Dr. Elkind was born in NY and relocated to West Palm Beach when he was a teenager. He attended UF for his undergraduate degreeand went todental schoolat WVU. He came back to Florida to open hisDental Practice in 1985 and has been improving smiles ever since.
He serves the Wellington, Royal Palm Beach and Loxahatchee communities. He has membership in theAmerican Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Central Palm Beach County Dental Society, is a Charter member of the Royal Palm Beach Rotary Club, and belongs to NPI, a business networking group. He hasthree children, the oldest was workingas an engineer at Glidewell Dental Lab inCalifornia. His daughter, graduated from UF Dental School and is a practicing dentist in Parkland, Florida. His youngest son graduated Northwestern Medical School and is doing his residency at UCSD, California.
When not practicing dentistry or volunteering, Dr. Bruce Elkind can be seen fly-fishing, snapping photos of nature, stunt kite flying, or riding tandem bicycles with his wife, Lisa, who teaches at Wellington Elementary School. Tooth decay and periodontal disease are the most common causes of tooth loss. Tooth decay takes place when most of the tooths mineral makeup has been dissolved away and a hole (cavity) has formed. While tooth decay primarily affects children, periodontal disease, or gum disease, affects mostly adults. Bad hygiene, prolonged irritation of the oral cavity, and extended exposure to strong sunlight on the lips are among other causes of the disease. Many dentists believe vitamins A and E can help prevent the acquisition of oral cancer.
Early symptoms of oral cancer include: a sore on the lip, in the mouth, or in the throat that does not heal; a lump on the lip, in the mouth, or in the throat; a red or white patch found anywhere in the mouth; unusual pain or bleeding in the mouth; swelling of the mouth; and any difficulty or discomfort felt in chewing or swallowing.

I am not Dr. Elkind patient, but my girlfriend is, or was. She went for a cleaning before getting her Invisalign attachments. She went here because it's close to her house and She didn't want to drive to Stuart. Big mistake. When She got there She felt rushed, they didn't even let her finish her paperwork. She told them She had X-rays in November but they proceeded to take them anyway. Dr. Elkind claimed She needed a crown on her tooth and urged her to do it immediately that day because her "cavity was so deep it was almost at the nerve". She have been seeing a dentist in Stuart regularly and She only had 3 cavities in her life. In November her dentist told her one of her cavities needed to be refilled which was the same tooth Dr. Elkind said She needed a crown for. The quote for this crown was over $800 and he told her She'd have to redo her Invisalign impressions with her Orthodontist to fit her new tooth. Thankfully, She went with her gut and declined. She got a second opinion from her orthodontist and went back to her dentist in Stuart. They both agreed it was completely unnecessary for her to have a crown and both actually laughed at how ridiculous it was. She only had a small cavity that needed to be refilled. Now She received a statement in the mail for $110 that says it's 30+ days late although She received no statement prior and the bill has no explanation or date of service. Worst experience at a dentist She had and scary that he would put a crown on her perfectly good tooth to make money.

Too much to list the money and problems associated with the dentist. Went to another dentist and he said who did this work on your bridge and I told him. He Ground my orginal teeth way too far and bridge broke and failed in 2 years . All because the Bridge was too big by 10 percent and this dentist tried to hide his mistakes and grinding even my upper teeth enamel for clearance as well instead of making a new bridge. Stay away from this place at all cost . He should lose his license period.

I have gone to Dr Elkind for years. He is extremely patient and knowledgeable. He recommended an appliance for my teeth grinding. My TMJ symptoms and jaw popping had gotten really extreme so I knew I had to do something. Let me tell you the mouthguard has made such a difference. No more aching pain in my jaw . I am sleeping better. I can chew better and no more job popping! None! Thank you Dr Elkind!

Wow! Great Dr. conservative approach. Very calm. Not pushy. Found alternative solutions to complicated dental issues. Advanced, state of the art services. Offered organic solutions for my severe dental anxiety. Office staff efficient. Figured out tricky insurance issues. Worked well with previous dental office in PA.

I wish I could give more! Every single person there was amazing. Dr Elkind and his assistant (loved her!!) were beyond amazing, patient and kind. I had a dental emergency and didn't have a dentist. I found Dr Elkind and they got me in right away. They throughly explained what happened, what I should do and gave me options, and let me think about what was best for me to do for as long as I needed (in the chair taking up so much of their time) and didn't ever pressure me. I would recommend them over and over again!
