In order for our doctors to provide the most advanced care possible, they're consistently continuing their education through peer study groups, attending conferences and lectures, and studying new findings and updated procedures in dentistry.
Dr. Jay S. Boyd was born in Fairmont, WV and raised in Wellsburg, WV where he graduated from Brooke High School in 1992. He earned a bachelor of Science in Physical Education and an Associates Degree in Physical Therapy from Fairmont State University in 1997. He attended West Virginia University School of Dentistry where he earned a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2005.
Dr. Boyd practiced for 3 years in Harper's Ferry, WV prior to buying Briarwood Dental Center in 2009. Dr. Boyd is an active member of the American Dental Association, the West Virginia Dental Association, and the Eastern Panhandle Dental Society where he serves as Treasurer and is the EPDS representative to the WVDA Executive Council.
Dr. Boyd enjoys spending time with his wife Heidi to whom he has been married since 2001, their two children, Jacob and Lena, and their dog, Baxter! His hobbies include cheering for his children as Jacob plays soccer and Lena competitively cheers. He also enjoys hunting, kayaking, cooking, WVU sports, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and fantasy football!
Dr. Boyd strives to learn the latest advances in Dentistry by attending conferences, continuing education courses, and reading professional journals. He attributes his interest in the field of Dentistry to Pamela Boyd, his mother who worked in the field as an assistant and Colonel William Krantz, his father-in-law who is a retired US Army Dentist. Dr. Boyd was voted Best Dentist by The Herald Mail in 2020.
Dr. Charles Gregory Stephen-Hassard was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii. He attended Oregon State University and received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry in 1996. A proud graduate of West Virginia University School of Dentistry, receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2005. Dr. Stephen-Hassard joined the US Navy during dental school and continued his education in the military. He completed his Masters of Science Degree from George Washington University and a 2-year residency in Comprehensive Dentistry with the US Navy in 2007. He served in the US Navy for 6 years before joining the Briarwood Dental Center team in 2009, becoming Dr. Boyd's partner the following year.Dr. Stephen-Hassard joined the West Virginia Air National Guard in 2017 as their chief of dental services.
Dr. Stephen-Hassard is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the West Virginia Dental Association, the Eastern Panhandle Dental Society, SPEAR Education Study Club in Winchester, VA, and the West Virginia Air National Guard.
Dr. Patrick Noland was born and raised in Middleway, WV. He attended Shepherd University and earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2009. He went on to attend West Virginia University's School of Dentistry and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in May of 2015. He joined the Briarwood Dental Center team in June of 2015. Dr. Noland is currently serving as a Major in the West Virginia Air National Guard.
Dr. Noland is an active member of the American Dental Association, the West Virginia Dental Association, the Eastern Panhandle Dental Society, and the SPEAR Education Study Club with several local dental professionals.
At Briarwood Dental Center, our Hygiene Philosophy is to provide personalized, quality care. We understand that every patient's needs are different. Our highly skilled dental hygienists will complete an oral health assessment to develop a personalized treatment plan to optimize your oral health. All of our hygienists have graduated from accredited dental hygiene programs and are Registered Dental Hygienists through the West Virginia Board of Dentistry.
Danielle, our office manager, joined the Briarwood Dental team in October of 2020. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Shepherd University. Danielle oversees the daily operations of the office, ensuring that all patients are well taken care of by our team members. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, family, and friends, camping, traveling, and helping her parents at Middleway Farm!
Kelly, our financial coordinator, joined the Briarwood Dental team in 2019. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland. As our financial coordinator, she is happy to help with financing options and answer billing questions. She also reviews and explains treatment plans with our patients to help better understand procedures and their cost. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys photography, traveling, and spending time with her family and their rescue dog Rex!
Bri, our scheduling coordinator, joined the Briarwood Dental team in May of 2021. Bri is the face of many patient interactions here at Briarwood. She's kept busy with scheduling new patients and communicating daily with current patients through our website, email, and texting service. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and looking through Pinterest for new recipes, doing makeup, and spending quality time with her family, friends, and 4 animals (Rambo, Roxy, Remi, and Nigel)!

Briarwood is the best! I have only started going there recently and to say the least, I've needed some extensive work done for years now. I was super nervous about going to a dentist and put it off for a long time. Thank God I chose briarwood. They are the nicest staff and extremely professional. The made me feel so good and helped me in my process more than I could of imagined. You cannot go wrong with this wonderful office. Thank you everyone.

Dr.Nolan and his team are amazballz!! They turned a insecure smile into one that doesn't mind showing off..can't thank them enough. Very clean and professional setting. And they even sing to you which doesn't sound half bad..so happy I found this place!! Thanks guys your truly amazing!!!

Honestly the best dental center I've ever been to in my life. I've got a list of reasons: The lady at the check out, Kelly, is the absolute sweetest and does her best to make sure everyone leaves happy and that their bills are handled in the way best for them. The dentist, Dr. Patrick Noland, for his part has been extraordinarily accommodating. He lets you know when there's things you need to work on in a way that doesn't make you feel bad, and gives praise as he sees improvement. He communicates clearly and effectively, and he's a pretty fun guy to listen to while he works. His assistant we've asked to be there for every procedure we've had, Kathleen, is one of the funniest and sweetest folks I've seen in any medical setting in my whole life. Between her and Dr. Noland, they've undone years and years of dental trauma my partner has had, being autistic and struggling with their teeth, and has made them feel significantly better about their mouth and more comfortable asking for help. I haven't had a regular dentist in years, but they're fixing me up right, and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Briarwood Dental was simply amazing! This was my first visit and every aspect of my visit was phenomenal. From the receptionist to the dental hygienist and finally the doctor. I had to bring my daughters with me and the office staff was so understanding and patient with all their many questions and activeness. They were very considerate and understanding of my schedule while looking for follow up appointments. My insurance benefits were thoroughly explained as well. I was truly impressed with how professional, accommodating, and amazing they were!

Best dentist office in Berkeley county area. Dr. Boyd is great along with the rest of the staff from the secretaries up front to the hygienists and so forth. I received a deep cleaning from them along with a set of crowns and they did a wonderful job. Furthermore, they take TRICARE which is great! Awesome place and highly recommend. 10/10!

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!! From the front desk to the dental chair they are superb! Everyone is extremely kind and patient. My daughter (7yrs old) loves everyone here. She's so excite to go to the dentist (wow). Her favorite person there is Kathleen, they are best friends. If you dislike going to the dentist like most of us, God has made a way to put your mind at ease : )

I have always hated going to the dentist, yet after having a tooth emergency, I was taken care of by Dr. Noland, who was amazing! he also repaired a front tooth that turned out amazing! I highly recommend this office and especially Dr. Noland. I have sent several friends to this practice as well.
