Dr. Jennifer Buchanan began her practice in 1996 and has been creating winning smiles and supporting the McKinney community every since. Dr. Buchanan earned her Bachelors Degree in Secondary Science Education at the University of Texas at Austin, then went on to attain her DDS and Masters Degree in Orthodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry.
I have worked for Dr. Buchanan since April, 2009. Ive lived in McKinney since 1974, been married since 1983 with 3 children and 3 grandchildren, earned a BA in Sociology from UTD, and have worked in various areas of finance/insurance for 35 years. I have several hobbies but the most enjoyable is long distance hiking and backpacking. Interesting fact: My maiden name is Wilmeth, Im a direct descendent of J.B. Wilmeth, a famous settler of McKinney in 1848.
I have been working with Dr. Buchanan since 2000 and that is when I started my orthodontic career. Seeing patients transformation and their confidence grow makes me love my job. I am a proud mom of a U.S. Army soldier; who is my pride and joy! In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and my wonderful two pups Lexie and Lola!
Getting to know patients on a personal level, seeing patient transformations, and watching confidence soar are just a few reasons I love orthodontics.I have been in the dental field for seven years. My boyfriend and I recently moved back to Texas from Maui. My puppy cornbread keeps me on my toes and gives me lots of love!

Hello! I first started Orthodontics in 1997 as a clinincal assistant. I love my position as Treatment Coordinator and helping our new patients on their journey towards a beautiful smile. Our office has the most advanced technology available. What has impressed me the most about Dr. Buchanan is her genuine compassion for her patients and staff.
I have been in the dental industry for 10 years, and joined Dr. Buchanans team in late 2014. I am bilingual in both English and Spanish, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing in early 2013. What I love most about my job is seeing our patients transformation, and seeing how much their confidence grows because of it. I am blessed to work with such a patient and caring staff. Dr. Buchanans constant involvement with the community, and her generous heart, make it easy for me to be part of such a wonderful organization.
I was born in Dallas and moved to McKinney in 2016. After graduation, I pursued a career in retail sales and prior to joining the team at Buchanan Orthodontics, I was a manager at Sonic. I love spending time with my 10 nieces and nephews all who live nearby. Learning this business has been the best thing that ever happened to me, second to my faith in Jesus Christ. Building relationships with our patients and seeing the joy the transformation brings is why I'm so excited to come to work every day. Dr. B truly cares about all of her patients and giving back to the community. It is such a blessing to work here.

Along with her teams concern for every patient and their shared commitment to bringing the latest in orthodontic technology to the practice, Dr. Buchanans sense of compassion reaches out beyond her office and into the community as a whole, where she is involved with local charities including Community Lifeline, the Community Food Pantry, and the Collin County Boys and Girls Club. Dr. Buchanan is the founder of Smiles Charity, which raises funds to build mortgage-free homes for severely wounded veterans. Since 2008 she has hosted the annual Smiles Charity Concert, a free outdoor festival that has become a McKinney institution. In 2013 she started Shoes for Smiles that has awarded over 800 pairs of new athletic shoes to the Collin County Boys and Girls Club students while recycling over 35,000 pounds of pre-owned clothing and shoes.
Dr. Buchanan is a former Board Member of the McKinney Rotary Club, the McKinney Education Foundation, and the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. She also is Past President of the Stonebridge Ranch Ladies Association. She was named Citizen of the Year in 2009 and Small Business of the Year in 2002. Through both her practice and her deep involvement in civic organizations, Dr. Buchanan is proud to be a part of the thriving McKinney community and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to it. As for her profession, she says, Being an orthodontist is rewarding in so many ways. It is a blessing to be creating winning smiles that last a lifetime!

After 22 months of excellent care and attention to detail, my teeth are beautifully straight!! They look amazing. I love the staff and Dr. Buchanan!! Truly a top notch group of people!! I would highly recommend them. Thank you Buchanan Orthodontics!!

Dr. Buchanan and her team are amazing! From the moment I walked in on my first visit, they made me feel so welcome. They took great care of me throughout my treatment. Our entire family has seen Dr.Buchanan for braces including myself! Yes, I wore braces in my late 40's and it was so worth it. Dr.Buchanan is amazing and my teen boys and I loved the staff! We highly recommend this practice no matter your age!

Dr. Buchanan is a true professional. She looked for the root cause of my daughter's severe misalignment, rather than just selling us a quick fix that may have failed later or caused greater problems. We're extremely grateful for her thoroughness and expertise.

Dr. Buchanan and her staff are absolutely amazing! This will be my 4th time going through treatment (the orthodontic technology and knowledge wasn't the same when I first went through care over 20 years ago!). Dr. Buchanan is corrected what jaw surgery, expanders, and three sets of braces couldn't before! She cares about the whole picture when it comes to care and making sure that everything is addressed so that your smile stands the test of time! Coming from someone who has been through it all when it comes to teeth, don't go anywhere else! Go see Dr. Buchanan and do it right the first time so you only have to do it once!

I went to Dr. Buchanan as a teen for braces and over a decade later have been back this year after needing to get my permanent retainer fixed and another issue that arose from my own lack of aftercare. On my first visit back I felt genuinely cared for and and was treated by every, truly every staff member I encountered with such kindness and in a personable way! That experience has yet to change with more visits since then. I have walked out every visit genuinely feeling thankful! Not only that, but Dr. Buchanan and her team really sought to help me in the most cost-effective way regarding the issue rather than trying to push a product. Seeing genuine character of a practice speaks volumes and I would highly recommend Dr. Buchanan and her team!

Dr. Buchanan & her staff are the very best. They provided quality care and great communication at every appointment. My daughter enjoyed her experience, and now has a beautiful smile she feels confident and happy with! I love how Dr. Buchanan empowers her teenage patients to own their braces maintenance and appointments offering prizes and raffles along the way. Dr. Buchanan and her staff are so personable and great at explaining each process. Seeing my daughter smiling ear to ear beaming with pride is a great feeling as a parent. Thank you again!! I would recommend Dr Buchanan and her amazing team to anyone! Even driving 40 miles each way wasn't a deterrent because she is the best. When others suggested jaw surgery, she examined me and developed a plan that was stellar, without surgery. She also helped me find a dentist willing to collaborate with her and the two worked as a team. Dr Buchanan goes above and beyond. She and her team are always welcoming and so knowledgeable. I am so happy that I've take this journey with them!!!

I have to thank Dr.Buchanan and her wonderful staff for giving me such a great smile. I have wanted braces my whole life but was always told i needed jaw surgery. Dr.Buchanan was the only Orthodontist who could treat me without surgery! I was a little skeptical at first but couldn't be happier with my treatment and results. Two years later I still love my smile!

Buchanan Orthodontics is the most amazing state of the art orthodontics. After consulting several places we chose Buchanan Orthodontics because of Dr. Buchanan & Kathy Thomas. No pulling teeth & awkward head gear, just the most amazing braces system I've ever seen. Kathy sees my son & works with his sensory issues to get the work done while making him comfortable. Kathy answers all my questions and never makes me feel bad for wanting to understand the process. We are so thankful for Kathy & Dr. B.

PLEASE READ: I'm truly shocked at how many positive reviews Dr. Buchanan has. I have been to several dentists in this area and they've all been able to identify who my orthodontist was just by looking at my teeth because they are too close together to even floss and my bite isn't functional. Apparently this is common amongst her patients and I've been told to seek additional orthodontia even though my teeth appear straight. I was only in Dr. Buchanan's care for 2 years (2011-2013) yet I've been dealing with complications from it ever since, she even shaved down one of my canines without telling me first so that I could get my braces off sooner. If you or your children need orthodontic care I am BEGGING you to look elsewhere, my parents spent thousands of dollars for me and my siblings to have braces just for none of us to be able to floss our teeth or have our teeth fit together properly. Yes she's nice, her office is fancy, and she holds charity events but I'm convinced she doesn't actually care about her patients teeth and is just in it for the money. Ask any dentist or orthodontist in the area and I guarantee they will tell you the exact same thing.
