Congratulations to Dr. Kenneth Bowman on his retirement! He has dedicated his heart and soul in service of his patients for more than 50 years while building our amazing dental practice. Though he will be sorely missed, we are thrilled to see him enjoy retirement in our community surrounded by family and friends (many of whom started as patients!).
Dr. Bowman is one of Virginias own, born in Grottoes, Virginia. He graduated from Montevideo High School then went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bridgewater College in 1963. Pursuing one of his life passions, he attended Medical College of Virginia earning one of the highest clinical awards in his third year of dental school. Once Dr. Bowman graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1967, he opened his private practice in downtown Waynesboro. Since then, Dr. Bowman continued to provide compassionate, exceptional and customized dental care for patients from the Staunton/Augusta/Waynesboro area as well as larger surrounding areas.
Dr. Bowman and his wife, Nancy, are the proud parents of two grown sons, grandparents to three wonderful grandchildren, and great-grandparents to one amazing great-grandson. He enjoys golf, is deeply involved in the Fish & Game Association, is a long-time board member and supporter of St. Marks United Methodist Church and is the biggest fan and supporter of the Bridgewater Eagles.
Dr. Rebecca Shin is a native Oregonian and attended Portland State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2003. She graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Oregon Health Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry in 2007. Upon graduation, Dr. Shin began practicing at the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Hillsboro Dental Clinic in Hillsboro, Oregon following her joy in public health dentistry. After 3 years, she and her family moved cross country to Charlottesville, VA. Dr. Shin started at Bowman Family Dentistry as an associate dentist on February 1, 2010, and became business owner in 2016 under mentorship of Dr. Bowman.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Shin loves to spend time and travel with her family, is a deacon at her church where she is involved with the music and college ministries, and loves serving through her Rotary Club.

Hannah has been in dentistry for about 7 years now, from her experience in anexternship at a private dental office as a student, to scheduling coordinator, andnow, Insurance Coordinator/Office Manager. Hannah enjoys getting to know our patients and helping them feel at ease within our practice. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time with her husband and two wonderful boys!
Amy joined our practice in March 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys her family time, being outdoors (when its warm), and playing with her four-legged babies. Amys favorite part about dentistry is meeting new people and being able to help them. She states it is definitely a learning experience.
Kim has been involved in dentistry for over 35 years and was first inspired and fascinated by her next door neighbor who did hygiene. She has been a part of the Bowman Family Dentistry team for the last 30 years and has loved watching generations of families grow up and bring their children back to the dental practice they grew up in. Kim is now working on seeing her fourth generation of families! Outside of dentistry, she loves to boat, golf, and get away to the beach. Most of all, Kim loves spending time with her husband, Paul, daughter and her husband, Paige and Brandon, and her beloved dogs, Champ and Noel.
Lindsey is a graduate of Wytheville Community College and has her Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. Lindsey enjoys getting to know her patients and making a positive influence with education and encouragement. When Lindsey is not serving patients, she enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her husband, Preston, and their dog, Sadie.
Tabatha is a Virginia native having grown up in Stafford and moved to the Valley in 2001. She has worked in some aspect of the dental field most of her adult life. Tabatha graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke in 2009 and 11 years later she is still as passionate about slaying tartar as the day she first picked up her first scaler. She has 2 grown children and she states, being a mother is amazing. In her spare time she quilts and bakes. Tabatha loves learning about preparedness, survival skills and has recently been learning to box.
Amber has worked in dentistry for 11 years. She is a farmers wife and a fur mama of one. Amber enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, feeding the cows, and shopping. She enjoys working in dentistry because she gets to help others and build relationships with patients.
Brittany has been working for Bowman Family Dentistry since 2010. She enjoys being a Dental Assistant and loves performing a variety of tasks during the day. She particularly loves taking care of her patients in need. In her free time, Brittany enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, shopping and camping.
Jessica, or Jessie as we like to call her, has been in dentistry since 2016. It was a field of work she always wanted to be involved in and absolutely loves it. She loves to grow relationships with her patients and make them feel comfortable in the dental chair. In her spare time, Jessie enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors. She is a wife and a mother to two beautiful children who are the light of (her) life.

I called with tooth pain and was seen within three hours. Everyone in the office was so friendly and kind. Dr Shin and her assistant Sadie were professional and made me feel very comfortable. I highly recommend this dental office!

Fantastic dentistry. Very professional and polite, and I really appreciated that despite the fact I'm (clearly) not an expert in dental care, they were very informative and explained the details of how and why they were doing things down to the microbiology of it without making me feel overly ignorant. I'll recommend them to anyone who asks!

I absolutely LOVE this office. My entire family comes here, all 3 of my kids, my husband and myself. The staff is always very polite and professional, VERY CLEAN, they keep your knowledgeable of what's happening, very friendly and personable. Hands down Dr.Chin is the best dentist I have had. I definitely reccomend going here for your dental needs!

The office was outstanding, they always made us feel welcomed, the front staff were very professional. This dentist office will give you an upfront and honest opinion. They are looking out for you and your care first vs what other dentist in the area look at for first "their Wallets" Bowman is a great practice and I'm looking forward to many more great visits

Very impressive staff from front desk personnel to dental technicians to Dr. Shin. Extremely competent services coupled with very friendly staff. This is my third year of receiving dental care from Bowman Family Dentistry and I don't plan on switching. I was also impressed with their excellent COVID-19 precautions unlike a local oral surgery practice. I would most strongly recommend Bowman Family Dentistry without reservation!!

Lindsey is my hygienist. She was very kind and jovial during my visit. She cleaned my teeth professionally and pain free. She was a wonderful conversationalist as well and made the time in the chair completely comfortable! I recommend this office to anyone who is seeking dental care but is afraid to go. Dr. Shin is really down to Earth and easy to talk to! Overall great experience!! Definitely a five star team!!

They are kind, patient and work so hard to make things great for our family and our crazy schedule. Each staff is so friendly and helpful. My mother is disabled and they take their time and make sure she is ok throughout the visit. Thank you all!!
