Dr. Christensen has been treating Sleep Disorder Breathing since becoming an orthodontist in 1999. For children, being trained in bio-progressive orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, he has been able to treat breathing disorders through growth and development. It is a matter of knowing what is causing the airway obstruction. It could be due to a small nasal airway, enlarged tonsils and adenoids or a tongue that drops into the back of the throat. This can be caused by a deficiency of growth of the lower jaw or very narrow upper and lower jaws that cant accommodate the tongue. Treatment could consist of expansion of the upper and/or lower jaws. It can also include helping the lower jaw to grow forward, which in turn helps to pull the tongue out of the back of the throat.

Having the right tools is crucial in diagnosing and treatment planning for the patient. Dr. Christensen has invested in the most advanced CT scan (CBCT) machine in the industry and the Eccovision Pharyngometer and Rhinometer use sonar (sound waves) to map the area of the nasal airway and throat (oropharynx) to pinpoint the area of constriction or obstruction of the airway. These tools help determine with more accuracy the effects of maxillary expansion on the nasal airway and oral volume.

Advancing technologies in growth of infants to adult patients, by use of epigenetics, has made it possible to treat patients in a way never considered in the past. Many patients can now be treated non-surgically and without extractions. Treating the cause of the malocclusion (bad airway, tongue tie) rather than just looking at the teeth.

In the last 10 years, Dr. Christensens orthodontic practice has incorporated Sleep Medicine as a driving force in treating patients with a comprehensive health focused treatment rather than with traditional orthodontics.

I am what is called a functional, bio-progressive orthodontist. I love to be able to take children with skeletal deficiencies and help grow their jaws and correct them at the optimal time. I realize that most people are mainly concerned with straight teeth. As I look at it, the end result will fulfill that goal of straight teeth, but I get to help change the foundation of the bite. My results will be evident 40 years from now when my patients still have all their teeth and arent paying for extensive dental work because the bite was corrected as a child. For my adult patients, I am all about correct function. With the new techniques in orthodontics today, we are able to do so much more to correct a bad bite without surgery than in the past.

I attended Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating third in my class with aDoctorate of Dental Surgery in 1993. I completed my Advanced Education in General Dentistry through the US Army Dental Corp in Fort Carson, Colorado. There, I received specialized training in oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics, and orthodontics.

For two-and-a-half years, I served as a general dentist at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. During this time, I also served as the XO (Executive Officer) of the 464th Medical Company during Operation Joint Endeavor (Bosnia Conflict).

In 1997, I was accepted to an orthodontic residency at the University of Louisville, Kentucky where I not only received my Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics, but also received my Masters Degree in Oral Biology with my thesis, Treating Class III Malocclusions in Children with Expansion and Facemask Protraction. I graduated second in my class in 1999.

Upon graduation from my orthodontic residency, I continued my service in the US Army and served as Chief of Orthodontics at the Ft. Bragg Bravo Program. I taught orthodontics for two years while also maintaining a practice in orthodontics where surgical correction was the focus to support the oral surgery program at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

From 2001-Present, I have practiced in Lewiston, Grangeville, Orofino, and Moscow. In the last ten years, my orthodontic practice has incorporated sleep medicine as a driving force in treating patients with a more comprehensive health focused treatment rather than traditional orthodontics.

I attend30+ hours of continuing education every year, as do my team. We feel that we should be up to date on the latest technology and techniques in orthodontics and sleep medicine. We also use the best braces in the industry. There are definitely cheaper brackets out there, but I have always been more concerned with the quality of what we do more than using equipment and supplies that are inferior. We feel that our patients deserve to not only be treated the best by our team, but they also deserve to have the best in their mouth as they go through their orthodontic and sleep medicineexperience.

I have been married to my wife Eddieka since 1989. We have six children, two of whom have passed away, our baby daughter Jenna in 1993 and our son Hunter, who died in a four-wheeler accident in 2012. He was 13 years old. Losing these precious children has been a tremendous heartbreak for us. We do believe that our family is eternal and that we will one day be reunited with them again.

We have three daughters who are married to wonderful men. Currently, two of our daughters, IlaMarie Palmerand Julianne Hammon, are living in Lewiston with their spouses, Chase Palmer and Braeden Hammon. Our other daughter, Andriana McRae, and her husband Alex are living in Kuna, ID. Our other son Trevor keeps us young. He is 19years old and currently serving a two yearmission for our church in the Texas, San Antonio Mission. We also have eight grandchildren. We love being grandparents! We feel extremely blessed to have the family that we do and the opportunity to live in this beautiful valley.

Church is a big part of our lives. Eddieka and I serve as leaders in our church organization. We support many community organizations, including 4-H, Boys and Girls Club, AAU team sponsorships, VYSA and Valley Thunder Soccer teams, DECA, and FFA. I think it is important to give back and support the kids and the activities that help to develop productive people for the future.

Back in September, Bret aka Dr. Christensen and I took a trip to Canada, time away together and a business trip, all wrapped up in one. As we drove, we listened to an audio book titled, Tongue Tied. Sounds romantic, huh? While listening to this book, I kept thinking about the missing piece and kept wondering about the role I could play to help these mothers who want to breastfeed, are finding it difficult, and need support. I asked Bret if it would be helpful if I became certified as a breastfeeding counselor so that I could be that support for these mothers.

So let me back up just a bit. Bret is doing tongue and lip tie releases in his office. If you have been following our Christensen Orthodontics Facebook posts, you have learned that tongue ties are detrimental to the development of the jaws and airways, and we want to avoid this from happening. Breast milk is the super food for baby but it is also the best way to develop a healthy jaw. So it makes sense that the best time to have this surgery is when you are an infant but Bret is doing the surgery on older children and adults, as well. With these nursing mothers, we are discovering that they are so determined to breastfeed despite the pain and are not being heard. Many of them are told to give up, not realizing that it may very well be a simple procedure to allow them to breastfeed without pain. And then there are some moms that know its because of a tongue tie that they are not able to breastfeed but they cant find someone to help them...trying so hard to breastfeed without getting blisters, plugged milk ducts, etc. I have completed my course to become a CBC and am now a certified breastfeeding counselor. It has been so rewarding to hear back from these beautiful and determined mothers, who are now breastfeeding successfully, would not take no for an answer and continued to search for someone who would listen. At Christensen Orthodontics, we want to give you help and support if you and your baby have struggled to breastfeed. If you have come to the office for Dr. Christensen to do a frenectomy procedure on your infant and you would like help from me, this service is included with treatment.

Dr. Christensen and I were married in April 1989. We have six children and five grandchildren, and two more on the way. Our greatest blessings in life are the family we created and all of these beautiful grandchildren who we love. There is nothing better in our opinion. Parenting and grand-parenting is simply the best!

We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive orthodontic care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding orthodontic experience every time you visit our practice. We are pleased to welcome you and your family, and we look forward to working with you.

I enjoy interacting with our wonderful patients and their families on a daily basis. Getting to know new people and building relationships with them is one of the best parts of my job. Dr. Christensen and our team are so much fun, as well. We all get along so well and enjoy joking around with one another and getting the patients involved. There is so much laughter in our office!

I have a wonderful husband, Kyle, who I married in October 2011. We have two awesome children, Grady and Millee. They keep us busy! We love traveling, especially if it's a road trip. We also enjoy going to our cabin in Elk River where we can ride our side-by-side, go fishing and hunting, and just enjoying the outdoors!

I started at Christensen Orthodontics in January 2014 as an orthodontic assistant, but had previously worked in pediatric dentistry for five years. I worked as anassistant for many years before Dr. Christensen asked me to be the Sleep Care Coordinator. Attending a lot of continuing education courses peaked my interest on the subject. I have really enjoyed getting to learn all about how to help improve our patients' overall health. I just love being a part of such an amazing, fun-loving team that works together to provide our patients with the best service possible.

My husband and Ilove watching football, singing karaoke and anything outdoors. We were blessed with a beautiful, baby girl name Shiloh in November 2021 and she has our whole hearts! We also have a cat named Martha May and a chameleon named Pascal to complete our little family. We are always busy these days but couldn't be happier.

I started working at Christensen Orthodontics in November of 2021. I didnt know what to expect, as I had never worked at an orthodontic office before. What I found was an amazing team of people that work hard to ensure that the patients not only have a great smile, but have the best health possible. Dr. Christensen wants the best for each and every patient that walks through the office. He shares that passion with the rest of the team, and they all work hard to give the patient the best experience and outcome possible.

As the Financial Coordinator, I work closely with insurance companies. I submit claims to them so you dont have to. Although I dont see patients when they come in, I have an open door. I welcome everyone with financial questions to stop by so we can review their account.

I have been married for 32 years. We have 3 adult children, all of which are married. We have 2 grandchildren and one on the way. We are hoping for more grandchildren in the future, so we can spoil them rotten, as well. When Im not working, I love camping, fishing, boating, and spending time with family.

I currently live in Lewiston with my husband and our five, beautiful children. Weenjoy the outdoors so we spend most of our time camping, hunting, fishing and boating. We also love watching our kids play sports and compete in academic competitions.

I started working at Christensen Orthodontics in April 2021. I am one of two front desk girls; you may hear my voice when you call, we run the office schedule and send any referrals you may need. I graduated from Lewiston-Clark State College with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing.

I enjoy seeing all the faces that walk through these doors each day. I also enjoy the opportunity to be a part of a team that is helping people breathe better and gain confidence with their new smile.

I began my work as an orthodontic assistant at Christensen Orthodontics in 2017. The first thing I noticed after working here is the amazing team. I love getting to work with all of these fabulous people who make work so fun. Everyone has their special part to play, and everyone works together to make sure our patients experience is the best they can get.

I have a wonderful boyfriend. We spend a lot of our time traveling and adventuring as much as we can. We also enjoy summertime acrivities like camping, paddle boarding and road trips. In my free time, you can catch me enjoying the sunshine or reading a good murder mystery.

I began my career at Christensen Orthodontics, in 2020, as an orthodontic assistant. I was firsta patient of Dr. Christensen's in 2011, and felt welcomed and cared for from the beginning. I love that our first focus inhelping our patients is improving their airways. I enjoy the opportunity to work with our fantastic patients and team. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the confidence and smile on our patient's face while improving their nasal and oral airways, and creating a healthy and beautiful smile. At a young age, I have always been very passionate in helping others. At Christensen Orthodontics, I have been able to fulfill thispassion.

I was born and raised in Grangeville, Idaho and moved to Lewiston, Idaho in 2020. Growing up surrounded by nature, I aquired a deep appreciation and love for the outdoors. My fiance', Brandon, and our two daughters, Everly and Ember, love to spend our free time camping, fishing, kayaking, playing video games and playing fetch with our dog, Dobie.

I am a clinical assistant and enjoy learning new things everyday. Dr. Christensen and the team have really made me feel welcome. My oldest son finished treatment with Dr. Christensen and my daughter is currently in treatment. Her breathing has improved so much. She no longer has sleepless nights due to breathing problems, and no longer takes antihistamines. I am excited to be a part of the team that has improved my children's health, and be able to help other patients achieve the same goal.

I was born in Chico, California and raised here in Lewiston Idaho, graduating from LHS in 1998. I have been working in the medical field since 1998 and attended LCSC for Collision Repair. I took a break and raised our three children for 9 years in Moscow, Idaho. When moving back to Lewiston, I decided to get back into the medical field, starting in Medical Records/Transcriptionist and moving up to Pediatrics. I love working with patients and getting to know them every day.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Frank. We met in Collision Repair at LCSC and married in 2003. We are the proud parents of three kids, two boys and one girl. We enjoy outdoor activities and watching our kids play sports. We spend lots of time together boating, camping, razoring/motorcycle riding, fishing and hunting. I enjoy exercising. GRIT/HIIT workouts are my favorite and running with my sister.

I started working with Dr. Christensen and his team in August 2020. I graduated from Clarkston High School and went on to complete my Dental Assistant Certification through LCSC. I wantto work in a career where I am able to help people and that is what I found at Dr. Christensen's office. I love that Dr. Christensen's staff helps to improve patients' confidence and their breathing which improves their overall health.

Outside of the office I love to spend my time outside with my family and close friends. I am married and have one fur baby. She is a four-year-oldGerman Shepherd. I love to take her to the beach, camping, boating, hiking, and side by side riding. I have been married since August 2019 to my husband, Fernando. My husband works at Joe Hall Ford in Lewiston since 2018. We haven't lived here our whole lives but consider the valley our home. I come from a big family and I am very involved in my younger sibling'slives. I have 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

I joined Dr. Christensen's team in January 2018. As our records coordinator, I assist Dr. Christensen by obtaining patients X-rays, scans, photographs, and airway tests used in determining treatment plans. The best part of my job is getting to know our patients on a personal level and seeing the positive effects their treatment has on their life. I look forward to coming into work each day to improve the health and well-being of our patients.

I grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico. My husband Martin and I were married in 2004 and have two children, Nate and Mia. In our free time, we enjoy camping, hiking, tubing on the river, and are active in our church.

Bret B. Christensen DDS, MS, D ASBA - Orthodontist in Lewiston, ID

I started working for Dr. Christensen in October 2017. Though I have only just begun my career in the dental field, I have worked in the medical field for 18 years. As our lab tech, I make all those fun shiny appliances for your mouth! My favorite part of my job is knowing that with all the appliances Im making, Im not only helping our patients with a beautiful smile but in many cases opening airways and saving lives. I love my job; the team has been so inviting and helpful. I am so happy and blessed to be working for such a great, kind-hearted doctor!

I have lived in the LCV all my life. I have a son Treyten who is my world. We love camping with our family and two little fur babies Bentley and Dolch. When were not camping, we are hanging with our family and friends.

After graduating from Lewiston High School I started attending college to earn a degree as a radiology technician. I am always looking for new ways to help people and brighten someone's day. Having undergone treatment from Dr. Christensen, and his lovely staff, it was a no brainer when the opportunity to join the team and help other individuals gain confidence and a bright new smile came to me. I love working at the office with Dr. Christensen and all the fantastic ladies who are so dedicated to helping their patients.

At Christensen Orthodontics, we provide airway centric orthodontic treatment. This allows us to look beyond teeth, helping to restore optimal health and oral function to each patient. Our Mission Statement

Being Board Certified in sleep medicine (ASBA) has completely changed the way that we look at a patient. The underlying cause of all orthodontic problems is the airway. It all starts with a little string under the tongue called a tongue tie. When someone is born with a tongue tie, their tongue can not push up into the palate and help to grow the palate like it is supposed to. Underdevelopment of the palate leads to a high arched palate and a constricted nasal airway. The roof of the mouth and the floor of the nose are the same exact bone. Not having an adequate nasal airway creates obligate mouth breathers which in turn drops the tongue farther away from the palate. An underdeveloped upper jaw leads to crooked and crowded teeth and jaw misalignment. Just moving theteeth, using traditional orthodontic treatment, doesn't correct the cause. We diagnose the cause of the maloclusion and treat the airway, along with the bite, to have a more comprehensive treatment.

For adults that are seeking orthodontic treatment, it will also include airway testing. Sleep Apnea is major issue in children and adults. Our treatment will include sleep testing and appliances to grow adult jaws, not just straighten teeth. Again just straightening teeth doesn't fix the cause. There is now technology to grow adult jaws and improve airways along with improving sleep apnea. No other orthodontist in our region does what we do.

At Christensen Orthodontics, we love helping each patient straighten their teeth, one smile at a time. We provide the highest-level of patient-focused care, always attentive to your unique needs and concerns, and we do it with a smile!

Dr. Bret Christensen and our team members deliver orthodontic treatment that will gently shift your teeth into correct alignment. Youll be thrilled with your healthy, confident new smile, and with the friendliness of everyone here.

The minute you walk through the doors youll be greeted with warm smiles from our front office staff and youll be surrounded by laughter. Dr. Christensen and everyone here love telling jokes and sharing stories with their patients. The bonds that develop while a person is in our care extend beyond the office: we support our community in many ways.

If youre an adult who has long dreamed of an amazing smile, but felt braces were only for children and teens, we can help you. Christensen Orthodontics offers clear braces: made of ceramic, theyre virtually invisible, so you can straighten your teeth with no one knowing youre doing so. What people will notice, though, is that youre smiling with greater confidence and a lot more often, too!

Before you commit to orthodontic care for yourself or your child, its important you know the treatment options available. Its just as important to choose a practice that provides leading-edge care, delivered by a doctor and team whom you trust and like.

Christensen's was our second opinion on KayeLees teeth. We went to another local orthodontist for her initial appt and they were going to charge an unbelievable amount of money for 2 stages of braces. Regretfully our other daughter had already gotten hers on with them. Christensen's focused on breathing, sleeping and confidence! KayeLees braces came off yesterday after 1.5 years, and I couldn't be more impressed by the staff and the quality of work. Her smile is beautiful and her confidence spiked! Thank you Christensens orthodontics !!! Ps. They are way cheaper and do wayyyy more than most! And work with you for payments.

Unfortunately they are for their bottom line, not customer service. They will unprofessionally pass blame on other providers for their own orthodontic equipment failures and not care at all that it's on their patients dime. I was warned before we went there of this and I should've listened!! Updated*on 11/8/19 the hygienist that cleaned my daughters teeth diligently spent over an hour removing glue left behind after her braces were removed. She also did this without blood in the gums or any pain that would Surely be accompanied by someone being too aggressive!! We have had moment with hygienists being too aggressive here, as well as being left without help when her gums were wide open from the springs and were simply told she knew how to deal with it. Again, I was warned that the end line would be fine with this company but the service was based on their bottom line.

My bottom permanent retainer had been hanging on by a tiny piece of glue for about ten years, and it came loose three days ago. The second day I could tell a tooth had moved both physically and aesthetically. I called Christensen, and was in chair this a.m. at 10:30. The retainer had been on for thirty years. He took it off and I opted to put that tooth back in place which will take approximately three weeks with a temporary retainer that will coax that tooth to behave itself, and then a new slimmer permanent retainer will be attached. I am overly thrilled with the service and attentiveness.
