Dr. Ruth knew since 6th grade that she was destined to be an orthodontist. Inspired by her own orthodontist who wore funky, ostrich boots, Dr. Ruth carried on the vibrant, youthful spirit of her patients into her own practice.

After completing her undergraduate work, she enrolled at Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry, to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) with top honors in the fields of pathology, physiology, and microbiology, as well as the Alpha Omega Award for highest GPA. Dr. Ruth continued her studies at the University of Tennessee in Memphis where she completed her graduate training in Orthodontics. Upon graduation, Dr. Ruth set up her private practice, Braces by Dr. Ruth, near downtown Nashville.
Dr. Ruth Edmonds served as assistant professor and course coordinator in the Department of Orthodontics at Meharry Medical College from 2002 to 2011. Always eager to expand her knowledge of new technology and trends in the field, she regularly attends seminars to consistently build on her foundation in orthodontic treatments.
As a leader in the orthodontic field, Dr. Ruth has been asked to lecture at the Capital City Dental Society as well as the Pan-Tennessee Dental Society with her research published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. In 2008, Dr. Ruth graduated from the ADA Institute for Diversity in Leadership and received the National Dental Association Convention Chairperson Award and the Capital City Dental Society Committee Chairman Award.
Married to vocalist, Kevon Edmonds, lead singer of R&B Group After 7, together they have a daughter Karmella Rose Edmonds. Outside of the office, Dr. Ruth is passionate about fitness, traveling, shopping, reading and creating works of stained and fused glass that earned her recognition in 2012 when the Mayor of Nashville appointed her to the Metro Arts Commission.

Call today about appointment because they over booked for the day my daughter was supposed to go. Call this morning to reschedule and the lady that answered was rude, when I asked if there was a Office manager I could talk to she stated that they don't have one and hung up the phone. Will be looking for another dentist for my children. How is it you don't have a Office manager to help with issues. Not good

When I am sometimes fidgety when I move around a lot when they are replacing my wires they are very understanding and considerate. My son received braces in the Spring of 2021 and to date, we have not received a treatment update. I asked for an update (in early September) and was told that I would have to wait until the next appointment in November. Communication and customer service needs attention and improvement.
