At Desert Dental Alternatives, it is our mission to accurately diagnose oral health concerns and then discuss all of the available options with patients so that they can select a treatment that best meets their unique needs. We believe that by educating our patients, they will be more confident about their care and take a more active role in maintaining their oral hygiene. This website is intended to serve as a resource, and we hope you find it both useful and interesting.

Our lead dentist, Dr. Bruno Lemay, founded Desert Dental Alternatives in 2002. He draws upon extensive training and experience to serve the diverse oral health needs of our patients. Furthermore, Dr. Lemay has advanced skill and knowledge of dental implants. He has given numerous lectures on the subject and also founded the Canadian Mini Dental Implant Institute, an organization that provides seminars on mini dental implants, one of the latest techniques in restorative dentistry.

You will know you have arrived at Desert Dental Alternatives when you see our giant tooth sculpture that sits out front of our practice. Within our beautifully decorated office, we work hard to create a welcoming atmosphere where you can remain relaxed throughout your visit. We proudly utilize state-of-the-art dental technology, including intra-oral cameras, a YAG laser, and an apex locater, so you can trust that you are receiving the highest level of care. In addition, we are one of the only practices in the area to feature an in-office computerized tomography (CT) scanner, which allows us to create detailed 3-D images of your teeth and jaw.

The team at Desert Dental Alternatives has the knowledge, skill, and tools to provide you with a comprehensive range of oral care services, from basic cleanings and examinations to complex endodontic procedures and oral surgeries. If you are missing teeth and seeking the unparalleled benefits of dental implants, but have found that insufficient jawbone density is precluding you from treatment, we can perform a bone grafting procedure to help you qualify.

As part of our commitment to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for each and every patient we see, we offer oral-conscious sedation for individuals who suffer from dental anxiety. Our dentists are also available for dental emergencies to provide you with outstanding oral care when you need it most.

Even if you are missing an entire row of teeth, a custom-made denture can help renew the beauty of your smile and restore your oral function. Traditional dentures feature a gum-colored base and artificial teeth, and they are secured with suction, clasps, or dental adhesives. However, advances in restorative dentistry have led to the introduction of implant-supported dentures, which offer an unparalleled level of strength.

Conventional dentures rest on top of gums to replace missing teeth. These types of dentures are removable, typically more affordable, and available to virtually anyone with extensive tooth loss. To begin planning your traditional denture, we will first take detailed impressions of your smile. Next, this information will be used to create a wax-up model, which allows you to see the anticipated results and ensure treatment will achieve your goals. Your denture will then be custom-crafted at an advanced dental laboratory in the area. We have have worked with the same lab for nearly a decade because they provide high-quality dentures made from a range of aesthetically pleasing materials. Once your denture has been fabricated, which typically takes about a week, you will return to receive it and ensure a comfortable fit.

Dental implants are small metal posts that are surgically placed in the jaw to act as artificial tooth roots. Although these dentures are typically more expensive and the process of receiving them requires more steps, many patients feel their unmatched benefits and exceptional strength make them a worthy investment. In order to qualify for dental implants, you should be in good oral and overall health. Additionally, you must have a sufficient amount of jawbone density to support the implant posts. If we find that you lack the necessary jawbone strength, we may be able to perform a bone grafting procedure to restore strength and help you qualify.

During implant surgery, we will place mini dental implants, which are smaller than standard types, directly into the jaw. The implants will be left to heal for four to six months so that they can completely fuse with the surrounding bone. Not only will this implant-to-bone integration ensure your denture will never move out of place, it will also help to halt the bone atrophy that naturally occurs after tooth loss. Only implant-supported restorations can offer this benefit.

Dental implants are titanium tooth 'roots' that are used to replace missing natural roots. Once in place, they become firmly attached to the bone. After they are solidly affixed to the bone (this process is called 'Osseointegration'), an artificial tooth is attached to the implant.

Dental scientists have been experimenting with methods of restoring missing teeth with 'permanent artificial replacements' throughout history. Dental implants can betraced as far back as the ancient Egyptians. Modern dental implants and the appropriate techniques for their use were refined during the 1950 's and 60 's. An extensive period of clinical tests and improvements in implant design and delivery techniques started their general popularity in the 1989 's.During the past quarter century, designs continued to improve and an ever-increasing number of dentists began to train and learn their delivery techniques. As of today, the art and science of placing dental implants has become extremely popular. It is a routine restorative procedure in many dental offices and is in use all over the world.

Yes. Dental implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes and can have a surface of titanium or titanium that is coated with a substance that encourages the bone to attach it to the implant. The two main categories of dental implants are the full-sized implants and minidental implants. The variety of sizes, shapes and configurations is necessary because of the wide range of anatomical differences that patients present. Such factors as amount of bone, bone quality, the shape and relationship of the upper and lower jaws and the amount of implants required to restore a mount are some of the reasons for the different selection of implant systems.

The ideal candidate for dental implants have good general and oral health, and be free of periodontal disease. Additionally, the individual should have adequate bone in the jaw to support the implant(s).

Sinus Lift:The upper back jaw has traditionally been oneof the most difficult areas to successfully place dental implants, due to insufficient bone quantity/quality and the close proximity to the sinus cavity. Sinus lifts can be performed to 'Lift' the sinus floor thereby developing bone for the placement of dental implants.

Ridge Modification:Sometimes deformities in the upper or lower jaw can leave inadequate bone in which to place dental implants. To correct this situation, the gum can be 'lifted' away from the ridge to expose the bony defect. The defect is then filled with bone or bone substitute to 'build up' the ridge. Ridge modification greatly improves chances for successfully placing dental implants.

I would give them ZERO stars if I could. The only constant services were the hygenist which I'm sorry to lose because they're outstanding. Over two years, I was treated by THREE different dentists, but never Dr. Lemay. Every time I went in, I would meet a new dentist. The poor care that I received was primarily due to the lack of continuity I complained about a crown they installed several times, but they discarded my concerns. I gave up and made an appointment with a different provider. I received a second opinion from another dentist, proving that I was right.

Dr. Lemay and his staff are consummate professionals, everyone is nice and the office is run like a finely-tuned machine. It's been a consistently smooth experience with every visit. Each time I come in, I'm more impressed by the amazing time management and the tight coordination between the office staff and the dentists. If you're looking for a thorough and skilled cosmetic dentist in the Cathedral City and Palm Springs area, then give Desert Dental Alternatives a try. Dr. Lemay's skillset is virtually limitless, the equipment and tools that they utilize are modern and the office is really clean. This is truly precision dentistry meets skilled artistry, I can't recommend them enough.

Dr. Lemay designed and installed my full mouth reconstruction including a lower implant secured denture and upper crowns plus a removable. partial. He also is one of a few doctors in the area to complete the entire reconstruction including consultation, design, surgery, and fitting. Most offices have 2-3 practices involved, with Dr. Lamay, one doctor knows the procedure from start to finish. Excellent work all done 3-4 years ago. Recently the implant denture started slipping loose so I called. For no charge, Dr. Lamay fit me into a busy schedule the following day and patiently replaced some parts because now there were better materials than were available when the initial surgery was performed. I was there for more than an hour of his time and I was not charged a dime. A rare occurrence these days!

We started here in 2004. I've had a a five star review up here for years, but I can no longer leave that rating in good conscience and I'm crushed about it. The staff and dentists are delightful people and always pleasant.

Took my 83 year old Mom there today as she has been complaining her dentures dont fit and keep falling out. I didnt get the doctors name.(super cute and looked about 18 years old lol) He was so nice and patient with my Mom. He told us that her top dentures were fine, she was putting them in wrong. He showed her the correct way to put them in and told her to wet them first. He could have told us hers were no good and charged us to make new ones but he didn't! Now that is s truly caring doctor. Very rare these days. The assistant was also super nice and patient as well. I highly recommend this dental practice and will be sure to let everyone I know what a positive experience we had.
