Brian D Freidell PC - General dentist in Austin, TX

Her true gratification comes from the relationships she's formed with our patients and continues to cultivate through the years. Her hobbies and her passions are one in the same ... spending time with her handsome boys and her wonderful husband who she also calls, Boss!

She started working in the field of dentistry in 1985 and has enjoyed it ever since. Her gratification is helping patients understand their insurance questions and helping them to meet their expectations.

Following Melizas big move from El Paso 7 years ago, we were blessed to have her join the Freidell team. She feels the move is easier when you find an office that makes you feel like its your second home. Meliza not only loves dentistry, but she truly loves getting to know her patients.

During her spare time, she loves to spend it with her family and friends. With two teenagers and a border collie, named Caia, she and her husband are super busy but still love to find fun things to do around Austin (except Sundays during football season) Go Eagles!

Ever since she was a little girl, she has always had a love for dentistry. Her Mom is her great influence, having been in the dental field for over 20 years and counting. Logan thoroughly enjoys getting to know each and every one of her patients.

Having been born in Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Freidell became a Texan at the age of 13, when he and his family moved to Canyon, Texas. It was here where he graduated from high school and subsequently attended West Texas State University.

Earning his Bachelor of Science degree in 1981 with a double major in biology and chemistry, Dr. Freidell then completed, with honors, his dental degree from The University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston in 1985.

Dr. Freidell served as a Captain and a dentist in the United States Air Force from 1985 to 1988 receiving a Medal of Commendation in 1988. While in the Air Force, he married his sweetheart from school and they have two sons.

In 2011, he completed his training through The Dawson Academy, which is a world-famous continuing education facility emphasizing esthetic and functional principles as related to the complete masticatory system.

A: Oral Appliances are placed in the mouth and are worn during sleep to prevent the collapse of the tongue and soft tissues in the back of the throat so that the airway stays open during sleep. The appliances promote adequate air intake and help to provide normal sleep in people who snore and have sleep apnea.

A: Oral Appliance Therapy is indicated for mild to moderate OSA patients if they prefer it to CPAP, cannot tolerate CPAP, or are unable to use positional therapy or weight loss to control their apnea.

A: Reports have shown more than 70 percent of patients with mild sleep apnea getting relief from using these oral appliances. Moderate sleep apnea cases have recorded about 60 percent effectiveness when using these devices and 40 percent rate of effectiveness for those suffering from severe sleep apnea.

A: There are over 100 custom oral appliances approved by the FDA that all open the airway during sleep by either repositioning the lower jaw (mandible) or indirectly pulling the tongue forward. Dr. Feidell will recommend the appliance that best combats the causes of your apnea.

A: Oral appliance therapy for snoring and sleep apnea is not a cure. The dental device must be worn every night for it to be effective. Your progress with the oral appliance should be monitored over time to ensure that the appliance continues to do its job in providing relief of snoring and sleep apnea and to ensure that you remain symptom free.
