Dr. Bufo graduated from Brown University in 1983 and received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. From 1987-1990 he served as a captain in the United States Air Force, providing dental care for retired and active duty service members and their families.

Between 1990 and 2003, Dr. Bufo created two successful dental practices in West Newfield and Springvale, ME that offered the latest in dental technologies, including digital radiography and lasers, esthetic restorative dentistry and non-surgical periodontal therapy. In 2004, he opened Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry & TMJ in Scarborough, ME, focusing on cosmetic dentistry, TMJ, neuromuscular dentistry, and complex occlusal and restorative procedures. In 2012 he merged his Scarborough practice into the current Brighton Dental Associates location in Portland and in 2015 became the owner of Windham Dental Associates in Windham Maine. He is an Invisalign Preferred Provider and focuses his practice on cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry, TMJ and difficult bite problems.

Dr. Bufo averages almost 100 hours of continuing education per year and was chosen to be a clinical instructor at the renowned Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). He travels to the Institute several times each year to teach dentists from across the globe about the most advanced cosmetic dentistry procedures and therapy for TMJ disorders. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Maine Dental Association, the International Association of Physiologic Aesthetics, and the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics.

Dr. Alex Kerbaugh grew up just outside of Burlington, Vermont and received his bachelor's degree in biology from McGill University in 2013. He then completed his doctorate of dental medicine at the University of New England in the spring of 2017.

Dr. Kerbaugh enjoys meeting new people and following a patient-centered approach to dentistry. His lighthearted demeanor makes him very approachable and allows patients to feel comfortable discussing all aspects of their unique dental needs. He believes in contributing to a positive, relaxed environment for both patients and colleagues.

Outside of work, Dr. Kerbaugh is an avid sailor and races weekly on Casco Bay during the summer months. His car is often packed with sporting equipment such as golf clubs, tennis rackets, skis, Frisbees, and more. He has also been playing guitar and learning French since he was in middle school.

Dr. Clif Hodges graduated from University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2008. He is a member AGD, ADA, MDA and pursuing AGD fellowship. Dr Hodges is the past president of Merrymeeting Bay Dental Society and Lewis County Dental Society. He is also a participant in Northwest Precedent Research Network and the National Health Service Corps assisting in the health care needs of under-served communities.

Carlen is our Practice Director. Carlen grew up in the dental field, tagging along with her parents to dental offices and dental conferences since she was a child. She began working as a part-time assistant for her father, Dr. Michael Bufo, in high school. In college, Carlen pursued her love for animals and studied veterinary science. She competed on the Mount Ida College Equestrian Team and traveled to Montana to work with horses. Carlen graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science. She was a member of the Alpha Chi National Honors Society, representing the top 10% of her class. After college, she began her career in veterinary medicine, then was quickly recruited by Dr. Bufo to join the family business!

Carlen has attended courses at LVI (Las Vegas Institute in Nevada) and is a member of AADOM (American Association of Dental Office Management) and the Southern Maine AADOM Chapter. Carlen enjoys learning new things and is on an 'endless journey' to improve and evolve her father 's practices. Her favorite part of her position is creating a positive impact in the lives of her team. When she is not working, you can find Carlen somewhere with her family, probably outdoors! She has a big love for the state of Maine and enjoys spending her free time either in the water or on a hike. Carlen lives by Little Sebago Lake in Windham with her husband and son, Golden Retriever Sam, and cat Ares.

Garrin is our master dental lab technician at Brighton Dental Associates. 'I feel lucky to be a part of a practice that utilizes modern technology and materials so that we can provide our patient 's with the highest quality care and treatment'. Our patient 's hope Garrin will follow in his father 's footsteps (Dr. Michael Bufo) in the dental world, but many don 't know that Garrin is also very talented in writing. Several pieces of Garrin 's work have already been published.

Garrin's interests include literature, blacksmithing, and knife-making. He spends his weekends doing home improvements on his house in Windham, riding his motorcycle, and spending time on Sebago Lake.

Erica is one of our three full-time dental hygienists. She graduated from the University of New England with a Bachelor's of Science in 2002. We feel very fortunate to have Erica bring her many years of experience to our practice. Erica enjoys educating her patients about oral health and feels a sense of accomplishment when her patients see the results of their efforts.

When Erica isn 't with her 'dental family' she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons boating and beaching on Sebago Lake. She also enjoys watching her oldest son at his sporting events and looks forward to the days when her youngest is out of diapers.

Kelli has been a Dental Assistant for over 16 years. She enjoys working with people and helping them to feel comfortable when they visit our office. Kelli grew up in Lewiston and now lives 'Off the Grid' in Hartford! When Kelli is not working she is busy taking care of her 3 dogs and 2 cats.

Of her many interests and hobbies Kelli loves 'anything artistic' including drawing and painting. She is very proud of her children Kirsten and Parker. Kelli 's upbeat personality welcomes all who visit Brighton Dental Associates.

Donna graduated from the University of Maine Dental Hygiene program in 1979. She has always had a love of learning and spends many hours each year in continuing education, recently acquiring her Local Anesthesia license to better serve her patients. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from these 40 years in the dental field. Her passion is to help each person be successful at achieving their oral health goals, including healthy teeth and gums as well as a balance between the head and neck muscles, jaw joints and the bite. This balance will ensure a life long benefit of optimal oral health so people can not only keep their teeth for a life-time but also be proud of their smile.

Donna also enjoys family time with her husband of 40 years and their three sons and 4 grandchildren. It brings her much joy to watch the grandchildren develop a love for lake living as they visit their home in Standish. Donna and her husband are also passionate about ministering to married couples through their church. Caring for people comes naturally to Donna so she fits in nicely with the dental family at Brighton Dental Associates.

Lindseylee is originally from Missouri and went to Meramec College. She has always been interested in a career in dentistry, in fact she has great childhood memories of going to the dentist as the 'highlight' of her year. She brings this enthusiasm with her to work every day! Lindseylee enjoys learning all the different aspects of the dental office and working with people. She joined the team at Brighton Dental Associates in 2019 as a Dental Assistant.

When not working Lindseylee loves to travel, watching hockey, line dancing and four wheeling. She is also and animal lover! She has two fur babies, Whiskey and Trout. She thinks her dogs are 'The Cutest Men in the World.'

Katie joined our team as an Office Administrator in 2019! Patients are greeted by her warm smile and calming energy as they enter the office. Katie has been in the dental field for almost 16 years and enjoys everything about it. Katie moved to Maine from Arizona in 2019 with her husband, Ryan, and 2 daughters, Tatum and Justice. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, swimming, playing tennis, watching movies and spending time with her kids.

Nicole joined our team in 2021 as an Office Administrator. She has a passion for helping others, especially when assisting patients with their dental needs. She was raised in Virginia where she graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelors's degree in Health Science. Following graduation, Nicole began her dental career working in oral surgery where she gained experience working with dental insurances and coordinating dental care. In 2020, she moved to Maine with her partner, Ramon, who is currently attending dental school at the University of New England.
