Dr. Alexis Kirkland-Miller, a native of Brooklyn, New York, first fell in love with the D.C. metropolitan area while pursuing her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland College Park (Go Terps!). Upon receiving her Bachelor of Science in finance, she returned to her hometown to work for an investment bank. However, she soon found the fast-paced, strenuous work environment very unfulfilling.
Determined to have a career that made a difference in the lives of others, Dr. Kirkland-Miller decided to return to Washingtonto pursue a career in orthodontics. Dr. Kirkland-Miller graduated from Howard University with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery and a certificate in orthodontics. She also earned membership in the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society.
She is currently a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, National Dental Association, American Association of Women in Dentistry, Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontics, and Maryland State Society of Orthodontists. Dr. Kirkland-Miller regularly attends continuing education seminars to staycurrent of the latest technologies and treatment procedures.
Dr. Kirkland-Miller is a skilled practitioner, and passionate about providing orthodontic care to create straight teeth, a great bite, and ultimately a beautiful, healthy smile for each of her patients. She is just as committed to building strong relationships with her patients, and considers them an extended part of her family. Its this combination of professionalism and personal connection to her patients that makes Dr. Kirkland-Miller a much sought-after orthodontist for those who seekto improve their smiles and their lives.
When she is not in the office, Dr. Kirkland-Miller enjoys spending quality time with her husband Darcus and their children Aniya, Alex, Aaron, and Aidan. They love to travel and attend sporting events and concerts.
In our community, Dr. Kirkland-Miller speaks to health classes at Bowie High School, as well as local middle schools to help spread dental health awareness. She also volunteers at career days for several schools in the area. You mightalso see her in the stands of basketball games:cheering for Holy Trinitys middle school team, which her husband coaches.

My first experience here was nothing short of excellent. Everyone was friendly, and I felt very comfortable speaking and sharing my concerns with Dr. Kirkland-Miller. I would highly recommend Bowie Braces to anyone.

They are very professional and patient with teenagers. They take time to thoroughly explain the treatment plans and work with the parents on late or Saturday appointments. Bonus to have my teenage daughter see an all African American female staff. Empowering!

The service I received at Bowie Braces was impeccable. The reception staff, my patient coordinator, and last but not least, Dr. Kirkland we're all extremely pleasant. I felt informed of all steps throughout the entire process and everyone throughly answered all of my questions. Literally, a stress-free experience. I recommend this practice to anyone in need of an orthodontist.

Brittney was such a great help throughout the whole process! The front desk was so welcoming and I came to the back everyone was nice! Dr. Kirkland was also so nice and a great help! This is an awesome environment the energy is amazing! I am definitely recommending this office to friends and family :)

I have been a patient of Dr. Kirkland for a while now. And in that time, I have broken a lot of brackets and did not wear my bands properly. However, Dr. Kirkland and her staff were so patient with me and didn't make me feel bad for my mistakes. They are really a great set of people and they did a wonderful job with my teeth. My teeth looks so straight now and so well aligned. Dr.Kirkland did a really great job with my teeth. If you are suffering from open bites like I was, or over bites, and other teeth gap problems just come here and see if Dr.Kirkland and her staff can help you get fix that. I know they will do a great job on you, because they did such a great job on me.

This was my first time visiting Bowie Braces after years of contemplating whether or not to move forward with orthodontic treatment. I saw Britney and Dr. Kirkland today and both were exceptionally welcoming and thorough in the their approach and care. The office was clean and all of the staff I encountered were friendly. It was refreshing to have all of my options explained in-depth and have the ability discuss them openly and honestly. I am looking forward to continuing to trust Bowie Braces with my orthodontic care.

Communication is AMAZING! No only do they call you but also text which works due to being at work . My virtual appointment was just as informative as my in person consult. Brittney is super friendly & inviting, despite my not so flattering smile, she never made me feel uncomfortable about it. She was super gentle when taking the 3D X-rays & while examining my teeth. She communicated very move so there were no surprises. I'm glad that I called them and moved forward with getting my smile fixed. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming here.

From the first phone call received to make my daughters appointment I have been so pleased with the customer service. The communication between the office and patient is amazing. I have never received a text message from my doctors office following the scheduling of an appointment. When we arrived to our appointment everyone and I mean EVERYONE was so pleasant and greeted with smiles(behind the mask) but you can tell they were smiling. That let's you know the staff are being taken care of and treated with respect from the top down. When your employees are happy, management is doing something great. From Kourtni to Brittany are needs were met. They were very personable and made you feel comfortable, especially an 11 year old nervous about the possibilities of having braces. After the scans were taken (very thorough might so add) Brittany discusses options and other things which were very informative. She is very knowledgeable and patient. Anyone who can engage a 6 year old while providing information during the appointment gets a gold star. Now Dr. Kirkland... AWAZING! Great bedside manner, kind, and really cares about the quality of service. She is not trying to break your head with prices and she is fair in her approach. She is very knowledgeable and really wants what's best for the patient. Overall I was extremely please with Bowie Braces, I would definitely recommend her practice for your orthodontist needs!!!

The service here is the best you could ask for. They make everything easy to understand and are willing to answer any questions you could have. Also ask for Brittney. If you want someone that is a good vibe and would make the experience seem more relaxing and casual, she is the person to go to.

This is definitely the place you want to go for braces. More, importantly if you are choosing a place to take your kids. This is probably the most inviting and customer friendly atmosphere I have seen. Dr. Kirkland is operating a very professional practice and all of staff consistently work to maintain the welcoming and professional environment. Dr. Kirkland and her staff could literally teach a class on how to run a business and take great care of customers. If you are looking for a place for braces this should be at the top of you list.

The mark of excellent management originates with an innate ability to relate well with clients, staff, affiliates, etc. - no matter the challenge. The end product? Perfection! This Baby Boomer is so pleased with Dr. Kirkland-Miller's expertise regarding my orthodontic treatment using Damon Braces. My teeth are wonderfully aligned. Plus, there's an age related benefit associated with this self-ligating teeth straightening method. Thanks again, doc!

This was my first time visiting Bowie Braces and it won't be my last. My entire experience was more than amazing. Waking in I was greeted by two very friendly ladies. Britney and Dr. Kirkland gave me so much information to ease me into the transition of wearing Invisalign. Overall Bowie Braces is a clean, well organized, professional space with a very pleasant atmosphere.
