Many teenagers are eager to find a discreet way to fix their crooked or misaligned teeth. If your teen is reluctant to try traditional braces, Invisalign may be an option. Invisalign's clear, removable aligners gently shift teeth into the correct position.

During adolescence, it is normal for many teens to experience feelings of self-consciousness. Teenage patients tend to worry that braces will adversely impact their appearance. For this reason, teens may oppose the idea of getting visible traditional braces.

Fortunately, Invisalign is a discreet way to correct misaligned teeth. These clear removable aligners are difficult to spot once they are in place, so most people have no idea that a teen is undergoing Invisalign treatment. Another benefit of Invisalign is that patients can remove their aligners for photos and special occasions. Invisalign boasts a 96% satisfaction rate. The majority of Invisalign patients are satisfied with their results and would recommend Invisalign to a friend.

Invisalign corrects most orthodontic problems within 12-18 months. Many patients notice significant improvement within the first six months of treatment. However, each patients treatment plans will vary. Severe dental issues may take longer to resolve.

Consistent use of the aligners is essential. Patients should keep their aligners in place at least 22 hours per day. Aligners can be removed during meals, oral hygiene, and special events. For optimal results, patients must wear their aligners as often as possible.

Clunky braces or orthodontic appliances can be embarrassing during school events. With Invisalign, teens can remove their clear aligners for a few hours. Since the aligners are nearly invisible, some patients may not mind wearing their aligners to special events.

Metal braces can cause mouth lacerations. If your teen gets hit while playing sports, they might experience bleeding or oral teas. Their braces may become damaged, too. Playing sports while wearing braces can be risky and may lead to complex repairs. With Invisalign, your child can remove their aligners before physical activities. Taking out the aligners helps prevent injury and damage to orthodontic appliances.

Many teens prize the ability to remove their aligners while in front of a camera. With traditional braces, teens may feel too embarrassed to smile for pictures. With removable clear aligners, teens have the confidence to enjoy photos and videos.

While the aligners are removable, frequent use helps speed up treatment and ensures results. The more often your teen wears their aligners, the better. Patients should aim to wear their aligners 20-22 hours per day. Most orthodontists recommend removing aligners only for meals, oral hygiene, and occasional special events.

Patients should thoroughly brush their aligners at least once a day. Our dental team can recommend specialized products to keep the trays fresh and clean. Check with the office before trying out a new product. Some oral hygiene products may damage the aligners.

Teens should avoid eating while the trays are in place. It is fine to sip water throughout the day, but teens should remove their aligners before drinking anything else. Hot beverages like coffee can warp or stain the aligners. Teens should also keep their aligners safely stored since setting aligners on a plate or napkin while eating can lead to lost or damaged aligners. Avoid exposing the aligners to extreme heat or cold, and keep the aligners secure in a purse, backpack, or bathroom cupboard.

Invisalign can produce a brighter smile, but sloppy oral hygiene or careless habits can undermine treatment results. Keeping up with treatment recommendations pays off. Teens who follow up with their orthodontists recommendations enjoy straighter teeth and improved oral health. If your teen does not take care of their aligners or wear them daily, they may not see results.

Invisalign requires a high level of responsibility, and some teens may not be good candidates for this treatment. If your child struggles to keep up with daily chores and tasks, they might do better with traditional braces. Parents should consider whether their child is mature and responsible enough to be in charge of their own orthodontic care.

A. Significant dental problems sometimes require traditional braces, headgear, or surgery. However, Invisalign is suitable for a wide range of orthodontic concerns. If your teen has minor crowding or spacing issues, Invisalign may be a good option. Our team can help you make an informed treatment decision.

A. Patients must wear their clear aligners for at least 20-22 hours per day. If your teen often removes their aligners, treatment may not progress as expected. Invisalign patients must understand that their compliance helps ensure a positive outcome.

A. Invisalign clear aligners for teens have a discreet blue dot. This dot gradually disappears as your teen wears their aligner. Parents and providers can examine the dot to ensure the patient is following directions.

By visiting us as soon as possible, our team can help get you the professional treatment you need. Instead of waiting around and allowing the symptoms to get worse, we can provide you with treatment options.

The term invisible braces is commonly used to refer to an orthodontic system that is less conspicuous than traditional braces. Invisible braces can correct numerous problems. These include crowded teeth and crooked or spaced teeth. They may also be ideal for a few teeth that are out of position. Read on to find out how

Orthodontic care is a rite of passage for many children. Your child should receive an ortho evaluation by age seven. During this checkup, the dental provider determines whether your child needs further care. If braces are in your child's future, the dental team can create a treatment plan.

Early or interceptive orthodontic treatment begins between the ages of 6-9. This stage of treatment is also known as Phase One orthodontics. During this stage, a child may not have permanent teeth. As a result, the dental team usually does not focus on straightening teeth. Instead, they improve jaw alignment and bite. The team might also correct spacing issues.

The dental team makes sure that permanent teeth can shift into the right position. They also take a close look at the child's jaw size and shape. During each visit, the team takes measurements and tries to anticipate problems that might occur down the road. Interceptive treatments may eliminate the need for braces later on. If a child needs braces, early intervention may shorten treatment duration. Interceptive care protects a child's smile and reduces treatment costs.

After Phase One is complete, a child enjoys a rest period. The dental team usually pauses treatment for 1-3 years. They wait for the permanent teeth to erupt and for the jaw to develop. Once a child's mouth is ready, the team takes measurements to determine whether that child needs Phase Two treatment.

Phase Two usually begins around age 11-13. But keep in mind that each child's mouth is unique. There is no ideal age for braces. The dental team considers a family's needs and preferences. They discuss options and explain the advantages of different treatment strategies.

Older teens and adults are also eligible for Phase Two care. Older patients sometimes have a wider selection of treatment options. Our dental team can help patients explore their options and make an informed choice.

In recent years, clear aligners have become a commonplace orthodontic treatment. These removable trays have some advantages over traditional braces. Patients can take their aligners out to eat, brush, or attend special events. Aligners are discreet and nearly invisible. As a result, they are a popular option for teens.

But aligners are not right for everyone. Most dental providers recommend aligners exclusively for older teens and adults. Patients must be responsible and disciplined when using aligners. Younger patients may not be ready for this level of responsibility. Aligners can fix mild-to-moderate problems, but they are not right for severe orthodontic problems. If the patient has complex dental needs, traditional braces might be a better choice. Our team can discuss clear aligners in more detail.

Many parents wonder whether their child will need braces. The dental provider can offer an in-depth evaluation. During routine checkups, the provider takes measurements and examines the child's bite. They can also provide a referral for an orthodontic evaluation.

All children should receive an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. The provider may perform this evaluation in the office, or they may refer the child out. Ask the dental team what to expect during an orthodontic evaluation.

Certain risk factors can increase a child's chances of needing orthodontic care. Some childhood behaviors can also be a warning sign of underlying orthodontic problems. Parents should talk to the dental provider about the following:

Some of these issues may resolve on their own. But if a parent notices any changes in their child's mouth, they should call a dental provider right away. Early intervention may reduce a child's risk of needing braces later on.

Braces are not the only way to fix an orthodontic issue. In some cases, the dental team may recommend retainers, rubber bands, jaw splints, headgear, or palate expanders. If a child has severe issues, surgery may be required. Our team can review the patients options and make a decision about treatment.

    A. Children can not receive first braces until their permanent teeth have erupted. Many children can begin to receive interceptive orthodontic care around age seven. As permanent teeth shift into place, the dental team can explore other treatments. Many children receive braces around age 11-13. Orthodontic treatment can continue until the patient is in their late teens.

    A. Children should receive an orthodontic evaluation by age seven. At this age, an orthodontist can spot developing problems. The provider can also recommend interceptive treatments and plan for future orthodontic care.

    A. Each patient is unique. Our orthodontist takes a close look at your child's mouth to determine what kind of care they need. We help parents explore their treatment options and make an informed decision.

    A. Some teenagers may be eligible for clear aligners. These discreet, removable appliances can correct many orthodontic concerns. But clear aligners are not right for every patient. Sometimes, traditional braces are a better choice. Our orthodontist can determine whether your child is a candidate for clear aligners.

    A. It is not always possible to avoid braces. Genetic factors can influence jaw size and shape. Sometimes, children develop dental problems without warning. But lifestyle factors can also play a role. Risk factors for orthodontic problems include:

Dr Young and staff at Braces @ Brick have been wonderful the past several years. They were patient and flexible, as my daughter didn't always do what she was supposed to. It took her longer to get her braces off than originally anticipated, but Dr Young worked with her, and adjusted as needed. I have one or two other kids who will likely need braces, and I will not hesitate to bring them here. Highly recommend Dr Young.

All of the staff was warm and inviting. They had my daughter laughing during an appointment she was not so happy about. We both left feeling excited to start treatment and look forward to a beautiful smile filled with confidence.

Staff is amazing and very very friendly. Dr Young is a hoot and my son gets the biggest kick out of him. One drawback I found to be getting an issue is my wait time. I am usually there 10 minutes before my appointment time and typically we are waiting 20 to 35 minutes past my appointment time.

Dr. Young and his staff are very professional and nice. Personally for my son we've experienced lots of patience as my son isn't the easiest dental patient. They've cheered him on and calmed him whenever he's expressed nervousness or being uncomfortable from getting his impressions done. I am so happy we chose Dr. Young's office.
