Dental implants are a popular option for patients looking to restore the look, feel, and function of natural teeth. Whether a patient is missing a single tooth, multiple teeth, or an entire arch of teeth, dental implants can be an ideal option for many successful candidates. Our oral surgeons at Boulder Oral Surgery specialize in dental implant-based tooth restorations and can formulate a treatment plan with your oral health, preferences, and aesthetics in mind.

During the surgical placement of dental implants, your oral surgeon will place the dental implant post into the jaw bone. This post is made of medical-grade titanium and is ideal for fusing with the surrounding bone for a secure foundation through a process called osseointegration. While the surgical procedure of placing the dental implants can be relatively brief as little as 30 minutes for a single implant it can take several weeks for the implant to successfully and completely fuse with the jaw bone.

When you come to Boulder Oral Surgery for the placement of your dental implants, our oral surgeons will make every effort to ensure you feel safe, comfortable, and informed throughout your treatment. Dr. Nedbalski, Dr. Chai, and Dr. Luter specialize in dental implant-based tooth restorations. From a single dental implant to a complete All-on-4 restoration procedure, we can design a treatment plan to restore your smile.

  • A natural-looking feel and function. Dental implants replace the entire tooth, root and all. Because the implant post securely fuses with the jaw bone, dental implants will not slip or fall out like traditional dentures. In addition, the visible part of the implant is custom-made to blend in with the rest of your smile for a truly natural-looking appearance.
  • Preserves oral health. When teeth have been missing in the mouth for a long time, bone loss is common. Bone loss can affect oral health by causing complications such as dental shifting, jaw misalignment, speech and eating difficulties, gum disease, and more. Because dental implants replace the entire tooth, including its root, they can prevent bone loss and preserve facial aesthetics.
  • Many patients are candidates. In general, patients who are healthy enough to receive a tooth extraction or another kind of minor dental procedure are healthy enough to undergo a dental implant procedure. Some patients may require additional procedures beforehand, such as a bone graft.
  • Dr. Nedbalski, Dr. Chai, and Dr. Luter at Boulder Oral Surgery are committed to providing the highest standard of care for their patients. The use of the X-Guide system assists in the surgical planning and placement of your dental implants by combining the advancements of cone beam 3D imaging with powerful navigation software. This digital system also allows patients the ability to receive their personalized treatment plan and implant procedure on the same day.

The X-Guide will be used during your surgical procedure. The X-Guide can produce 3D images of your unique anatomy to assist your oral surgeon in the optimal placement of your implants, resulting in a safe, accurate, and aesthetically pleasing placement of your implants.

Dr. Nedbalski, Dr. Chai, and Dr. Luter specialize in dental implant-based tooth restorations and utilize the most advanced surgical and diagnostic tools to achieve optimum results for their patients, including the X-Guide. With two convenient offices in Boulder and Longmont, we are always happy to meet with you to discuss your treatment plan.

With individualized treatment plans, a welcoming and knowledgeable care team, and experienced oral surgeons, Boulder Oral Surgery is dedicated to providing the finest oral surgery services in the Boulder and Longmont areas. We make every effort to keep the costs of our services down to ensure our patients can receive these valuable treatments.

There are several options to consider when looking to replace missing teeth. Dentures and bridges are quick solutions that do not require surgery. However, they do not prevent jaw bone loss, and many patients find them inconvenient to clean or eat with. Removable dentures must be taken out during meals, which can lead to feelings of embarrassment.

The time it will take you to recover from your dental implant placement surgery may vary from someone else receiving the same procedure. On average, it takes several weeks for the titanium implant post to completely integrate with the bone between three and six months. Your age, the condition of your jaw, lifestyle, and more will all play a role in how well and how fast you heal.

Wisdom teeth are the last molars to grow into the mouth, usually between the ages of 17 and 25. However, many dental health professionals recommend removing wisdom teeth before they are fully developed and erupt into the mouth due to the oral health problems they are known to cause.

Third molars, or wisdom teeth, usually emerge between the ages of 17 and 25. These are the final molars to grow in. Early monitoring of developing wisdom teeth is important when determining the best time for removal because its very common for these molars to cause problems even before symptoms arise. For many people, there isnt enough room in the mouth for these four extra teeth, and without enough space, wisdom teeth can cause damage to adjacent molars or become impacted (trapped beneath the gums). In fact, wisdom teeth are the most likely teeth to become impacted. To avoid the potential oral health problems that impaction can cause, such as infection, crowding, pain, cysts, and more, most dental professionals recommend early removal of wisdom teeth.

When you have been recommended for wisdom teeth removal, your dentist can refer you to an oral surgeon, such as Dr. Nedbalski, Dr. Chai, or Dr. Luter. Your oral surgeon will thoroughly examine your condition and review X-rays and another diagnostic scan to formulate the ideal treatment plan for you. Your options for anesthesia will also be discussed with you. Your oral surgeon will also take the time to answer any questions you may have about your treatment.

  • Easier procedure and recovery. When wisdom teeth are removed before they erupt into the mouth, they tend to be smaller and underdeveloped. This makes the surgical process of removing wisdom teeth easier, which also helps with recovery.
  • Avoid oral health complications. It is common for wisdom teeth to impact oral health when they are left untreated, causing complications such as infection, pain, and dental shifting. When wisdom teeth are removed as a preventive measure, many of these issues can be reduced or even avoided entirely.
  • Dr. Nedbalski, Dr. Chai, and Dr. Luter treat patients of all ages at Boulder Oral Surgery. With practices located in Boulder and Longmont, CO, they can diagnose and treat your condition with personalized treatment plans and the highest standard of care.

If discomfort, redness, or swelling is present behind your back molars, or if you experience an unpleasant taste in the mouth, your wisdom teeth may be impacted or infected. If you experience any of these symptoms, we encourage you to call your dentist.

In general, most people do not have the extra space for four more molars in the mouth. Your dentist will be able to monitor your wisdom teeth as they develop using X-rays or other diagnostic scans, and they can refer you to an oral surgeon when it is time for them to be removed.

Wisdom teeth are often extracted while they are still beneath the gums, which makes for a more invasive procedure than a routine tooth extraction. Oral surgeons have received years of education and training beyond dental school to be able to practice the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including the safe administration of anesthesia. Because of their specialized training, oral surgeons are able to remove wisdom teeth and address any oral health or surgical complications such as impaction and infection.

Most patients are recommended to follow a soft diet for three days following their wisdom teeth removal surgery. Your oral surgeon will provide specific pre- and post-operative instructions for you to follow to ensure optimal recovery and minimize your chance of complications. Our standard pre- and post-operative instructions can be found on our website.

All-on-4 is a great tooth replacement option for patients who have extensive tooth loss and decay and require replacement of an entire upper or lower arch of teeth. The All-on-4 can provide patients with a newer, healthier smile in as little as one procedure.

All-on-4 is an innovative procedure designed for patients experiencing severe tooth loss and decay. Using as few as four dental implant posts, your oral surgeon can place a permanent and natural-looking prosthesis to restore an entire upper or lower arch of teeth.

The surgical procedure involves your oral surgeon implanting the dental implant posts into the jaw bone. The dental implant posts are strategically placed for optimum strength and stability. The dental implants will need to heal over the next several weeks as they fuse with the jaw bone. During this time, a temporary prosthesis may be worn.

There are many reasons why patients and oral surgeons are smiling about All-on-4. Not only is the final prosthesis secure, but it is also permanent because the dental implant posts have fused with the jaw bone. This also means that the dental implant posts act as the tooths new root, which works to stimulate the bone in the jaw and preserve bone loss. The All-on-4 also tends to result in a faster recovery, and additional procedures may be reduced or avoided entirely.

great and professional office. much better than my previous one in town. already sent 2 people over here if they need something major done. seriously, the office manager/head doctor should be immensely proud of all their staff, from the surgeons to custodians.

No one likes extractions. If there's no way around it, Boulder Oral Surgery is just about perfect. Friendly, great pain management (there isn't any), and caring follow-up.

I had the most wonderful experience of having something difficult to face made simple with much much less fear!!! Dr. Nedbalski is super friendly and clearly skilled at making his patients feel comfortable and confident in a good outcome of what feels insurmountable. I had to have 6 teeth extracted as a result of poor oral hygiene. I was able to recover almost pain free the first 72 hours due to the availability of a sustained release local anesthetic. I was able to continue on a non narcotic pain medication schedule provided by the staff. I am out 3 weeks and have been healing really really well. I am now out of general pain and can continue getting the remainder of my work completed. Thank you Boulder Oral Surgery and Dr. Nedbalski!

I really appreciate Dr Nedbalski and his administration. Dr Nedbalski is very skilled, thorough, and gentle. I choose to go outside of my PPO dental insurance, just to see him, because I believe he provides the best overall experience. I am very confident and comfortable under his care. His Admin staff is also excellent. I once asked some questions regarding different procedural choices available and they were very knowledgeable and helped me to confidently choose the best plan forward, for me. I would most definitely recommend this office to any friend, family member or acquaintance. (55 year Boulder native too. )

They got me in for an emergency wisdom tooth pull surgery within less than 24 hours. I think that alone says enough of how much they care for people, and upon surgery they were extremely nice and told me everything I needed to know. Extremely efficient work that has cause absolute no pain or issues. Would highly recommend!

I got all four wisdom teeth removed, and I am terrified of dentists and have impacted lower teeth, but Dr Luter preformed the procedure very quickly and I don't remember a thing. He also called to check in on me afterwards and gave clear aftercare instructions in a package.

I found myself in a unique situation where I needed to get my wisdom teeth out immediately and Boulder Oral Surgery and Dental fit me in the next day! They were super helpful and nice, and Dr. Nedbalski answered the phone over the weekend and answered all of my questions which was extremely helpful. Given the urgency of my situation, and the fact that I had to get this done not at home (I live in Boulder for school), I was extremely stressed about the procedure but this office most certainly relieved most of that stress. I would definitely recommend coming here for your oral surgery needs.

Horrible bedside manner. Dr. Nedbalski belittled my medical history (specifically medicinal allergies), questioned a diagnosis i received from another Dr. that was not part of his specialty, and spoke down to me as if I was exaggerating medical experiences I had in the past. I would definitely not recommend going to him if you have any sort of complicated medical history.

My experience was incredible!! I was very nervous at first as the procedure that was needed had never been attempted on someone as old as me (making it considerably more challenging) I woke up an hr later just as Dr. Nedbalski had predicted. He and his team did such a great job stitching me up, that one would never be able to tell any procedure was done at all (unless you saw an x-ray) The coming days, I expected a painful recovery, but to my amazement I couldn't believe how good I felt and how throughout the day I'd almost forgotten about my stitches because of how good of a job they did concealing them. I cant say enough about the amazing experience I had at Boulder Oral Surgery and will recommend to everyone that extra special care Dr. Nedbalski and his amazing staff can only provide. Thank you so so much for starting my journey to a perfect smile!!!

My deepest gratitude to Dr. Luter for the capable and comprehensive care I received following injuries I suffered in an accident while visiting Boulder. I was taken into the office promptly and received the full attention of Dr. Luter and his assistant for about 90 minutes until all injuries were addressed. While the accident itself was traumatic, once I reached Boulder Oral Surgery, I could tell that I was in good hands. Dr. Luter rocks! Thank you so much!!
