have anxiety attacks at the thought of going to the dentist!!!! Thank you Dr. Sue VanBlaricum! Thank you so much! You saved my teeth! You and your staff are the best!!!!
