A Kansas City native, Dr. Jeffrey Burroughs graduated from Bishop Miege High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy. In 2005, Dr. Burroughs earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UMKCs School of Dentistry.
After graduating from dental school, Dr. Burroughs began his service in the U.S. Air Force. He was selected to attend a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency. As an immediate post-graduate, Dr. Burroughs was appointed to stay on staff and serve as the Assistant AEGD Director a first for the Air Force Dental Corps.
Dr. Burroughs served a total of 5 years as an AEGD instructor and general dentist before beginning his Endodontics Residency at Keesler Medical Center, earning his Endodontics Specialty Certificate in 2012. During his Air Force career, Dr. Burroughs was honored to serve on humanitarian missions to Honduras and Guyana, and was able to fulfill a passion for education while directly engaged in the teaching of more than 40 AEGD residents in General Dentistry and Endodontics.
Throughout his military career, Dr. Burroughs received multiple awards for Clinical Dentist of the Year and Dental Educator of the Year. He was also the recipient of numerous medals and commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Air Force Commendation Medal, among others. Dr. Burroughs returned home after completing his active duty service commitment to start Burroughs Endodontics with the vision of providing the Kansas City area with the highest, quality-centered endodontic care in a compassionate, caring environment.
One of Dr. Burroughs proudest accomplishments is being a Board Certified Endodontist. After successfully challenging the three-part American Board of Endodontics examination, Dr. Burroughs became one of only five Board Certified Endodontists in the entire state of Kansas. Having reached the pinnacle of the profession, Dr Burroughs status as Board Certified is a reflections of his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of excellence in the specialty of endodontics.
Dr. Burroughs is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, and a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association and the 5th District Dental Society. Additionally, Dr. Burroughs continues to proudly serve in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
Dr. Burroughs and his wife are the proud parents of four boys. They are avid supporters of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, as well as the U.S. Military and local First Responders.
In addition to Dr. Burroughs years of training and experience, he uses a triad of state-of-the-art equipment that you simply will not find in most dental offices. This technology allows Dr. Burroughs to provide you with an accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment plan, and the highest quality specialized care.
The overall health of our patients is our number one concern. To limit radiation to our patients, our office features digital x-rays. With up to 80% less radiation exposure then that of conventional x-rays, the digital images we acquire give us 2D pictures of your teeth that aid in appropriately diagnosing and treatment planning your care.
Dr. Burroughs also uses a surgical microscope for every procedure, allowing him to see the most detailed anatomy of your tooth. The high-powered magnification of the surgical microscope allows visualization of areas of the tooth that may have gone otherwise unnoticed, giving Dr. Burroughs the opportunity to provide the most precise treatment.
Additionally, Dr. Burroughs has 3D technology that sets a new standard for imaging and diagnostics. The dental Cone Beam CT provides a superior image with minimal radiation. The quality of the images produced gives Dr. Burroughs another dimension to view your teeth and surrounding structures that is simply not attainable with 2D digital x-rays. This advanced technology allows Dr. Burroughs the opportunity to assess for additional treatment needs that may have only become apparent during the procedure.

I was really nervous to come visit because my dentist had referred me and I hate tooth work. Dr. Burroughs and his staff were all very friendly and made me feel okay. They took a 3D scan of my jaw and some x-rays which Dr. Burroughs then went over with me (super cool!) and you could tell he is one of those people that loves what he does and that's why he's so great. He's also calming while you're in the chair getting some tests done and will explain what he's doing and why if you need it. I don't need to come back because turns out my tooth is fine and I count that as another great thing for him too, he is honest about if you need help or not and what to watch out for if/when you need him in the future.

I was in Kansas City for training and had a infected tooth and was going to be in town for another week. His staff and him squeezed me in an were able to get me in for a root canal. The procedure was painless other than the usual numbness and slight tenderness afterwards but was taken care of and done. If I could give ten stars I would.

The staff were friendly and courteous, Every step of the procedure was explained. My comfort was frequently checked on. Nobody wants a root canal, but if you need one, this is the place to go.

Highly recommended! Extremely clean and comfortable office. All of the staff are extremely helpful and professional. Dr. Burroughs explained every step and gave options for every part of the process. Their follow up was prompt, thorough, and they did an excellent job on my teeth.

I'm not sure I have the proper words. I left in tears today but not in pain, tears of relief, tears of joy. I found Dr. Burroughs through friends of mine. I only wish I had found him years ago. I have never in my 43 years gone to an Endodontist where I didn't leave in excruciating pain. Dr. Burroughs I still am in complete awe. I truly didn't think it was possible. I had an emergency root canal today and I just can't believe how fast and effective this went. I didn't believe it when she said it would be pain free. I don't know how you do it but truthfully did not feel any pain from this at all. The last few days before I came in were some of the most painful, scary days of my life. You and your staff deserve the highest praise there is. Thank You for your wisdom, integrity, professionalism, kindness, and compassion.

All I can say is wow. I called when they first opened for an emergency root canal. As my tooth pain have been keeping me up for two nights with zero sleep. I was in town on business in overland Park area. Erica immediately recognized that I needed help. He went above and beyond. Working with the rest of the staff so that I could get an appointment. 2 hours later I was in I had my root canal done in record time and I was finally able to get some sleep. A big thank you to Dr Burroughs Erica and the rest of the staff.

I've had multiple root canals, and I have a lot of dental anxiety. This place makes you feel so comfortable. They explain the process, they're very nice, and they make sure to answer any questions you have. If you're scared (or not), go here. I cannot stress this enough. No issues here.

Dr. Burroughs and his staff were incredible. I was told by my dentist Monday that I needed a root canal and by Thursday Dr. Burroughs had me in his office. He and his assistant were quick but thorough. I was in and out of his chair in 45 minutes and by Saturday evening--I was pain free. Unfortunately I have some gum issues because of immunosuppressant therapy....so I have had a few root canals by the dentist. Going to a specialist is a night and day difference. I highly recommend them...top-notch!!!!

This my first visit to BE...and from the moment I stepped into the office I felt comfortable. A welcoming presence at the desk, and a brief explanation of what I was needed to do before the appointment. The dental assistant made sure I was comfortable, and talked me through all of the prep work. Finally, Dr. Burroughs took over and did an amazing job. I was so comfortable, I think I even fell asleep while they were performing the root canal. After completion of the procedure, he showed me the x-rays explaining what they had done. Highly recommended if you are apprehensive about having a root canal... glad I got to meet you all, but really hope I don't have to do this again!!
