Dr. William W. Brown, Jr. Graduated from Bob Jones University in 1984 and from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1987. Following dental school, he completed a two-year general practice residency at Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Dr. Browns residency allowed him to gain additional medical training not included in the regular dental school curriculum.

After his residency, Dr. Brown opened Brown Family Dentistry Group in Greenville in August of 1989. In the beginning, the practice consisted of Dr. Brown and his wife Ronda. Today, Ronda is in a supportive role out of the office, keeping their home running smoothly and taking care of their two children, Davy and Mary Katherine.

Dr. Browns practice philosophy is based on how people want to be treated as a patient. He believes that it is our job as dental professionals to tell you what we see and how we would fix the problem if it happened to us or our family members. Our patients have full control over every aspect of their dental care. We only recommend treatments that your truly need, and you decide if you want that treatment, how much you want, and how fast you want to proceed.

One of the biggest meetings is in Atlanta, which is convenient for us in the Greenville area, every March, so we try to go down every year with the staff too. Its good for them to get out and see, hear other people, hear some new things from speakers, a good learning experience and if nothing else, its a good camaraderie for them, getting away, plus they enjoy going out to eat on my tab, they always enjoy that. So we try to spend a lot of time with keeping up on things. All the times getting journals, some of more beneficial than others, but things change so much. Most of the dental materials that we used in dental school, we dont use anymore. Its completely different, so youve got to keep up with it. Technology and everything changes, some are good changes, some are bad, and you kind of pick and choose what works for you to take care of the patients. Continuing education is continuous, its ongoing, you cant just stop or youre like the dinosaur in town that did it the same way and then finally retired I guess.

For those that are Southerners, native to Greenville, Im a Yankee that moved down here quite a few years ago, which my son reminds me of since hes a southerner through and through. I grew up in Ohio for my Michigan patients, I am a Buckeye fan, dont hold that against me. We discuss that periodically in the office. Came down here from Ohio for school, went to Bob Jones for undergraduate, and then part way through college my parents moved down so weve been in the area ever since. After college, I went to dental school in West Virginia, got into several schools, one of the influences of West Virginia was my fiance had a teaching job within thirty minutes of the school, so that was a convenience her having a job already. Four years of dental school, finished up in 87, its pretty bad Im counting things in decades now instead of years since I graduated. Following dental school, I spent two years in a hospital based general practice residency at Bowman Gray up in Winston, Salem, North Carolina. I got a lot of good hospital based experience, dealing with sick patients. In dental school, they try to give you healthy patients so you dont kill someone in the clinic. I saw a lot of sick patients that way a lot of good experience. And then after that, August of 89 is when we opened the office here in Greenville.

We always welcome questions, comments, and suggestions from our patients. If you would like to send an email to Dr. Brown directly, please use our online form. This form is for non-urgent questions and concerns only. If you have a dental emergency, please dial 911 or call (864) 322-5051.

Welcome to our dental family! Brown Family Dentistry Group has been proudly serving Greenville, Anderson, Mauldin, Spartanburg, Simpsonville, Greer and nearby cities and towns in South Carolina for 30 years now. Our practice is led by Dr. William Brown, a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. Patients rely on Dr. Brown and the rest of our dental team for modern, comfortable treatments and the best care.

Our staff members have been with the practice for years and theyve come to know our patients very well. To our entire team, patients are like members of our own families. We genuinely care about them and we want them to remain in the best dental health.

Its been interesting over the years when weve looked for staff members here in the office, the team that weve got. When we opened the office 30 years ago, it was my wife and I. She took care of the front desk, and I did everything in back. She occasionally got to come back and got the pleasure of doing suction for me. It wasnt the highlight of her day but she did a little bit of everything.

Our first employee was LuAnn, and shes still with us today. I think shes planning that were both just going to retire together down the road. But it seems like every time weve needed someone, the Lord just kind of drops them into our lap, really. Weve had a good group of staff members, good group of team members. In general folks work together well. The more people you put together, the more chance there is of someone having a bad what happened to Tom, or what the kids have done those kind of things. There are times when were not always working together as smoothly as wed like, probably most of the time its my fault. But weve got a good group. The hygienist that weve got, patients like. And sometimes patients will prefer one hygienist over another and theyve got some choices.

For me, the first thing to find out when I walk into a dental office, dentistry is a totally different feel from a lot of businesses, and for me the main thing to find out is how long the doctor has been working and how long the employees have been around him.

If the doctor has been practicing for 1520 years, and all the people are fairly new, thats a big flag for me. So when I came here, and he introduced me, this is my first employee, and this is my second, its been 1518 years, I said thats interesting. If he knows how to keep employees, he knows how to keep patients.

Tamara is an administrative assistant. She graduated in 2001 from Bob Jones University with a B.S. in Organizational Communications. She joined our staff in 2013. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, singing with the Greenville Chorale, and running.

Dr. Brown really likes to joke with the patients, which helps them be more comfortable, which is a problem for many people obviously, coming into the dental office. People just consider him funny, someone said just last week that he doesnt think he could find a funnier dentist in Greenville. He likes to joke around. He just actually, yesterday, walked someone to the door, she had left something and he followed her out to the door. Hes just very comfortable and treats them with respect and like family, theyre all very comfortable with him.

I have a lot of friends that come to Brown Family Dentistry Group, and he really makes people comfortable, hes very gentle and hes very conservative with treatments so they know when he recommends something be done, it really needs to be done.

The staff is very friendly and interested in the patients, and takes the time to get to know each patient, remember their name, remember their childrens name, so it makes for a good working environment.

I think that Brown Family Dentistry Group is different because of that personal touch, that we find theyre not just interested in getting as many patients in and out as they can in a day, they take the time to give the patients the time that they need, and they listen to what the patients are saying about the problems theyre having or the issues that they feel are important where their teeth are concerned.

I see patients usually for their cleaning check ups, theyll see one of our hygienists, and were going to take their dental xrays, do their oral cancer screening, overall tissue assessment and their cleanings.

I feel that its very laid back but I think that has a lot to do with Dr. Browns personality, because hes kind of a laid back guy and it kind of carries on over to the rest of the staff and the patients feel very laid back here as well.

Very good with all of his patients, he really cares about everyone, takes the time and tries to make everyone feel at home. He always gives his patients all of his attention and the best treatment that he can.

First of all, theyre going to get the best care no matter which hygienist they see, and that Dr. Brown is really conservative with his treatment, meaning he is not just going to jump in and do anything unnecessary, anything he recommends is really whats best for the patient. He has their best needs in mind and not his own.

Lou Ann is a dental hygienist and also our first employee here in the office, starting in 1991. She graduated from Greenville Tech in 1991. She has two grown sons. Lou Ann enjoys gardening, knitting, scrapbooking and stamping.

I think he interacts with the patients really well, he listens to their needs, he tries to tell them what they need and take care of what dental needs they have. Hes compassionate towards them, he is willing to meet them here if theres an emergency on a Friday or a weekend, hes willing to come in and meet them and take care of that.

I think Dr. Brown is a good boss, hes easy to work for. I like the environment, I like the patients, they are family now. Ive seen their children, and Im seeing their grandchildren now, Im seeing the third generation and its close to home. Im comfortable, and I like the environment.

Judy is a dental hygienist and a 1987 graduate of Greenville Tech. She is married to the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Simpsonville and has three children Nicole and Kristen, who attend Bob Jones University, and Samuel, who attends Bob Jones Academy. She has a Christian greeting card business and enjoys reading and writing about the Lord.

Dr. Brown is the most caring dentist that I have ever worked for. I have worked for several and he really treats you like one of his family. It really makes a difference to our patients I believe, to have someone who really, genuinely cares about what is best for them. Hes a Christian, he loves the Lord and that makes a big difference to our patients, as well as to the staff.

We have a great time here. We love our patients, its important to us that they feel comfortable, that they know that we really care about them, and that they leave here feeling like they have had someone in their family treating them.

Teresa is a dental hygienist. She graduated from Greenville Tech in 1981 and joined our office in 1999. Teresa and her husband Randy have one daughter, Meghan, who is a social worker. Teresa enjoys many different types of crafts.

Weve always had a great team here, even if weve lost a couple of team members, whoever comes in always seems to become part of the team immediately. Dr. Brown is just the easiest person Ive ever worked for. Being in this field for thirty years, I have worked for several dentists, but I tell him he cant retire until I retire. Hes just good.

He keeps them relaxed, he really does. Weve never seen patients that, if they come in nervous, they dont leave that way. He does have a way of putting them at ease. Theyre usually pleased with the work theyve had done, and I think thats why weve kept so many patients for so many years. This is the place to come. They want a place to come to that theyre going to be comfortable, get to know the staff, feel like theyre part of our dental family, then this is the place to come to.

Brown Family Dentistry has been my friend for over two decades. Advice and treatment Dr. Brown gave me in the early 2000s has stood the test of time. At age 70, I still have ALL my teeth!

Excellent experience with Jessica. She understood my insurance changes and helped me know how to set up another appointment for this year (that I did realize). As well as excellent teeth cleaning skill and helping me with the topical fluoride treatments that are the best. Dr. Brown was wise as usual (and of course a humorous wise-guy). The receptionist and check out lady were top knock too! The building is clean & a place pleasant to be! Thank you. The beverages were over the top- so to save $ for you I didn't take one.

Kind, friendly and professional! Along with our family's regular cleanings and dental work, our daughter also went through their Invisalign process and we are thoroughly pleased with the results! We highly recommend this practice!

My recent visit was for a routine cleaning. My hygienist did an excellent job putting me at ease and worked in my mouth gently while Tom and Jerry played on the TV above the chair. The warmed towelette provided at the end to wash up was scented with lavender. Everyone was both friendly and efficient, so I was able to get in and back out to work quickly.

This place is amazing! I had not been to the dentist in a very long time and everyone at the Brown Family Group made me feel so at ease throughout my visit. They were so intentional in every part of the process of becoming a new patient, from reaching out prior to my visit, greeting me warmly at the door, and talking me through every part of the cleaning and exam. I felt so at peace there and honestly enjoyed the hour I spent there for my visit. The office is beautiful and comfortable. Teresa, my hygienist, was so sweet and Dr. Bowers made me feel very welcomed and reassured. So glad I found this office!

Been a patient of brown family dentistry for 20 years or more, and plan to continue with them. Very satisfied with their service especially that I see the same dental hygienist Jessica each time. Love the continuity of care.
