Dr. Butterfield grew up locally in Stephens City, VA, and was a James Wood Colonel from 1991-1993. In 1993, Sherando High School opened it's doors, and he became a member of its first graduating class (1994). After serving for two years in Utah as a missionary, Dr. Butterfield attended Brigham Young University, where he graduated in 2000 with a degree in Biology. In 2004, he completed his doctorate at Virginia Commonwealth Universitys School of Dentistry. Dr. Butterfield practiced in Winchester, VA for 16 years prior to opening this practice in Strasburg.
During the Thursdays and Fridays that the office is closed, Dr. Butterfield is doing something that he absolutely loves, in the strangest of places. He is pulling teeth on inmates who are experiencing dental pain (and/or infection) in one of five regional jails that he serves. Dr. Butterfield has been working in jails for over a decade, and sees around 100 inmates every month in this capacity, with most of them requiring extractions. When Dr. Butterfield goes to the jails, Cindi (his wife) is right by his side as his assistant. She loves this time as much as he does. Dr. Butterfield has also been a volunteer at the Free Medical Clinic in downtown Winchester for many years, and tries to serve there as often as he can. Patients who are in pain, or in need of a tooth being extracted can benefit from the enormous amount of experience he has gained while serving in these various capacities.
In 2018, Dr. Terry Butterfield and Cindi Pectol (James Wood student as well), were married, and have an amazing blended family consisting of 4 sons, and 6 daughters that keep them very busy! Dr. B and his wife love singing and making music together (he plays piano, the French horn, and the guitar). He also loves metal detecting, watching his Chicago Bears lose, and restoring his 1991 Nissan 300Z.

I had a great experience with Butterfield Family Dentistry. I needed an emergency visit and Dr. Butterfield when above and beyond what is expected to ensure that I could be seen at the earliest possible appointment time. They even checked on me during the weekend! I am always very anxious at the dentist and Dr. Butterfield and his wife did a great job in making me feel comfortable and anxiety-free! Highly recommend them to anyone who has anxiety about a dentist or who needs to establish care with a caring and kind dentist.

I just had the best experience visiting a dentist. I'm a new patient but they still fit me in at the last minute. I had a lot of pain from a tooth and they did an X-ray and explained what all was going on in my mouth. He made suggestions, listened to what I wanted to do, and then we made the decision together on how to move forward. And then he pulled the problem teeth. All the in one visit! Can't wait for the follow up in 6 months. Dr. Butterfield and his staff were extremely patient and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend!

If I could give 10 stars I would! Dr Butterfield & his staff are by far the most Professional, Knowledgeable, Punctual & most of all CARING office in this area! Dr Butterfield takes time to listen about your issues & never rushes you in & out as if you were just a number for the day. He TRULY cares about all of his patients & is very knowledgeable in his field!! He has been our family dentist since my children were little and they are now grown, living out of the area and can't find another dentist like Dr. Butterfield! I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Butterfield to EVERYONE!!!

Dr Butterfield and all his staff is hands down the best little family feel practice in the Strasburg area. They are caring and don't rush you in and out. They are also great with even the biggest coward...like myself. Kudos for all they do for the community

Dr Butterfield is an excellent honest compassionate dentist. He takes time to understand each patient and their individual needs. My husband I appreciate the personal experience and the time taken to make sure that our teeth and health are taken to the greatest level of care. He puts his personal best and personal time into his practice always. We are so grateful to have found his practice and will continue our dentistry journey with him throughout our life. Wow! I absolutely love this place! Dr. Butterfield is so genuinely caring and is one of the first dentists I've met that doesn't just want to sell me something. I feel he actually cares for my health and gives me one on one attention and care. He also takes the time to teach you about your oral health and they super cool technology to show you what exactly is happening in your mouth! I sometimes get anxious about the dentist but he really helps to provide a comforting environment and experience!

I was very nervous going in to "A Dentist OFFICE" which is normal for me, but I really felt comfortable in that office with Dr. Butterfield and his Wife and staff. They have the great technology in that family owned business, and Dr. Terry Butterfield is an excellent dentist. I had been to Dr Butterfield before cause he has been a dentist for long time now, but this family owned business is new, but it certainly is not lacking. I will be making this my permanent stop for dental work, because I so like a dentist I can trust and experienced with excellent judgement too.

Dr. Butterfield is a good person they made me feel very comfortable. He explained everything step by step what he was going to do. He actually took the time to help me. He has the best prices I've ever had. I will drive two hours if I moved just to come back to this office, my whole family will be switching and coming here. Hands down the best!

Dr. Butterfield used the latest technology as a way to analyze and explain the condition of my mouth and teeth. Our longtime dentist had recently retired and Dr. Butterfield took over his practice. We feel confident that we are very likely to remain in good dental care going forward.
