This was my first time here and I was completely satisfied with my decision. Dr. Caruso took the time to explain the procedure being done. He made me feel completely at ease. Gental and caring and the staff amazing. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great dentist in the Jersey City NJ area.

I had to change my review because I was very disappointed in my last visit. I came back for a cleaning. After two hours I was told I needed to get a medical test done before getting a cleaning. I was surprised and down because it was unexpected especially after waiting for so long. I have a clotting disorder but I understood the concern. I received an email from my insurance company aetna that one of my claims was denied. Curious I went ahead and looked. They billed my insurance for a procedure that wasn't done and not covered by my insurance even though nothing was done. Interesting enough was they did pay the covid preventative measures they bill that I was told last visit was what I paid the $40 dollar copayment fee because my insurance "doesn't pay" for that.i was very sad to learn I will be receiving a 100 dollar bill for services that wasn't performed. Update 2022: I received a bill more than a year later for 195 dollars. They charged me 4 times for 1 day cancelation fees each 25 dollars. Even though I cancel well before and rescheduled for the following disappointment of an appointment..then have the nerve to threaten me at the bottom with collections. Lol legally you can't over charge and then charge me for services never provided. So good luck

Dr. Caruso has done a great job working on my teeth. I had a root canal (very well) done and what a difference after my deep cleaning!

I am giving two stars because I had two root canals done by Dr. Caruso which were done quite well, if incomplete. Otherwise I would give one star due to the experience I had with Dr. Caruso. Dental work always seemed rushed, which makes sense as he was always running late and/or overbooked. I have had to have several fillings re-done at my own cost, as insurance will not pay for one tooth multiple times in a set period. There were a few instances when I advised the doctor that I was not numb enough, and was ignored until his assistant requested that he stop as I was giving the signal that I was in pain (I would give her 5 stars if I could, she was great). I would have let sleeping dogs lie and not posted this review, if not for the complete lack of integrity I've experienced since. I prepaid for my treatment, which is apparently pretty common in the dental industry, though I'd never experienced it before. We agreed on an aggressive treatment plan as I had quite a bit of work to be done and was planning to move out of the state a few months later. It was nearly $9,000 out of my pocket after insurance according to the treatment plan. It started poorly, with my first several appointments finding me in the waiting room from 1-3 hours prior to being seen. After the third time, I advised the doctor that while I understand people get busy and there are emergencies, my time was also valuable. We decided on a system where I would call before each appointment to find out when I should come in. This resulted in several same-day cancellations. Because of the cancellations, the work we agreed on and for which I paid was not completed before I moved out of state. This included placement of two crowns in the front of my smile. I scheduled a business trip to New Jersey around the appointment in August 2021 to get the crowns placed, however, the appointment was canceled the day before I flew to New Jersey, and I was unable to change my trip. One of the temporary crowns had come off, so I could not smile for about a month without embarrassment. After that cancellation, I advised the doctor that I would not be coming back and requested a refund of my pre-paid dental work that was not complete, as well as asking him to advise the insurance company that the crowns had not been placed - I would have had to pay out of pocket for new crowns because the insurance had already paid for them. The insurance issue was resolved. To date, I have not been paid back the pre-paid fees for work that WAS NOT DONE. I have had correspondence with the doctor, requested my records, etc. to no avail and with no resolution a year later. It appears that whomever is responding to these reviews has a common response to call the doctor to clear it up. You have all the information you need to refund my money, as I have sent it to you multiple times via email.

Worst dentist I've ever gone to. This dentist keeps rescheduling with the excuse that they're short staffed. If you already know you're under staffed then schedule accordingly and don't waste people's time. Beware of this dentist trying to give you a treatment plan and trying to charge you the whole treatment upfront. He tried to sell me on a 7000 dollar treatment that I really didn't need and told me if I didn't have the money that I could borrow it so he can get paid. Thank God I didn't agree to his complete treatment plan if not I would have been hooked with 7k and a continuous rescheduling issue. One last thing, I did end up having some dental work with him and he ruined one of my teeth which he was supposed to fill a cavity and instead he chipped part of it. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all cost.

When I came to this office, I was told that I would need several procedures done, which was confusing to me since I brush, floss, and mouth wash every day twice a day. After I consulted another dentist they told me my teeth were in perfect condition and I should keep up the good work. It was also a major hassle to get my x-rays from them and took way too long. Was not happy with my experience.

I recently remembered Dr. Caruso when looking for a dentist because my late mother (who was a cancer patient) came here a few years ago with an emergency, and they let her come in after hours. They also didn't charge her for the cleaning, just the tooth extraction. I've had a good experience also. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Thank you for taking care of me and my mother. Update: I just had a root canal, and it was painless. Nothing like I thought it would be. When you hear about it in the media, they make it seem like it's a painful and terrible experience. It was the complete opposite for me. Dr. Caruso and staff are always great.

I had a horrible experience at this dentist. First, my appointment was rescheduled twice. Then my appointment was supposed to be at 1:30pm. I arrived at 1:10 and was given paper work. I then proceeded to wait for an hour. No one came to give me updates or an ETA. When I asked why it was taking so long they said they were entering in my information (even though I was a new patient this should not have taken this long). I then continued to wait. At 3pm I was handed another paper to fill out and was told I would be seen very soon. At 3:30 I again went to the front desk to ask what was going on. I was then taken back. I sat in the chair for another half hour and was told by the dentist himself that he was sorry and that things were busy, they were understaffed, and they had an emergency patient come in. He said I would be seen in 10 more minutes. When 15 minutes went by I decided to leave. I spent 2.5 hours there and had not been seen. While he was nice about it, and I understand that life happens, this was inexcusable. I should have been told to reschedule again if I wasn't going to be able to be seen for hours. I missed a work meeting just to not actually be seen. The girl working up front was very rude and unprofessional as well. And when I called back to get my copay refunded, I was told the doctor would have to personally speak to me about it before I could be refunded. I was called again about the refund, and then told I had to wait to speak to the doctor. The doctor still hasn't called me. Overall this was a stressful mess and I would not recommend this practice to anyone. Time is valuable and mine was disrespected.

I am not very pleased with the office of Dr Caruso. My appointments have been canceled four consecutive times. I was given a different excuse on every occasion. I waited patiently for 4 months to see the dentist and saw him once for a cleaning, made an appointment for follow up and discussion of X-rays. Guess what happened! Another cancellation and rescheduling. I finally decided to cancel my appointment because this was no longer convenient for my schedule. In addition I have received a letter stating that I canceled an appointment that I NEVER made. This is truly not acceptable and it seems there is no respect for my time.

Great service took me in an emergency situation and I gotta say I felt a whole lot better on my way out than I did on my way in.

Dr. Caruso is a wonderful dentist who takes more than ample time to explain the treatment plan, educate, and patiently answer any and all questions. Despite some extensive work, the experiences are pain-free. Dr Caruso and his professional, respectful, and friendly staff transform an anticipated unpleasant experience into a truly relaxing one. I highly recommend this dental practice.

So very sad to report that I'm greatly disappointed in Dr Caruso. Great personality and a skillful dentist;. However, my appointments have been canceled four consecutive times... This is not acceptable and it seems there is no regard for my valuable time. I have decided to seek an alternate dentist. I wish him continued success.
