Dr. Jim Lu, DDS graduated from Emory University in 2009 with a BA in Biology. He completed dental school at the University of Maryland-Baltimore School of Dentistry in 2015 with a Degree in Dental Surgery. While in dental school, he completed a 1 year Oral Surgery Clerkship and participated in numerous community outreach and volunteer events to provide dental care, education and oral cancer screening for underserved communities in Maryland. After dental school, he completed a 1 year General Practice Residency at Westchester Medical Center in New York where he received advanced training in prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, and the management of medically compromised patients. He continues to take hundreds of hours of continuing dental education annually to keep up with advances in dentistry and to provide the highest quality dental care.
Sedation dentistry offers individuals with general anxiety about going to the dentist or fears about a specific dental procedure the opportunity to have a stress free and more comfortable experience. Utilizing safe and controlled sedation techniques prior to the dental procedure the patient is eased into a state of complete relaxation. This eliminates any discomfort, pain, and preoperative anxiety that may be associated with a particular dental visit. With sedation dentistry patients typically feel more at ease post-operatively as they have little or no memory of the actual moment-to-moment dental procedure.
Commonly referred to as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is used as a mild sedative to reduce anxiety and allow a level of relaxation during a procedure. Nitrous oxide is inhaled through a small mask over the nose. It is administered for the duration of the procedure and is turned off as the procedure is coming to an end. The effects of this method of sedation wear off very quickly.

Amazing the ladies were beyond welcoming felt very comfortable. Dr.LU is amazing! very soft spoken gets straight to the point. Very gentle explains everything in full detail just all around great dentist!!!!

I followed DR Lu from Asheboro. He took the time to try to ease the symptoms of my autoimmune disorder. I have always been treated with kindness and I travel over an hour now to see him. But he and his staff are irreplaceable in my book. Thank you so much for going the extra mile to help me.

The staff is incredible. They were able to fit me in last minute for an emergency visit and all treated me with respect and compassion. Haven't been to the dentist in over 5 years because of anxiety, but Dr. Lu made me feel comfortable and explained everything thoroughly. My family and I have found our new dentist!

This place is a NO STAR. The guy gave me a root canal and didn't bother to tell me which tooth he done it on and didn't prescribe me any antibiotics after the root canal. I had to take a trip to the ER because of them. My gums swollen, can't eat, can't drink, my pain is a whole 10. Now thankfully I have another dentist to fix the problem. Honestly if I were you I wouldnt waste my time with this place they need to be shut down or something because this is rediculous. Then the person who answers the phone going to try and argue with me like excuse you but you can't be talking to your customers like that .

Recently I was diagnosed by an emergency room doctor with sepsis due to an infected tooth. I was told I needed it extracted ASAP or the infection could spread. The next morning I called Burlington Dental and went in for an emergency extraction. Was seen by Dr. Shane Lu and a really awesome dental hygienist. Within minutes I went from filling out paperwork, x-ray, numbing, and then immediate extraction. I don't think you can get an oil change this fast! I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Dr. Shane Lu was a good listener, very informative, and straight to the point. Had some questions a few days following the procedure and although Dr. Shane was not in the office, he still took initiative to follow-up outside of office hours. 10/10 would recommend this office to anyone in need of exemplary service.

I absolutely love this dentist. I have had such a grate experience here. The front lady is awesome she is so kind and welcoming. The dentist is amazing he made sure I was comfortable and did a really good job on my teeth.

I had a toothache so I was able to schedule an appointment with this office in the same day. My traditional dentist still has yet to return my voicemail I left 2 days ago. I went in expecting my tooth to be decayed beyond repair and possibly needing a root canal. I was relieved to find out that my teeth were fine and it was a simple issue with my gums. Many other dentists would've tried to sell me an expensive treatment that was unnecessary. This office has gained my trust.

awful and unprofessional! The staff never answers the phone or returns voicemail, called 3 days straight trying to reschedule with no answer then they want to punish me for rescheduling without a 48 hour notice! Wow and now the "owner" is replying to my post lying saying that their texts and emails were ignored! They don't even have my email address and their text say, "Text C for confirm or call for conflict" which I did 3 days before this appointment with no answer or returned calls! This place is the definition of unprofessional. Don't waste your time with these people.
