I have lived and practiced dentistry in Wayland, Michigan since 1984. I moved here after graduating from the University of Michigan with a bachelors degree in 1980 and with my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the UMs School of Dentistry in 1984.

With a true love for small-town living, I have enjoyed being an active member and supporter of the Wayland community as part of the Wayland Planning Commission, the Wayland City Council, the Wayland Lions Club, the Wayland Area Chamber of Commerce and the Wayland Union Education Foundation. I am also a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the West Michigan Dental Society and the Chicago Dental Society.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, spending time with my wife and deer hunting. Put me in the woods with my bow in the fall and I am a happy guy. I am a huge fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Grand Rapids Griffins. Plus, Ive spent my entire life being disappointed by the Detroit Lions. My wife Sara and I have been married since 1989 and have a blended family of four adult children, Nick, Emily, Michelle, and Jeremy. We currently have three grandchildren and two great grandchildren who keep us endlessly entertained, grateful, and busy!

A Kalamazoo local and graduate of KVCC with an associates degree in dental hygiene, Ive been a member of Dr. Sextons team since 1994. I love meeting new patients, introducing them to the latest dental technology, and nurturing long-term relationships with my patients. In my free time, I enjoy reading, studying the Bible, exercising, paddleboarding, snowshoeing, visiting Lake Michigan beaches, and spending time with my three adult children.

I graduated from GRCC in both Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene. I started my awesome journey at Dr. Sextons office in 2007 as a Registered Dental Hygienist and I couldnt be happier! Four days a week I strive to give the best dental treatment possible, form lasting relationships and to have fun! I live in Byron Center with my husband Mike, our golden retriever Lola and an orange tabby named Cooper. I have 2 beautiful daughters in their twenties Grace and Kenzi. In my free time, I can most likely be found at Sandy Pines floating on the lake or golfing.

I have been a part of the business team since 1991. I love the family atmosphere in the office and all the opportunities to learn new things. I will assist you with any questions you have on your treatment, insurance benefits, and selecting the best financing option to fit your budget. I live in Caledonia with my husband, Jeremy where we raised our 2 daughters. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

I officially became a part of Dr. Sextons team in December of 2013. Unofficially, I have been around the office for a long time as Dr. Sextons trophy wife since 1989. I have 4 grown children, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grand daughters, 2 dogs of my own and at least 7 grand dogs. I have lived in Wayland most of my life and enjoy the sense of community that is personified in a small town like Wayland. I love to travel, read, listen to audiobooks and remodel our home room by room in an endless circle! Without a doubt, my favorite pastime is haunting any kind of thrift store for treasures I didnt know I neededat a bargain!

I graduated as a hygienist from GRCC in 2007. Ive worked in several different types of dental offices including general practices, a clinic setting and as a substitute dental hygienist all over West Michigan. Im very excited to be a part of Dr. Sextons team and I will be in the office on Monday and Wednesday.

I love being a Dental Hygienist! My favorite aspect of my career is getting to know my patients. I enjoy hearing about their families, hobbies and the day-to-day happenings in their lives. My patients teach me so much and I get to teach them and help them stay healthy in many ways. As a hygienist I also enjoy continuing education classes and wearing comfy scrubs to work.

I am a Wayland Union High School alumni and I started working with Dr. Sexton in June of 2004 after finishing Dental Assistant training at Olympia Career Training Institute. After taking a couple year break to pursue other endeavors, I returned as a part-time dental assistant in 2017. My favorite part of my job is the people. I love helping people feel comfortable at their dental visits and I love the team I work with! When not at work I enjoy spending time with my son Domanik, boyfriend Kyle, and our 4 cats, Zeus, Hero, Vinny, and Monster. I love painting, glass bead jewelry making, wire wrapping stones, polishing stones and tooling leather to make cuff bracelets.

Hi, I'm Kenzi! I started working at the office in June 2020 to help out post COVID shutdown. I work in the clinic assisting the hygienist so we can all run efficiently. In my down time I hang out with my boyfriend of 5 years, Jared, and we enjoy fancy coffee and vacations. I'm also taking classes at GRCC but not sure what Im pursuing quite yet. I know you will enjoy this office as much as I do!

I graduated in 2013 with my degree in Medical Office Management where I was on the Presidents list, National Honor Society and graduated in the top of my class. I have worked at a few other medical/dental facilities over the past 15 years and joined Dr. Sextons team in 2014, where I finally feel I am home. I am excited to be working in the community where I live. I have experience in medical and dental claims, insurance and billing. I will do my best to answer any questions you may have with your insurance policy, treatment, and billing.

I joined the Bruce Sexton DDS team in December 2016 as the scheduling coordinator. After several years of being the voice you would most often hear on the phone, I transitioned roles to become the clinical coordinator in 2020. I am also our lead new patient coordinator and working with new patients is the absolute best part of my day! I enjoy working with people and feel blessed to work with a hard working, driven, and passionate team of professionals everyday. As a previous student of Wayland Union schools, I am excited to be working within my hometown community again. When I am not at the office you will find me spending time with my son, Collyn, & friends and family. We spend a lot of time outdoors hiking, playing with our coonhounds, Sadie and Marlee, and exploring beaches. I also enjoy reading, whole food cooking, live music, and group fitness classes.

I joined Dr. Bruce Sexton's team in February of 2020. I grew up in the Wayland area and graduated from Wayland Union High School. After graduating high school, I went on to be a Cosmetologist. After a long and very rewarding career, I decided to close that chapter and head in a new direction to try something new. I am excited to be a part of such a fun hardworking dental team and serve the community in a different atmosphere. As the scheduling coordinator, I am here to keep our schedule organized and efficient to allow us to service your needs in a prompt manner. I am one of the many voices you may hear when calling our office and I am happy to help answer any questions you might have. Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 15 years. We have three beautiful daughters and a Chihuahua named Gizzy. We enjoy taking day trips around this beautiful state, especially the lake shore. We love spending as much time outdoors as we can, whether it be a hiking adventure or just sitting around a bonfire with friends, its always a great time!

Im one of Dr. Sextons new assistants, and I couldnt be happier to be a part of this team. Ever since I was little, I wanted to be in the medical field to be able to help people, so Im extremely grateful for this opportunity. I graduated from Byron Center High School in 2018 and Im now majoring in Spanish at Grand Valley State University. I spend most of my free time with my friends, and I love animals!

I joined Dr. Sextons team in 2017 after graduating with a degree in dental hygiene from Ferris State University. My favorite part of being a dental hygienist is helping patients keep their smiles beautiful and healthy. I am married to a dedicated teacher, Brody, and we have two very affectionate dogs, Rafiki and Bentley. I love spending time with my family, friends, and dogs. Other hobbies include gardening, reading, going to the lake, and disc golfing.

I am a Wayland High School alumni and that is where I met my husband Ayden. We now have 3 crazy kids Hudson, Marlowe and Brewer, as well as a handful of animals including dogs, chickens, and a kitten. I graduated from Davenport University in 2012 and have since been working in different dental care offices such as general practice, clinics, and oral surgeons. I just recently joined Dr. Sexton and his team and cannot be more excited.

When I have free time I enjoy being outside with my family as long as the weather is decent. We enjoy camping, golfing, taking the kids to try new and fun things, and finding projects for me (my husband) to do around the house.

I graduated from Wayland Union High School in 2020. Working in the dental field has always been something I've been passionate about. I have recently joined Dr. Sextons office and I am very excited to see where this opportunity will take me. In my free time I enjoy spending my days boating on Gun Lake with my family and friends.

For a lifetime of good oral health and a positive relationship with the dentist, the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that your baby has their first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth erupting (whichever comes first).

During their first dental visit, youll hold your baby on your lap while we gently examine their jaws and any teeth that have erupted. Dr. Sexton and his team will also answer your questions, and provide developmentally specific guidance on how you can best care for your babys smile in between visits.

Along with routine dental visits, you can support your childs oral and overall health with daily at-home cleaning as soon as they have one or more teeth. Starting at birth, Dr. Sexton recommends using a soft infant toothbrush or clean cloth with water to gently clean the gums twice daily. Once teeth have erupted, start brushing their teeth twice daily with a smear of fluoridated toothpaste on an age-appropriate toothbrush, moving to a pea-size amount of toothpaste between ages 2 and 5. Continue helping your child brush for two minutes a day until theyre able to do so alone, flossing between your childs teeth as soon as they have two or more teeth that are touching.

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that can help prevent cavities and strengthen your childs teeth. A professional fluoride treatment is a fast, safe, simple, and pain-free preventative dentistry treatment that delivers a concentrated dose of topical fluoride directly to the surface of your childs teeth and is typically applied two to four times annually.

Dental sealants are a safe, simple, long-lasting, and pain-free preventative dental treatment. Sealants can prevent up to 80% of cavities when combined with routine dental visits, a healthy diet, and daily brushing and flossing. Sealants are a thin coating of clear, body-safe plastic that protect the textured and grooved surface of your childs back teeth, where food debris and bacteria are mostly likely to get stuck and cause cavities.

You can empower your childs best oral health at every age by helping your child prevent cavities. Certain snacks and drinks, such as bread, crackers, pasta, candy, cookies, cakes, chips, sodas, fruit juices, and sports drinks, can literally stick to your childs teeth, prolonging exposure to harmful sugars, starches, and acids. You can help your child reduce this risk by limiting certain treats and drinks and providing a diet full of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milk, meat, and beans.
