Despite your best efforts, teeth sometimes need to be removed to protect your health. When we've discussed all other possibilities, and you've decided on extraction, we'll take every step to help you. Your well-being always takes priority in any treatment decision. Some patients prefer sedationto help with oral surgery, and we can review these options in your treatment plan. You can trust we take every measure to make sure even minor surgical procedures are as comfortable as possible.
Some teeth are removed more easily than others, but the Bulverde Dental team takes pride in helping every patient get numb with modern anesthetics to start every procedure. Once anesthesia settles in, Dr. Guy Peterson uses specialized instruments to elevate the tooth out of place. You will receive specific post-op instructions help you care for the area after your procedure, with prescriptions for any medications needed during the healing period.
While our immediate concern is the short-term management of your care, we will also discuss your long-term plans for replacing missing teeth. Leaving a space is always an option, but spaces in your smile can create appearance and function challenges that are important to consider. Teeth slowly shift or migrate into open spaces, and minimizing the effects of an unbalanced bite can prevent issues later in life.
Although our primary goal is to help your teeth stay healthy and functional, an extraction is sometimes the best way to preserve the overall health of your mouth. Since teeth help nourish our bodies and support our confidence, we will help you find a game plan that fits your short and long-term goals.
Dr. Peterson was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. He received his bachelors degree in biomedical science in 1998 from Texas A&M University, where he was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets and is still very passionate about all Aggie traditions and sports teams. Dr. Peterson earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree cum laude from the UT Health School of Dentistry in San Antonio. He then completed a residency through the San Antonio VA Hospital, where he learned the advanced techniques of sedation dentistry, wisdom teeth removal, and dental Implant placement and restoration. During his time in San Antonio, he fell in love with the Texas Hill Country and decided to make it his home.
When he is not working, he and his wife, Mindy, stay busy with their three children. He can often be found volunteering and coaching youth football, basketball, and baseball. His family also enjoys traveling, camping, boating, hunting, and fishing.

Dr. Peterson and the staff are always top notch. Every person in the office makes you feel comfortable and even in our current environment, they are second to none. I have been a patient for over 20 years, and love the office, the hygienists, and the care that Dr. Peterson provides so much that I travel from Boerne to get cleanings and dental care.

I broke my old crown at one pm , I called Bulverde Dental, and they got me In at 4pm . I wasn't even a patient of their's. Did the exam and set me up to complete the work the next morning. They did a great job and pretty much painlessly. I highly recommend Bulverde Dental and Dr Guy Peterson. Thank you so much.

Dr. Peterson has a well run first class dental office. I have been a patient for a number of years, and I have no plans of changing. I am not the best patient, but I am glad that they put up with me and all my idiosyncracy.

This is without a doubt the best dentist experience I've ever had. Exceptional staff, convenient location, modern technology. On the first visit, Doctor Peterson actually took the time to actually understand what my needs/goals were before telling me what I needed! Definitely a first for me. Very nice and friendly staff. The doctor follows your procedures throughout your dental issues and once decided what's needed to be done his assistant was very educated ,patient felt at home and her soft speech puts you at ease and knowledgeable always keeping you informed what's she's doing as she does the procedure.
