Straightening teeth can be beneficial for more than just the overall appearance of one's teeth. By straightening teeth, patients also gain health benefits from teeth that do not have as many places to trap food in them as crooked teeth. However, many patients do not prefer the obvious and cumbersome metal braces that they have to wear in order to straighten their teeth.

Fortunately, we offer clear aligners as an alternative to braces that are just as effective. Patients will be able to benefit from wearing clear aligners while also straightening their teeth in a discreet manner. Clear aligners are an efficient alternative to traditional braces. Here are a few key factors that people need to understand about clear aligners.

Clear aligners are the preferable choice for many patients since they are removable and are not obvious to other people. The clear aligners come in a set, with each aligner being at a different position that gradually pushes the teeth into the proper position.

The aligners consist of a clear plastic material that does not change the color of the teeth and will only be noticeable when the wearer tells someone to look at the teeth up close. With the discreet appearance, patients will not need to feel self-conscious about wearing clear aligners.

Before patients begin the process, we will need to take molds and measurements of the patient's teeth. We will then send this data to the lab and measure out the treatment plan. For the treatment plan, the patient will wear different clear aligners every two weeks or so and move onto the next pair. With this process, the patient will only feel pain for the first day or so and will have straight teeth before they know it.

Clear aligners are also removable but need to stay in the patient's mouth for at least 22 hours a day. If the patient needs to remove the aligners to eat or to play a sports game, then he or she just needs to place them back in as soon as possible. When eating, patients will remove the aligners and return them to the mouth once they finish eating and clean their mouth out. People may also remove the aligners for an important meeting, presentation, date or to take photos. Below are a few factors that patients need to keep in mind when they are wearing clear aligners.

Clear aligners are not always the best treatment for children or children in their early teens. Since clear aligners require more responsibility to care for, children are not always responsible enough to take proper care of them. In many cases, a child may remove the clear aligners for lunch and then throw them out with the lunch bag by accident.

The child may also have trouble remembering to remove the aligners to brush his or her actual teeth each night and then replace the aligners. Since they require more care, we recommend that children stick to braces until they are more responsible.

While clear aligners are great for being a discreet straightening option, patients need to clean their teeth after each meal before placing the aligners back in. Patients remove the clear aligners to eat or drink and then must replace the aligners.

However, if one does not clean his or her teeth before replacing the aligners, then there is a good chance that the food will be visible in the aligners. Thus, we recommend that patients strive to brush or at least rinse the mouth with water after every meal.

While clear aligners are removable and the patient needs to take them out for certain situations, the patient needs to put them back in fairly quickly. With braces, the patient does not have the option to remove them and does not interrupt the overall straightening process. However, removing the aligners for too long can cause the teeth to begin to return to their old position.

The longer a patient removes the clear aligners for, the longer the treatment can take overall. Therefore, it is best to only remove the clear aligners for a certain amount of time before returning them to the mouth.

Dr. Ciapciak and her team are amazing! My dentist retired so I was in the market for a new dentist for the first time ever in my life and I could not have asked for a better dental experience like the one provided by Dr. Ciapciak, Gian and Marissa. Thank you! Dr. Ciapciak is everything you would want in your dentist and more. She is professional, gentle, knowledgeable, explained everything to me before doing any work (including letting me in on her own thought process), guided me through my decision-making without putting any pressure on me, didn't suggest or perform any unnecessary dental work, and is just a really kind and caring doctor. I felt completely safe and comfortable in her care. Her staff is also very professional and friendly. Gian did a great job taking my x-rays and giving me a "roadmap" about what to expect during my current visit and future visits. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Ciapciak and the Brede Ciapciak Dental team, and will be sending all my friends and family their way!

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Ciapciak. The people in this practice are rock stars. I cracked a tooth in mid April. My family dentist was slow to get back to me. He took six days! So I got an appointment at a large dental chain that does a free full exam, periodontal charting and x-rays. They could do the procedure six days later, but they said I needed another $7000 of dental work in addition to the extraction, possible bone graft and implant for a total of $14,000. A nightmare of calling dentist after dentist to get a second opinion and to get the work done ensued. Every practice said that they were backed up because of the pandemic and could not do the extraction until June or July! None would see a new patient right away for a dental emergency. I called Dr. Ciapciak on May 3. She said she keeps slots open for emergencies and did the procedure the same DAY. And a good thing too, because in the two and a half weeks it took me to find a dentist during a pandemic, the tooth became infected. The office is modern, nicely decorated and sparkling clean. The mood in the office is warm and upbeat. Dr. Ciapciak is an awesome, warm, funny, interesting and supportive person. I was still terrified and she talked me through every step of the procedure, making me feel that she had my back. I had local anesthetic and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and the procedure was painless, and once the gas kicked in, I was too zoned out to be afraid. I was aware of what was going on but was too relaxed to care. Dr. Brede administers the nitrous oxide and did a great job. Four staff stayed late to accommodate me and I am very grateful to them. The two big bonuses here are that Dr. Ciapciak's second opinion is I DON"T have to have the $7000 of dental work and that she and Dr. Brede go to India and do free dental work at an orphanage! Implants are expensive but I really do not mind giving my money to professionals who are so compassionate and do such good work, both in the office and in the world. The day after the procedure, I had a strange allergic reaction and had hives all over my cheek over the extraction. I emailed her pictures of my face and we talked on the phone. She called back an hour after the first talk to check on me. I called mid-afternoon and left a message that I was going to see my PCP and she called back within an hour and insisted that I call her emergency number after hours to hear what the PCP said. The rash eventually cleared up with allergy medicine and I am being referred to an allergist. So- I talked to Dr. Ciapciak FOUR TIMES in ONE DAY over a complication which was uncomfortable but not an emergency. The only person who ever cared that much about my dental health was my MOTHER, LOL. I have never had a dentist or doctor talk to me four times in one day, EVER. Because of the infection, the implant could not be done the same day. I will be going back for a Bicon implant (look it up- that is a great short post implant that less frequently requires a bone graft). This is a superior dentist who uses a superior implant system. I cannot recommend this dental practice enough.

I wish I could give ten stars. This place is amazing. I've been going for over ten years and they are the only ones I trust to do my dental work. I drive an hour to see them now! Everyone at the office is so friendly and kind, and very sensitive to those with dental anxiety like myself. They make you feel so comfortable, offer numbing gel and fidgets to play with during cleanings, and talk you through everything in an easy to understand way. They have helped me come so far with my anxiety around going to the dentist! Everyone goes above and beyond to help you. I am so thankful and lucky to have found Dr. Brede, Dr. Ciapciak, and their amazing team!

Very nice dentists and assistants. Always make you feel comfortable. I have terrible anxiety with dentists considering my last dentist left me with a mouth full of blood. Dr. Brede and Dr. Ciapciak are very nice and made me feel very comfortable. Highly recommend them!

This practice is exceptionally kind to my 98 year old mother, who has been their client for decades. The new office space is fantastic: clean, bright, spacious. Staff are all professionally capable, caring and efficient. A very re-assuring experience for mom and for me. They've managed to improve her dental hygiene in a few visits; covid made her dental care more difficult. This is a great practice!

My first visit was terrific. I was greeted by Dr Brede as a new patient even though his colleague did the work. Dr Ciapciak was very thoughtful, thorough and knowledgeable. Gian, her assistant, was wonderful and professional. Marisa and Elizabeth are just the people you want meeting and greeting your patients. Looking forward to my next appointment.

Dr Brede is our family dentist for many years and I also just started receiving dental care from Dr Ciapciak. They are both competent and compassionate professionals whom I highly recommend. Recent visit with Dr Ciapciak was both pleasant and thorough. She was concerned and caring about a previous incidental finding on my dental x-ray, and I deeply appreciated it.

Second visit, but first with dental hygienist. She gave me a thorough cleaning, felt fresh and clean. I had some other issues, and Dr Ciapciak spent time reviewing my options. I felt COVID safe with all of their protections including an air purifying system.

I have been seeing Dr. Brede for around 10 years, maybe more. He is very thorough and very thoughtful. He is not quick to suggest procedures which may not be necessary and his judgments in my case have been 100% on target. Dr. Brede always takes into consideration my concerns which I appreciate. I see, Kerry, one of the hygienists at the practice. She, too, is thorough but also gentle. The new facility is state of the art and quite beautiful. I highly recommend Brede Ciapciak Dental!

I generally do not like going to the dentist's office, I always try to avoid it if I can, which is never recommended! As of recently I really needed some help with some clinching at the jaw, and decided to contact Brede Ciapciak Dental, on the recommendation of Gian, who is also one of the best dental assistants I have ever worked with. Together with Dr. Ciapciak, Gian made me feel welcome, comfortable and confident in my decision to seek help! At my appointment I was instructed on what to do, not to do and how to better my situation. Fitted for a night guard was a scary thought at the beginning but it has revolutionized my nighttime routine and comfort levels. I love the attention I was given, I felt like the only patient in the queue despite knowing they are a busy practice, I was assured I was getting their full attention, they were listening to my concerns and treating me like a human and not just another patient. I would highly recommend seeing this dynamic duo, and getting all of your dental needs met! 10/10

I'm so thankful this place was recommended to me. Dr. Brede seems so genuinely nice. The first time I came in he had a bunch of vegetables from his garden in the waiting room for anyone to take. Who does that? Dr. Ciapciak is amazing. She is exceptionally talented and has this awesome personality. I've never felt so confident my health was being completely taken care of. She explains everything so well she literally anticipated every question I had and could've had. The office is stunning and the technology is first rate. Staff is great too! Gian will make you feel right at home. Taylor and Marissa made everything from insurance, communication, payment, everything, a breeze. No pushy sales stuff at all here either. I feel like they honestly just want to make you happy. This might sound dramatic but I feel like I hit the lottery finding this place. Seriously, if you don't want to worry about your teeth ever again, call them!

I have been going to Dr Brede for 20+ years because I feel like I'm getting excellent dental care and I love the warmth and humor of Dr Brede and staff. Dr Brede explains everything he is doing while he is doing it and always makes sure you are comfortable. Same is true for Dr Ciapciak who joined the practice a few years ago. I live 20 miles away, but I wouldn't take my teeth anywhere else.
