Dr. Shilo Annis is a Maine native and has forged a non-traditional path to become a dentist. After matriculating Windham High School, Dr. Annis enlisted in the Army where he was stationed for several years in South America. Shilo then went on to become an Apache Helicopter Pilot in the Army for several years. After Shilo left the Army, he then went on to become a federal agent flying for Customs and Border Protection in San Diego.
While Shilo will always treasure his time flying, he then turned his attention to serving the people in his home state of Maine. He focused on completing his studies at the University of Southern Maine and then attended the University of New England College of Dental Medicine, graduating in the inaugural class. Dr. Annis is a devoted dentist and wants to maintain general practices in which he can serve the local people and their dental concerns. While not at work, Shilo loves any and all activities that allow him to spend time with his wife and two daughters. Yes, I enjoy making beautiful smiles. Moreover, I really enjoy helping someone that is anxious at the dentist become more relaxed and providing solutions for their concerns.

I am a new patient to Breakwater Dental and am extremely happy with the service they provide. From the receptionists, to Crystal, the dental hygienist, to the dentist Josh.. all were so nice and welcoming. They took there time, explained everything as they went and made recommendations on what they saw needed improvement. I did not feel pressured to have additional work done, which is so appreciated. If you are looking for a dentist, I highly, highly recommend them.

I had a dentist appointment at Breakwater Dental on Thursday, September 8th. It was a pleasant and positive experience. First, I was greeted by the receptionist who was courteous and friendly. Then the dental hygienist came in and took me in and did my cleaning. She was superb, educating me on the procedures and updating me as to the condition of my teeth. She was thorough and gentle. Then I met with Dr. Shilo who examined me and gave me options for what to do with my teeth. He was excellent! The office was clean and professional. The best part was the bill was more than affordable. What a great experience I had at Breakwater Dental! I cannot recommend them highly enough!

I cannot stress enough how AWFUL this establishment is. The receptionists are so beyond rude and not helpful at all. The dentists are aggressive and don't seem to have much knowledge about dental. I wish dr Ruetty was still in business, because breakwater is not equivalent at all. Don't waste your time or money! Go to Aspen!

I had a tooth pulled that had been bothering and keeping me up at night. The staff was great and got me in on short notice. I was told step by step what was happening and after it was done was given all the necessary information for the healing process. Being I had a tooth pulled the staff made it very easy and turned a bad time into a much more pleasant experience. Overall I would recommend them to anyone they were very helpful and kind.

Haven't been to the dentist in a long time and was nervous to go to one after such a long time. Found Breakwater Dental from a friend who works there and very happy about me experience. This place has such good and friendly staff. No judgment from anyone who works there, and very informative about the whole process. They also give you a lot of information as well on what insurance covers, what your pay is and helps you with making a plan of action for the appointment and payments. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a dentist office!

We've tried many dentists, but our experience with Dr. Edwards at Breakwater Dental was amazing. We've finally found our dentist! The hygienist made my anxious preteen daughter feel at ease and sang-a-long when my spunky daughter tried singing during her cleaning! They were patient and gentle with both of my kids using questions and humor to make it a great experience! I'd definitely recommend for pediatric dental care.

I brought 2 of my children here for their very first dentist appointment. Lydianne was our dental hygienist and she was AMAZING! She explained everything, let them look at the tools, and was very patient with them. They have asked to go back! I have been to the office for myself as well. They were very kind, professional, and gave me a great cleaning. I highly recommend this office!

Doctor is great outlining the plan and explaining what to expect. Process is smooth and painless. I've had two crowns done, with perfect fit both times! Hygienist is a great "coach", too, helping me with techniques that have worked to get gums in better shape. Highly recommend.
