Dr. Bruce Cummings is a well-known Kansas City Prosthodontist. He opened his reconstructive dental practice in 1991, providing rehabilitative restorative dental care with an emphasis on cosmetic and implant prosthodontics.
Dr. Cummings received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, where he received the Gold Cane Award, was President of his class, served as President of the American Student Dental Association, Student Senate, Deans Progress and Review committee, received a research grant, and was awarded membership to Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honor society. He practiced as a general dentist for four years but aspired to master restorative dentistry. He returned to UMKC School of Dentistry for a multi-year post-doctoral residency in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics where he completed advanced training in cosmetic, implant, and complex, comprehensive restorative dental reconstruction.
He lectures extensively on dental prosthodontics to numerous dental organizations and dental study clubs. He was the founder of the Dr. Bruce Cummings Dental Study Club, a local chapter of Spear Education, which is regarded internationally as one of the most advanced continuing education study groups for dental professionals.
Dr. Cummings was selected by worlds largest dental implant manufacturer, The Straumann Group, as one of 24 prosthodontists in the world to serve on their Expert Team for the design of their new BLX implant. Also, Kansas City Magazine has listed Dr. Cummings as one of the Top Dentists in Kansas City, as selected by his peers, for many consecutive years.
Dr. Cummings has been the President and served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Kansas City Dental Society, a Delegate to the Missouri Dental Association, the President of the Clay-Platte Dental Society, served on the Rinehart Foundation and the Pouring From the Heart committee at the UMKC Dental School. He has served as the Alumni Representative on the UMKC Dental School Admissions Committee.
His memberships include the American College of Prosthodontics, American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, Greater Kansas City Dental Society, and numerous dental study clubs. Previous affiliations include the International Team for Implant Dentistry, Spear Education, the Academy of Osseointegration, the Pankey Institute, and the Dawson Academy.
Dr. Cummings serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the HNC Living Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping head and neck cancer patients live life fully. He also volunteers with the Missouri Mission of Mercy dental clinic that provides free oral healthcare to patients of all ages who cannot otherwise afford or access care.
