Dr. Sue VanBlaricum fell in love with dentistry when she was a child going to the dentist herself. She loved going to the dentist and was constantly getting scolded by her mother for asking the dentist what he was doing. After graduating from High School, she graduated from a dental assisting school and worked as a dental assistant for 7 years in family dentistry, oral surgery, and orthodontics. She realized she wanted to further her education. And with her husband Rick's encouragement and support, got her undergraduate degree in 3 years and was accepted into Indiana University School of Dentistry. She graduated in 1988 with awards in Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery, and for co-publishing an article in the Journal of the American Dental Association on Antibiotic Prophylaxis.
Dr. VanBlaricum has deep roots in Macon County where her ancestors were born and raised. Her parents moved to Indianapolis for working opportunities before she was born. With the need for a dentist and to be close to her brother, Stanley Johnson, owner of Johnson Jewelers, she and her husband moved to Lafayette to a welcoming community. She loves helping patients get their mouths healthy no matter what the circumstances. She believes in treating patients like she would like to be treated.
