I've never had to file a review of a bad experience with an oral surgeon until now. I recently found myself in Clayton S. Harper, DDS, MD's office at Boulder Creek Implant & Oral Surgery. My primary dentist had discovered a red area on the bottom of my left tongue and strongly encouraged me to visit an oral surgeon for a professional opinion and possible biopsy. On June 23, I had my first scheduled appointment with Dr. Harper. He looked at my tongue area for a couple of minutes and told me he thought that area was being aggravated by rubbing against some rough tooth surfaces. I was presented for a bill in the amount of $239 and informed that my Delta Dental coverage would not cover any of that "specialist visit" expense. He sent me back to my primary dentist to discuss the tooth surface theory and to return after a month for a follow up visit. Kat, the front desk receptionist, told me there would be no additional charges for the follow up visit in one month. After consultation with my primary dentist and some tooth smoothing, I returned to Dr. Harper's office on August 23 for my follow up visit. He proceeded to tell me how much he had been fishing throughout Mexico during the summer. He reviewed the tongue area again and suggested we proceed with a biopsy, "just in case." His assistant began to numb that area of my mouth. Kat then brought in an invoice while I was in the chair numbing up. There was a $55 charge for an "oral evaluation" and $224 for a "soft tissue biopsy." She slipped me a small piece of paper telling me I would be charged an additional $240+ for tissue processing and diagnosis. When I questioned the $55 charge and what she had told me previously, she said that would be the charge. She agreed to immediately discuss this with Dr. Harper. She returned shortly and told me he refused to honor the no cost follow up visit. A couple of minutes later, Dr. Harper entered the room and asked me if there was something bothering me. Getting more numb by the minute, I questioned him about the surprise $55 fee. He dug in, got defensive and refused to honor that promise. I explained I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. His reply was, "We are all on fixed incomes!" This is after telling me how he had been in Europe for 5 weeks earlier in the summer and recent multiple fishing trips to Mexico. This, from a man with the initials DDS and MD after his name. He said he did not appreciate the energy coming from me and suggested we stop the procedure. After being sedated and wanting to have the biopsy done, I decided to go ahead, even with some apprehension about how he would perform the biopsy in his defensive and defiant state. Kat scheduled an appointment to review the biopsy results the following Tuesday. She called Monday and said results were not in. A new appointment was set for Thursday morning. I showed up first thing and was told no results were available. She said Dr. Harper was scheduled to leave town for another 6 week vacation, and it might not be until October 11 before I received my test results. Dr. Harper was in the office that morning and told me he would personally call me as soon as the results came in after tracking them down that morning. 24 hours passed with no call. After follow up with Kat, Dr. Harper finally called me with a negative test result. 11 days to get a test result from a lab in Aurora! When I received the bill for the biopsy, it was $320! I have to say, Kat, his front desk assistant, tried to be very accommodating and comforting throughout my unfortunate experience. Her compassion vs. Dr. Harper's coldness, defensiveness and dismissiveness was a stark contrast. In addition, I also witnessed Dr. Harper's use of profanity and foul language. This is not the kind of professional I would care to do business with at any future date. The entire experience was very unprofessional, rude, stressful, humiliating and unfortunate. I truly hope no one else has to ever go through this with Dr. Harper.

Couldn't have had a better experience, all of the staff are amazing and Dr. Harper made the process go so smoothly. I felt very well informed going into the procedure and any time I had a question the team at Boulder Creek was available. I'd highly recommend them!

Got my wisdom teeth out here. Super nice, booked me for 2 weeks out, and did the surgery then. I don't remember the surgery, and they made a point of doing the anesthesia so that I wasn't loopy when I woke up. I got 4 teeth out, and didn't feel any pain afterward, and I didn't even need heavy painkillers. I had a bit of soreness but within 4 days it was gone and I was able to go back to parkour and hiking with my friends.

Great crew. I was pretty scared of getting a tooth extraction and implant, but Dr Harper and team put my mind at ease and it has been as close to a painless experience as one can have with oral surgery. Would absolutely recommend.

I got my wisdom teeth pulled here back in January of this year. I received nothing but professional care from the people who work here and Dr. Harper made sure to make himself available if I needed any questions answered during my recovery process. The information they give you at the end of the procedure is very beneficial and concise, and they make it easy to schedule follow up appointments and are more than willing to work with you to do so.

Dr Harper removed my wisdom teeth and overall it was a great experience- the staff was very kind and they were willing to help me at all costs during my recovery. Dr Harper even provided his cell phone number in case of emergencies which gave me a lot of relief prior and during the recovery process.

I visited Dr. Harper for my wisdom teeth surgery - Dr. Harper and his team were incredibly friendly, thorough, & attentive. The surgery itself was as pleasant as any surgery experience could be. Post-surgery care was manageable and helped me heal quickly. Whenever I had a concern or was uncomfortable, I just called the office and they attended to me immediately. Would highly recommend!!

Boulder Creek Implant & Oral Surgery is excellent! After the care I've received in getting my wisdom teeth removed, I'd definitely recommend. Dr. Harper did a great job with the wisdom teeth extraction and I barely had any pain in the week following the surgery. I was so surprised at how good I felt even the day of! I was particularly impressed that Dr. Harper called the evening of the extraction, as well as the two mornings and evenings afterward to make sure everything was okay, even on the weekend. They said if I had any concerns, I was welcome to call and they seemed to care and willing to help. They provided detailed instructions for brushing and taking medications, and I never had to use the big pain killer (just ibuprofen). I was able to go on walks and bike rides the following day. I believe that Dr. Harper also went the week before my surgery to donate his skills in Peru, which is a highly valuable thing to do! Kat at the front desk was extremely helpful, friendly, and hilarious. Before my surgery, I asked a lot of questions about pricing because I'm on a budget and she went into all of the details for me, while making the conversation enjoyable. She's very witty and kind. The Anesthesia Certified Dental Surgical Assistant, Gulden Sarin, seems like a badass and made me feel like I was in good, well-experienced hands for the extraction. She mentioned that she's done this many times and is very well practiced. The office itself is clean, nicely decorated, conveniently located, and has a great view of the flat irons. A truly great experience!

I had a complicated procedure that I had put off for some time due to a bad experience from my previous surgeon. I was referred to Dr. Harper by a family member who was aware of my reservations and said this was the place to go. During my consultation, my concerns and fears were completely removed, and I decided to go ahead with the operation. Dr. Harper and his staff were amazing pre and post-op and the procedure was done so well, my recovery time and discomfort were incredibly minimal. I am now on a regular treatment plan with my current dentist, referred by Dr. Harper, and owe a lot to the entire Boulder Creek Oral Surgery team for getting me on track with my oral health.

Dr. Harper and his team did an outstanding job on my wisdom tooth extraction. The office staff is friendly and professional, while the team has patience and understanding around pain and nervousness. I was really afraid, but the process was simple, fairly painless, and I felt cared for every step of the way. Thanks Dr. Harper and team!

After waiting for over an hour past my appointment time, Dr. Clayton rushed into the treatment room and asked why I was in. I explained the reason for my visit--I was to have a biopsy done on a potentially cancerous sore in my mouth. He incorrectly repeated what I said, so I corrected him and he immediately accused me of being immature and having an attitude. Then he refused to do the biopsy I took a day off of work for, was told my two other medical professionals that I needed and told me I was being hyperbolic and again, immature. I would not recommend this facility or this doctor, at all. I am frustrated and alarmed that he has his license and treats patients this way.
