Dr. T. Michael Brooks, DMD, MS, was raised in Nashville, TN, graduating from Montgomery Bell Academy before attending and graduating from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA, with a Bachelors degree in European History. While in college, Dr. Brooks was elected President of his Senior Class, played NCAA intercollegiate baseball, and was selected for Whos Who in American Universities and Colleges. In addition, he was the Director of the Department of Country Music for the university radio station.
Dr. Brooks moved to Birmingham, AL to attend the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. During his four years of dental school, Dr. Brooks was elected Student Body President and was involved in several activities such as volunteer research work in the Biochemistry Department at UAB and the Special Smiles program for the physically-challenged.
After receiving his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2001, Dr. Brooks decided to specialize in the field of orthodontics. He pursued a three-year post-doctoral masters degree in Orthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While in his residency, Dr. Brooks focused his masters thesis on the accuracy and acceptability of digital dental models versus plaster dental casts. His thesis was selected for publication in The Angle Orthodontist. During his third year of residency, he took and passed the written exam for American Board of Orthodontics certification. In June, 2004, Dr. Brooks completed his residency in Orthodontics.
Dr. Brooks resides in Birmingham, AL and is married to the former Leslie Denton of Birmingham, AL. They have four sons, Wyatt, Carter, Miller, and Denton. They are active members of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Dr. Brooks interests include coaching youth athletics, golf, hunting, fishing, college football, and music.

I highly recommend Dr. Brooks for your orthodontic needs. He is great with kids, extremely kind, and genuinely cares about his patients. His staff is always kind and helpful. I can't imagine taking my kids to anyone else!

I was reluctant to get braces as an adult, but meeting with Dr. Brooks made the decision easy. His expertise and friendly staff made the treatment as easy as it could possibly be. If you need orthodontic work, look no further.

Dr.Brooks is the best. We went him after visiting several other orthodontists. He was not quick to put braces on my daughters. They both needed some dental work before the braces. He was very patient with us and took his time. Both my daughters are now out of braces . Very pleased with the transformation. Thank Dr. Brooks for your great work.

From the moment that we discovered that my daughter may need braces in the coming years, I immediately began praying that wouldn't be so...fast forward a couple years, we come to realize that braces would indeed be the best option for correcting her dental alignment. While my prayer request may appear to have gone unanswered, Dr. Brooks and his team have proven to be a Godsend to our family!! From the very first consultation appointment up until her braces were removed, the entire staff has been consistently welcoming, comforting, efficient and thorough throughout each interaction and visit. (While also offering an affordable plan to meet our financial situation). To assure the comfort of my daughter, I was allowed to accompany her. (However, after the first couple visits, she no longer needed that and she would go back without me). But whether I accompanied her or waited, Dr. Brooks always made a point to speak with me to explain what each visit entailed and to go over any new relevant information and the progress being made along the way. As if all of this weren't enough--during a season of ill-health of my own, they worked with me and compromised beyond what's expected in order to provide the care that was vital to assure the overall oral health of my daughter. Obviously, my daughter was feeling anxious about what results would be revealed when the time came to remove her braces, and to no surprise, Dr. Brooks once more, went over and beyond what was required of him, to provide a few extra touches that allowed her to walk out with confidence and pride in her new beautiful and perfect smile!!! And, as any parent would, I also walked out with pasted on smile for her!! (Although not so perfect) I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Brooks and his staff for anyone searching and hoping to find a friendly, inviting, and affordable ortho experience with outstanding results!!!

My daughter Kyah has been a patient of Dr.Brooks since May 2019 and she just got her braces off yesterday. (Her teeth look amazing...I'll get a before and after to post on here soon). Dr.Brooks is one of a kind and his staff is as well! When you first start seeing a dentist or doctor you just pray they'll (staff too) care and hear your concerns, so that's what I mean in "one of a kind". Every visit we have went to is quick and everyone has always been so friendly! If you need an orthodontist who does amazing work, takes the time to explain everything, has a friendly staff, and truly cares then Dr.Brooks is your man!!
