In addition to our implants, dentures, and cosmetic dentistry, our tooth restoration services include dental veneers and crowns. Each serves a slightly different purpose, and each serves to restore the look and functionality of your teeth. When treatment is complete, your teeth wont be the only things restored; your life will be, too.
Veneers are thin, custom-made facings to cover the front surface of your teeth. They are bonded to the tooth to fill in unwanted gaps and chips, and they can change the shape of the tooth for a more balanced smile. Dental veneers are made from porcelain or composite resin materials (tooth-colored filling). Porcelain veneers resist stains and wear better than resin composite veneers and better mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth while composite resin veneers are thinner and require removal of less or none of the tooth surface before placement.
Unlike veneers, which cover only the front surface of the tooth, crowns cover the entire tooth surface. On top of improving a tooths appearance, they also provide more protection for the tooth than veneers and are the often the best choice when there has been severe wear, bite problems, and extensive previous restorations.
To be clear, cosmetic dentistry is not an American Dental Association (ADA) recognized dental specialty. Many dentists claim to be specialists of 'cosmetic dentistry,' but they are not true specialists. Sure, they perform some cosmetic dentistry procedures in their offices--tooth whitening, bonding, veneers, crowns, bridges, and cosmetic gum surgery, to name a few.
Prosthodontics is the only dental specialty recognized by the American Dental Association that includes the practice of cosmetic restorative dentistry. Prosthodontists have three years of additional experience, skills, and training beyond dental school to perfect the art of restorative, cosmetic, and functional dentistry.
For long-lasting, healthy, and visible results, always consult a prosthodontist before undergoing a dental procedure that impacts your bite, smile, and comfort level. You only have one mouth and one smile, and NOVA Prosthodontics will ensure you make the most of it for as long as possible.
Dentures are custom-designed prosthetic devices that should take your every need into account. To do this, we take every step possible to account for your unique teeth, profile, movements, and bite patterns. We also take your goals into consideration. Whether you want to craft a bright new smile or dentures that look as authentic as you are. Or, in most cases, a bit of both.
Dr. Wilson, Dr. Mahler and Dr. Eskow believe in the lost art of denture design and fabrication, and they take the time to create prosthetic teeth that are customized to you. As recognized experts in denture aesthetics and function, we use our advanced skills, education, and experience to bring you the best possible outcome. Denture success is a team effort involving the prosthodontists, the dental laboratory technician (who is works on-site) and most importantly you, the patient. Living with removable dentures is a learned skill and we will do every thing we can to help you be successful with you new dentures.
NOVA Prosthodontics has an in-house lab for denture fabrication and repairs, which drastically minimizes the expense and wait time typically found with third-party labs. Where some offices can repair dentures in a few days or even weeks, we can make repairs within hours. We also have been known, when necessary, to fabricate a full set of dentures in only a few days. Life happens, and when it does, we will be here to help get you through those troubling times as quickly as possible with the best possible outcome.
Dental implants are metal posts or tooth root replacements that are surgically placed beneath the gums and secured to the jawbone. Dental implants help secure bridges, dentures and artificial teeth; since they are fused to your jaw, they wont slip and shift in your mouth while you eat, drink, talk and laugh.
Professor Per-Ingvar Branemark, who is credited with the discovery of today 's root form dental implant, said, no-one should die lying in the bed having their teeth in the glass,' referring to dentures. With the aid of dental implants no one should have to do so.
