Many patients avoid the dentist because of fear and anxiety. Dental phobia is a serious condition that prevents people from getting the care they need. Without routine visits to the dentist office, patients can face tooth loss, gum disease, and oral cancers.
Dr. Warren offers nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas, to help patients relax during their procedure. Nitrous oxide is inhaled through a special mask. The patient remains awake and alert throughout treatment. The so called laughing gas produces a calming affect, allowing the patient to have procedures done without fear or anxiety.
The standard in modern dentistry, digital dental x-rays give Dr. Warren a clear picture of the teeth, bones, and joints. Though some patients feel them unnecessary, dental x-rays are an important tool used to diagnose a patients dental condition. Without this snapshot of the interior workings of the oral system, the dentist is forced to simply guess at what might be causing the problems.
Dental x-rays may be used to screen for hidden problems such as oral cancer, gum disease and TMJ disorders. The digital images allow Dr. Warren to look for changes in the structure of teeth over a period of time.
Digital x-rays expose patients to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays and are significantly faster and more comfortable. Because they dont require chemicals to develop or space to store, digital dental x-rays are eco-friendly. The digital format can also be easily shared with other medical professionals when needed.
The IntraOral Camera is one of the leading technologies in modern dentistry. A tiny video camera on a wand like probe moves comfortably inside the mouth around the teeth and gums to easily and accurately identify problems in their earliest stages.
The images captured from the IntraOral Camera are magnified and displayed instantly on a computer screen. Both the dentist and patient can see the images, allowing an open discussion about the issues and best ways to treat them. With the IntraOral Camera, it is easy to recognize potential problems in very early stages that might be missed during a traditional visual examination.
As with the digital dental x-rays, a patients progress can easily be tracked and recorded using the IntraOral Camera. Before and after pictures can be easily taken and stored in the patients digital health record.
Dr. Warren uses laser dentistry to treat a variety of conditions, one of the many benefits is faster healing times and more comfortable treatment. Soft tissue dental lasers are used to treat gum tissue and other soft tissue in the mouth. One of the most common procedures is forgum recontouring, known as crown lengthening. Patients who have what is considered a gummy smile may benefit from crown lengthening which removes excess gum tissue to reveal more tooth structure.
