Instead of the assembly line treatment which is prevalent in so many dental practices today where you have to wait endlessly in the waiting room only to receive quick, impersonal treatment; at our office, you will be seated on time and receive the one on one comprehensive care you deserve. I will always take the time to thoroughly examine and identify your dental needs. Then, you and I will address those needs and the recommended treatment required to correct them. We will also discuss the consequences which will occur if the recommended treatment is not followed.
But, here is where our office is different from many others: if finances, fear, lack of time or other reasons prevent you from having our preferred treatment, we will look at alternatives which better suit your unique situation. While most dental problems have preferred treatments, all problems have alternate solutions! While we strive to provide the highest, most comprehensive care possible, we will never pressure you into a treatment you are not comfortable with. Our professions focus is to examine, inform, educate, and provide quality care; never to judge or intimidate. We truly believe if you come to our office you will never be afraid of the dentist again!
Dr. Bowman R. Browne was raised in Boykins, Virginia where his father was a dentist and his mother was a school teacher and homemaker. While in high school at Southampton Academy, Dr. Browne earned the prestigious Eagle Scout award. He was also captain of the basketball team and participated in many clubs.
At the University of Richmond, Dr. Browne received his BA in Biology. Following the path of his father and older brother, he attended Dental School at the Medical College of Virginia where he held the position of student body president. After graduating from dental school, he was fortunate to be able to take over the dental practice of retiring Dr. Van Heely in Portsmouth and spent 9 years practicing in his Portside office.
In 1998, Dr. Browne moved his practice to its current North Suffolk location and has enjoyed treating families in this rapidly growing area. Dr.Bo Browne lives in Suffolk with his wife, Jodi; their sons Reed and Cole; and theirGolden Retriever, Banks. He is an activemember of Main Street United Methodist Church where he serves as Lay Leader, Liaison for Boy Scout Troop 1, and sits on many other committees. He has served on the board of The Battered Womens Shelter and coached youth football, soccer, and basketball. In his spare time, Dr. Browne enjoys spending time with his family at home, their cottage in Kitty Hawk, or at University of South Carolina football games where both his sons are in school.
Kimberly Thomas became the face of our practice in January 2016 and has really enjoyed getting to know our patients (we have the BEST patients!). Having grown up in Iowa; she loves her Midwestern roots and still has family there. Before coming to us, Kim worked in the medical and orthodontic fields and has over 20 years of insurance experience! Kimberlys husband is a proud member of the United States Coast Guard as is her son, Caleb. In addition, they have 2 lovely daughters, Kaylene and Krista. When not in the office, Kim enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, traveling and reading.
Colleen Pioli came to us via Massachussetts, California, Virginia Beach, and finally Suffolk!! She has over 30 years of Dental Assisting experience, having graduated from junior college and the Concorde Career Institute and then earning her RDA license at UCLA. Colleen is very proud of her husband Jim, who is now retired after26 years in the Navy; having worked his way up to Senior Chief. She has supported his career by serving as an ombudsman and as Vice President of his ships family support group. Their family includes children Mickie, Matthew,and Tony; grandchildren Neveah,15, and Marcos, 17; and their adorablepup, Maggie. Colleen enjoys cooking, movies, travel, spending time with family and being outdoors.
Sharon Fanny joined us in 2005 bringing over two decades of Dental Assisting experience! She received her CDA certificate at Old Dominion University and worked for over 20 years as a dental assistant for Dr. William March in Suffolk until his retirement. Sharon and her husband, Jimmy, have two sons, Erik and Jason, and live in Suffolk with their Jack Russell terrier, Bud, and 4 spoiled cats. Sharon's family expanded by 1 last year when her son Erik married her new daughter-in-law, Beth! In her spare time, Sharon enjoys reading, doing needlework, and writing childrens stories and poetry.
Jodi Browne grew up in Newport News and graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Business. She serves as the practice Office Manager and you will find her at the front desk helping patients, supporting the staff or working on projects such as the website and our brand new Dental Wellness Plan! Outside the office, Jodi enjoys exercising, the beach, spending time with her family and doting on her Golden, Banks and kitty, Callie She also volunteers at Main Street United Methodist Church and has been the proud Captain of the Riverview Relay for Life Team for over 15 years.
