Dr. Elkind was born in NY and relocated to West Palm Beach when he was a teenager. He attended UF for his undergraduate degreeand went todental schoolat WVU. He came back to Florida to open hisDental Practice in 1985 and has been improving smiles ever since.
He serves the Wellington, Royal Palm Beach and Loxahatchee communities. He has membership in theAmerican Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Central Palm Beach County Dental Society, is a Charter member of the Royal Palm Beach Rotary Club, and belongs to NPI, a business networking group. He hasthree children, the oldest was workingas an engineer at Glidewell Dental Lab inCalifornia. His daughter, graduated from UF Dental School and is a practicing dentist in Parkland, Florida. His youngest son graduated Northwestern Medical School and is doing his residency at UCSD, California.

Tooth decay and periodontal disease are the most common causes of tooth loss. Tooth decay takes place when most of the tooths mineral makeup has been dissolved away and a hole (cavity) has formed. While tooth decay primarily affects children, periodontal disease, or gum disease, affects mostly adults. Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums caused by the buildup of plaque, and its earliest stage is known as gingivitis.

Bad hygiene, prolonged irritation of the oral cavity, and extended exposure to strong sunlight on the lips are among other causes of the disease.
