Dr. Roy Shim has always believed that being a dentist is not just knowing how to work on teeth, but also understanding the overall medical condition of patients and how it interacts with their current oral health. Its because of this belief that he has dedicated himself and his practice to continuing dentistry education. He received his undergraduate degree in biological science from University of California at Irvine and attended Boston University for his graduate masters degree in medical sciences. Immediately after, he was accepted to Northwestern University Dental School with a scholarship, which is only offered for those few who had distinguished academic achievements.
Upon graduating from one of the top dental schools in the nation, Dr. Shim furthered continued his education by completing his general practice residency at Evanston/Northwestern Hospital. After his completion of general practice residency, Dr. Shim was honored with an excellence in hospital residency award. He has been practicing in the valley since 2007 and he was voted by Phoenix Magazine as one of the Top Dentists.
Dr. Shims philosophy is to educate his patients about the importance of dental care and how oral health can impact their general well being. He also believes that patient education will give them the knowledge necessary to make informed and intelligent decisions about their dental health and treatments. As a family dentist who is dedicated to practicing exceptional dentistry for his patients, Dr. Shim frequently continues his education throughout the country to keep up with the latest technology, techniques, and materials.
Dr. Shim is a certified provider for many highly technical dental procedures including CAD/CAM, Invisalign, Lumineers, implants, and braces. He is well trained in CAD/CAM dentistry and has been using CEREC CAD/CAM system since 2009. He understands that patients time is extremely valuable and he will be able to complete crown/onlay procedures on the same day in one visit without using temporaries. Even permanent implant crowns can be fabricated on the same day. As a certified Invisalign provider with traditional orthodontic training, Dr. Shim will be able to provide combination treatment options for all your orthodontic needs. Many of these certifications do overlap in many technical areas where Dr. Shim can apply combined knowledge into providing better care for all types of our patients with more efficient and predictable outcomes.

Dr.Shim has treated me for 20 Years and he has fullfil more than my expectations. The staff that works with him are very kind and courteous. "They really are a GREAT team"!

the staff, my office experience every time is always pleasant and enjoyable. But there is always a BUT in everything. The only thing I dislike is the wait time of getting my approval from the Insurances. Which l really can't say who is or where the delay is. I waited almost a year before I heard back from them. That was my first visit and it never happened again.

This place has seriously been horrible horrible. The manager Janet. Janet was really rude excessively rude and she also canceled an appointment for my daughter which was an emergency appointment and also canceled my appointment as well. Well what time are you going to come it's not that I was irate it's that I was in pain and I had an appointment at 12:40 on Wednesday and my daughter had an appointment at 9:00 on Wednesday and she canceled both of them. I don't understand why but she was extremely rude about it and hung up. If this is the intro to this facility this is the introduction that we get, this is not a place that you want to visit. I would rather go with another dentist then to go with this place and I'd advise everybody that is looking at this review to do the same. Extremely rude if that's what you're looking for then go to this dentist if you want some sympathy somebody to actually understand what tooth pain is really like and then you go to somewhere that does care because I promise you this place does not care at all.

I just spoke with a woman named Janet which she told me over the phone her name is Janet, supposedly the manager. She did not want to take anything the right way. I am in a lot of tooth pain and she said forget it we're canceling your appointment and it's because of no reason I wish I could download the conversation and play it so people can hear how I was treated but this is not a good or great place it's not fantastic it's a horrible place that doesn't care about people or how they feel. From what I've seen all they care about is money and every person that will step in that dentist office is and will be charged at least $1,500 because they will say something is wrong with your teeth when nothing is wrong with your teeth at least that's what I found on the internet so I'm sharing it with you guys. So if you ever think about going to a dentist please don't go to this one because they will not I repeat they will not be nice courteous or honest the main keyword is honest they will take you for your money and they will not treat you.

Great environment, customer service and professional. My family and I started seeing Dr Shim and staff for our dentistry needs and hands down we very pleased with all services and treatments! Highly recommend!!

I absolutely love the new location. I've been a patient at Cornerstone Dental for quite some time, I believe I found Dr. Roy Shim over 10 years ago. Needless to say I am very pleased with the dental care provided to myself and my child. The staff is so friendly and goes out of their way to ensure comfort and convenience. I highly recommend Dr. Shim and his staff to anyone who is in need of a dentist and/or orthodontist.

I jst wanted to say (buyer beware). This dentist, Dr Shim, is a scam artist. I called to make an appointment from a referral I received from my regular dentist. Told them I didn't have dental insurance but had government insurance that took care of $1000 for emergency visit. They said ok come in. I drove way out of my way by an hour only to get x-rays and examed and then told after the exam that they don't do governmental insurance cause he lost so much money in the past for doing so, so Im assuming that he wanted to recoup some of his losses, cause he took ex rays and did an exam. How bogus is that?! Well I suppose he will get what is coming to him in some form or the other! Jst thought I would WARN potential victims of such scams.

Went there to get new dentures. They were caring and understanding to needs. Helped me get over my fears. It's been over 7 years and my dentures still look good and fit great.
