I grew up in a dental family; my father was an Endodontist and my mother a dental hygienist. Together, they owned and ran a dental practice in Redondo Beach, California. When I was five, my father went back to school to specialize in Endodontics: tooth-saving root canal therapy. When we returned to the Detroit area, most of my family and their friends were in the dental community, so to a large extent I was destined to continue in this tradition and vocation.
With my fathers influence and family values, I strive to treat all my patients not only as I would expect to be treated but also as I would treat family or friends. I love the work I do and take pride in the work Ive performed as well as the relationships Ive developed over the years. Its an honor and privilege coming to work each day, knowing most of my patients and considering them friends.
Ive always been driven. Since I was a child, Ive pushed myself to be the bestwhether it was in sports or my education. After graduation, I knew I wanted to further my education in the realm of implant dentistry. This led to my desire for more knowledge in the study of the bitehow the teeth come together. From there, I naturally progressed into the further study of cosmetics. After obtaining each new skill or discipline, I could see another area I should work on.
Now, with more than 20 years of dental experience and intensive ongoing training with the masters of dentistry, I can honestly say Ive attained a masters level as well. Achieving this level of expertise means Im able to provide my patients with the full-range of dental care available today.
Right now, Im truly excited about the new possibilities we have with CT-scan guided implant dentistry. The opportunities are boundless. Im also very pleased with how comfortable Im able to make patients with IV sedation dentistry. It amazes me how much more relaxed patients are afterwards, having none of the stress or anxiety they would have had without IV sedation.
I also understand that no one relishes the thought of sitting in a dental chair. So, when Im developing a treatment plan, I focus on delivering a long term solution, not merely a quick fix. I feel the same way my patients doI dont want my dentist working on the same tooth again next year. The type of care we offer means less time spent in the dental chair and more efficient procedures.

Dentist Dr. Klym became interested in the field of dentistry because of his father, a root canal specialist (endodontist). He remains passionate about the field of dentistry, and continues to enjoy providing his patients the highest level of dentistry possible. He was named one of Americas Best Dentists of 2014.
Chief Financial Officer Lori comes to Northwood Dental with 20 plus years of business accounting experience. She is our Chief Financial Officer as well as the Practice Coordinator. More importantly, she is married to Dr. Klym. They share three beautiful children, Erin, Raye & Patrick. Lori and Brian enjoy spending time at the beach and traveling.
Office Manager Kathy has extensive experience in customer service and sales. She and her husband Kris have been married for over 35 years and have two grown children. Ashley is a school teacher in Hawaii and Adam is a structural engineer in Texas. Kathy spends most of her spare time outdoors gardening in the summer and skiing during the winter months.
Tashina has been in the Dental field for the last 22 years. Herand herhusband Eric have 3 amazing kids. Theiroldest son is currently studying Robotic Engineering at Michigan Technological University. Their daughter will attend Kalamazoo College this fall and will also befurthering her Volleyball career there. Their youngest son is going into the 8th grade andkeeps them on our toes daily. When they are not at the BMX track or attending Volleyball competitions, they are enjoying the Upper Peninsula, and time with family and their fur babies!!!
Dental Hygienist Amanda is a native of Traverse City. She has over 20 years of dental experience and has won the Red Hot Best award in the category of Dental Hygienist. She is an avid outdoor enthusiast. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking and hiking with her 2 children and 2 labrador retrievers.
Dental Assistant Aubrey started her dental career 6 years ago as a Dental Technician. She grew up on the East side of Michigan, in the small town of Lincoln and moved to the West side in 2010. She loves to travel and spends most of her time outside camping, hiking with her dogs, or fishing from her kayak.
Dental Assistant Dion is starting her career in the dental field as an Dental Assistant while attending Lansing Community College for her degree in Dental Hygiene. In her free time, she enjoys longboarding, swimming, working out, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to working as our hygienist, Kari also dental assists and is very knowledgeable with the administrative side of dentistry. She and her husband Tim had their first child, Cassius, in the summer of 2018. Kari loves spending time with her family most, but she and Tim also spend time traveling and ice climbing frozen waterfalls in the winter months.
Nicki has been in the dental field for approximately 10 years. She has 2 daughters that keep her extremely busy. Nicki especially enjoys our Northern Michigan summers She likes to swim and enjoy the beach.
Teigan is a college student that has worked in the dental field for almost 3 years. She is working to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. Teigan has lived in Northern Michigan her whole life but loves to travel. She also enjoys yoga and beaches.

The care they show for their patient's health is reprehensible. We are currently in a covid level red where the CDC is recommending anyone inside should be wearing a mask. One of our local high schools just reported an official outbreak. If you go to Munson healthcare facility everyone is wearing a mask. When I walked into the dentist the two girls at the front desk, one who I assumed was a hygienist, neither were wearing a mask. When asked I was told it was their choice. I was told "masks don't work" by my hygienist. When I disbelievingly said, "as a medical professional you know that's not true, right?", She looked right at me and said, "only kn95s can even prevent transmission and the mask I'm wearing isn't one." When I told them I would be leaving they then said they would put a mask on. I said it was too late. We've used them for about 15 years, with various issues in the past, we will be finding a new dentist, this straw broke the camel's back.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Klym and his staff. I always have a wonderful experience and the care I receive is consistently caring and high quality. My husband and I are so glad he is our dentist!

I have set up multiple appointments with them to get my teeth cleaned/fixed which they continually canceled due to "insurance lapse" despite maintaining the same insurance for 5 years now, then would not tell me they canceled until I got there...this has happend three times, now the teeth that would have been small cavities to fill are infected teeth that are going to need to be taken out after taking a weeks worth of antibiotics... super disappointing.

I love Dr. Klym's office! They send me text messages to remind me of my appointments, the office is always clean, I get free goodie bags, and while all of those things are pretty standard at other Dentists that I have been to in the past, the best part about the Northwood Dental experience is the people. I have never enjoyed going to the dentist (who likes getting your teeth scraped?), but I had fun last time I went. Chelsea had me cracking up, Dr. Klym seems like a really cool guy, and the front desk person was very nice also. They offer a great deal for people without dental coverage too! Only $240 for the year and that covers all preventative dental treatments.

I had a great visit to Dr. Klym's office for my dental cleaning. My dental hygienist who was new to the practice was first rate. She was friendly, professional, and did an awesome job cleaning my teeth. Dr. Klym always stops by to check my teeth after my cleaning. This is a top rated dental practice in my opinion.

I've been going to Northwood Dental for years and would highly recommend Dr.Klym. He goes above and beyond for his patients. He is the ultimate professional. I also really enjoy his staff, Chelsea in particular. She is a very friendly and thorough hygentist. Kathy has also been very helpful with all of my billing and insurance questions. I highly recommend Dr.Klym and all of his staff.

This was my dental office for about 7 years. At my last visit, I found out at my appointment that they had replaced my absolutely fantastic, long time dental hygienist, Kedna. The new hygienist they hired named Kathy was horrific. She was simply awful in every way. She was so hard on my teeth that I was in pain for at least two days after a cleaning appointment. I asked her several times to stop what she was doing and she wouldn't let up. I was in so much discomfort and pain during the cleaning, which I think is just ridiculous. I never felt this way with Kedna, EVER. Kathy should have listened to me and my needs during my visit, but she didn't care at all about how she was hurting me or making me feel upset and extremely uncomfortable. Due to this absolutely terrible service from Kathy, I will never be returning to Dr. Klym's office.
