Dr. Egolum is a skilled and dedicated highly rated Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon practicing in the Washington DC / Maryland metro area where he has lived since 2003. With a philosophy that compassion is the most important element of treatment, Dr. Egolum believes in never treating strangers and makes every effort to know his patients on a personal level.
He completed his dental training at Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington DC. In his final years he served in various leadership positions in student government as Student Council Vice President as well as class treasurer. He displayed tremendous dedication and determination, completing his dental school requirements and national dental board examination an entire semester early. Dr. Egolum graduated at the top of his dental class, earning him an induction in the most prestigious dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon as well as acceptance directly into the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program at Howard University Hospital.
During his rigorous 4 year training, Dr. Egolum received a full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery experience along with countless hours of training in Internal Medicine, General Surgery/Trauma, Emergency Medicine and Anesthesia. Dr. Egolum received extensive anesthesia experience, the bulk of which was at Howard University Hospital, Veterans Hospital of DC and Childrens National Medical Center where he worked with sick children from neonates up to adolescence. He enjoys all disciplines of Oral Surgery but has a special interest in Dentoalveolar, Implant surgery, Facial Trauma and Orthognathic (jaw reconstructive) Surgery. Dr. Egolum is currently on staff at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD.
Dr. Egolum also trained directly with world renowned and published Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Posnick at Georgetown Hospital with whom he published extensive research on the Long-term Outcomes of Orthognathic Surgery in patients with dentofacial deformities.
After completion of residency, Dr. Egolum practiced as an associate surgeon in multiple practices in Greenbelt MD, Silver Spring MD and Rockville, MD for years before finally establishing his solo practice in Bowie, MD in 2018. He has performed over 20,000 surgical procedures and treated over 8000 patients since 2013.

I recently had my wisdom tooth removal procedure done at Bowie Oral Surgery. Overall great and timely service. Lovely, personable staff! Dr. E is the one of the best oral surgeons in Bowie!

This is THE WORST business I've ever dealt with. They have SUPER SHADY billing practices. My insurance and I paid them IN FULL and the come harassing me two years later saying I owe 1k. I contact the, they say oh your insurance company didn't pay. I contact the insurance company, they provide me the EOB showing payment in full less what I paid. They LIE LIE LIE and then continue to harass you even when they KNOW they are wrong. Absolutely NEVER AGAIN!!

.Dr. Egolum is the ultimate professional. His gentle demeanor is carried over in his skill. I am the ultimate dental services hater but he made me comfortable and did and excellent job. i.e. He did not hurt me. His staff is friendly and efficient and his office is clean and spacious. I highly recommend him.

Bowie Oral Surgery and Dental Implants is very professional ,the office is clean and great decor. I had a dental emergency i looked them up called and was able to get in quickly for the consultation during that time i had digital -x-rays done and i saw Dr. Egolum who did the exam during the consultation he was very professional and explained what he would do and had them schedule me for the surgery that was on a Friday February 11,2022 i was able to get the Surgery done on the Monday February 14, 2022. I was also able to pay ahead of time prior to the surgery which was a plus. The Surgery prep on the day of surgery was amazing i had a great nurse who also did my x-rays she was excellent explaining everything that she was doing step by step. The office staff was also excellent taking care of the appointments and the payments as well everything was organized and went smooth. On the day of the surgery Dr. Egolum did a excellent job i was asleep for the procedure and once it was done my Husband was called in to receive instructions from the nurse and to take me home. I followed all the instructions the healing process was gradual i had no problems with my jaw or overwhelming pain either. Thank you to Dr. Egolum and Bowie Oral Surgery team for your attentiveness ,care and great job! I would refer Dr. Egolum Bowie Oral Surgery and Dental implants to anyone that is in need of Oral surgery and all they provide.

Today, today, today. Wow. First, I wanna say that this review that you are going to read is the absolute HARD TRUTH. My husband has been experiencing pain from the one thing that we all dislike--WISDOM TEETH! I had been calling around to different oral surgeons and of course everyone was booked weeks out and I just couldn't take NO for an answer but I did, wasn't nothing they can do. As I'm searching online for the next luck of an surgeon, I prayed and prayed. Sliding down the search engine for more dentist office I stumbled across Bowie Oral Surgery, I called in hoping that if I explained what was going on with the significant other that that receptionist would find it in her heart to squeeze him in and just like that--she did! It was 9:24am and she said can you make it at 11? Indeed we can! Got to Bowie at 10:55 and the rest is history. Now not to get long winded with todays festivities but I am because I'm so happy and relieved that my husband is out of pain! Thank you Dr. E & staff for everything!!! You all are freaking amazing!! It's an understatement on how I'm feeling right now! Thank you for seeing him and taking care of him! And to you readers...I suggest ANYONE to go see him for whatever work you have to get done. I'm so overwhelmed and I didn't even get the work done. And today is Valentine's Day and getting my husband seen was my gift to him. Thank you again guys!!! We will be back for the other 3! Before I forget, the atmosphere was impeccable!

Getting a appointment was a breeze! I was in urgent need of getting my wisdom teeth removed due to having a big cavity on one of them. The front desk staff are so courteous and personable! The office was beautifully appointed. The doctor and Nurse (I'm pretty sure her name is Debbie) are so nice and knowledgeable they answered all my questions and felt comfortable with my procedure. The surfer went great and actually only had a little swelling the first day. If I ever need any more dental help (hopefully I don't lol) I will definitely come back.

I absolutely wish Bowie Oral Surgery was in-network for my oral surgeon needs! The doctor is beyond experienced. The atmosphere is calm and the doctor is quick and very clean!! I literally experienced no pain after getting work done here.

I had tooth extractions done here and my visit was awesome! The staff and Doctor was very professional, polite and courteous. They explained everything to me leading up to the procedure and after the procedure. They checked up on me which meant a lot. The office is nice and clean, & they followed proper steps of sanitation. Overall I had a very nice experience here. I would recommend this place...5 stars! :)

Felt like I was a not a patient but instead a part on a rushed factory line. Worst of all, the oral surgeon chipped adjacent tooth while extracting another. I've had extractions and oral surgery from other surgeons and this was also the most uncomfortable. I will not return and regretfully cannot recommend this local business at this time. Reply to business' response: I am an actual patient and have sent separate and direct message to the center to verify and hopefully dedicate sincere efforts to improve practices. I live in the area and would like the center to be successful. Please verify before you discredit a patient's experience.

I had my wisdom teeth removed a month ago and I had a phenomenal experience with this office. I have never had any major work performed on my mouth and went into this experience nervous due to the "painful, horrible" stigma surrounding this procedure. However, my experience was the exact opposite. Dr. Egolum was so nice and very informative during my consultation and eased my nerves the day of my surgery by telling me exactly what was going to happen and making sure I was comfortable before putting me to sleep. His staff is amazing as well. They called to check on me after I made it home and were so sweet when I went back for my follow up appointment. I would recommend this office to anyone who is in need of oral care!

A cut above the rest! I had multiple poor customer service experiences with a different oral surgeon's office in Bowie, of which I was referred by my dentist. I decided to find another office to handle the remainder of my implant. Google led me to Bowie Oral Surgery and I am over the moon at the high level of quality of service, timeliness, cleanliness of the facility and personable nature of the surgeon and his staff. If you are looking for a top notch oral surgeon in the DMV, Dr. Egolum is amazing!

The surgery (extraction) went flawlessly. Only very minor discomfort compared to previous dental work elsewhere. The surgeon and entire staff were very professional, friendly, knowledgeable and caring. I was kept involved and made aware of every step taken. I even received a follow-up call the next morning from a real person, not some impersonal automated service. I would recommend them for any dental work needed. 5 star rating. Outstanding service.

9.13.2021 I'm giving 4 stars to the doctors and medical staff. I'd give only 2 stars to the front desk, but the doctor and medical staff were so great that I don't want to lower their review score. Found out that my daughter needed her wisdom teeth removed just 2 weeks before she was reporting to college. After calling about 10 offices, this one gave me a same week appointment and soon after her wisdom teeth were removed. I told the front desk staff that I had 2 insurances, the main one and a dental one. Apparently I'm the only person in the planet with 2 insurances because it was like I was speaking a different language. They ended up charging me an amount, which was almost $1,000 more than what my insurances covered. It's been 6 weeks and they haven't even printed the check to send me a refund. It's funny how we patients have to pay immediately at most offices, but have to wait so long for them to issue a refund. I'd still recommend this office, the doctor and medical staff were truly great!
