As a full-service dental office, Byrne Dental provides patients with a comprehensive range of treatments. Our practice is based in Rapid City, SD, and was established in 1993 by Dr. James Byrne. Throughout the years, we have developed a reputation for gentle, caring dentistry. Our doctor and team members are proud to serve patients of every age, and always welcome new members into our practice.

James Byrne is a native of Spring Valley, Minnesota, the oldest of five children. He attended St. Johns University on a National Merit Scholarship, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Science before attending the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where he was the president of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity in his senior year. After graduation in 1984, Dr. Byrne took his first position at the Indian Health Service Hospital in Pine Ridge. He moved to Rapid City in 1987, working with another dentist before starting his solo practice in 1993. Having fallen in love with the Black Hills on vacation, Dr. Byrne decided Rapid City was the ideal place to raise his family, and build his dental practice.
Dr. Byrne is a member of several dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the South Dakota Dental Association and the Black Hills District Dental Society, in which he is active on the Peer Review Committee. In addition, Dr. Byrne is a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international society promoting community service within the dental profession.
Dr. Byrne served on the board of directors of the Rapid City Community Health Center 2001-2006. He is active in the Scottish and Irish Society of the Black Hills and a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Dr. Byrne enjoys exploring the Black Hills with his son Brian, as well as attending the sports activities in which Brian is involved.
Although Donna is the newest addition to Dr. Byrnes office, working with Dr. Byrne is not new. Donna worked with Dr. Byrne 25 years ago when both were part of a group practice. Donna moved here from Boston in 1982 after graduation from the Bryman School of Dental Assisting.
Donna has been in the dental field for the last 30 years, and states she enjoys being a dental assistant and helping patients overcome their dental fears. Donna has two sons, Michael and Drew, and a husband, Don. Donna enjoys sports and spending time with family and friends.

I highly recommend Dr Byrne. I was visiting my family and I had an accident were my front tooth finished chipped. I called to Dr. Byrne office and Donna was super helpful friendly and polite. She gave me an appointment asap and I got the best dentist attention. Donna and Kara work with my insurance and offered me the best solution. Dr Byrne is very professional and has the experience that We need to receive a Wonderful dental care. Thanks a lot

I just moved here and had a filling fall out, like gaping hole in my tooth and everything. I called and was able to get an appointment next day and then within 2 weeks I was able to get multiple fillings fixed and a cleaning. Everyone is soo nice and personable. 10/10 would recommend.
