The Brownsville Community Development Corporation (BCDC) was incorporated in 1974. Since its inception the corporation has offered a wide variety of services to the residents of Brownsville and surrounding neighborhoods.

'The Brownsville Community Development Corporation 's (BCDC) vision is to ignite a total health and wellness revolution that creates significant and lasting positive change in the communities we serve.'

Joseph Francois was the former Chief Executive Officer of the Brownsville Community Development Corporation and the founding Executive Director of Brownsville Multi-Service Family Health Center. Mr. Francois, who passed away on July 13, 2003, was a tireless and passionate advocate for the people of Brownsville, Oceanhill and East New York. It was his leadership and vision that shaped the corporations mission as a social change agent. We are ever mindful that his legacy is in our every achievement. On May 11, 2006, the BMS Health & Wellness Centers (BMS) held a dedication ceremony during which the BMS Life & Wellness Center, one of the Health Centers seven service sites, was renamed, BMS Life & Wellness Center: Joseph K. Francois Pavilion, in honor of Joseph K. Francois, the late founding executive director of BMS.

Federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) include all organizations receiving grants under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act (PHS). FQHCs qualify for enhanced reimbursement from Medicare and Medicaid, as well as other benefits. FQHCs must serve an under served area or population, offer a sliding fee scale, provide comprehensive services, have an ongoing quality assurance program, and have a governing board of directors.BMS board is comprised of a majority (at least 51%) of active, registered clients of the health centerwho are representative of the populations served by the center. The governing board ensures that the center is community based and responsive to the communitys health care needs.

The ACO concept is one that is still evolving, but it can be generically defined as a group of health care providers, potentially including doctors, hospitals, health plans and other health care constituents, who voluntarily come together to provide coordinated high-quality care to populations of patients. The goal of coordinated care provided by an ACO is to ensure that patients and populations especially the chronically ill get the right care, at the right time and without harm, while avoiding care that has no proven benefit or represents an unnecessary duplication of services. BMS Participates with Community Care Brooklyn.

Meaningful use is using certified electronic health record (EHR) technology to:Improve quality, safety, efficiency, and reduce health disparities. Engage patients and family, Improve care coordination, and population and public health, Maintain privacy and security of patient health information. Ultimately, it is hoped that the meaningful use compliance will result in:Better clinical outcomes, Improved population health outcomes, Increased transparency and efficiency, Empowered individuals, More robust research data on health systems

BMS earned The Joint Commissions Gold Seal of Approval by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commissions national standards for health care quality and safety. The certification award recognizes BMSs dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commissions state-of-the- art standards. BMS is the only free standing health center in Brooklyn with Joint Commission Accreditation.

The PCMH is a model of healthcare based on an on-going, personal relationship between a patient, doctor and the patient 's care team. Whatever the medical needs primary or secondary, preventive care, acute care, chronic care, or end-of-life care the patient has a medical 'home'; a single, trusted doctor and care team, through which continuous, comprehensive and integrated care is provided. BMS Main, BMS ISIS @ Bristol and BMS @ Genesis all have attain PCMH Level III the highest recognition level for this program.

The 340B Drug Pricing Program requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to eligible health care organizations/covered entities at significantly reduced prices. Eligible health care organizations/covered entities are defined in statute and include HRSA-supported health centers and look-alikes, Ryan White clinics and State AIDS Drug Assistance programs, Medicare/Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospitals, childrens hospitals, and other safety net providers. This program allows us to offer affordable medications to our patients.

This has been the worst experience ever. I went to the center to get relief for tooth pain and the dentist did a filling, my mouth was still on fire a week later. I went back and the head dentist took out the old filling out and put in a new one. Here we are in January and I'm feeling the same pain. This is the worst dental service I have ever received in my entire life. Also, they use cheap materials to fill in my tooth I've never had an off-color filling. It looks like I have a piece of gum stuck in my tooth instead of a filling.

I've been going to this dental place since I was little & they always do great with my teeth cleaning, place is clean & they know exactly what they're doing. Great place and definitely recommend

The dental department staff has been causing problems for me for over two years. Imagine I had to return 10 times to adjust my denture and it broke after 3 months while eating. I am getting a do over at the kind courtesy of efficient Office Manager Mrs. Elizabeth Campbell and dentists Dr. Hercules. They have been successful in calming me down and are working feverishly to resolve the issue and have my new denture available soon. However, the 2 gatekeepers who are the receptionists are making things very difficult. They are very vindictive, unprofessional and disrespectful and don't even answer the phone when you call. We have to call Mrs. Campbell a d ask her to schedule appointments for us. Recently the unprofessional receptionists made my daughter and I waiting for 5 hours before seeing the dentists because they put us in to be the last patients of the day. Then the male dentist failed to treat my daughter but spent the time talking with his back to her lecturing her about teeth brushing. When I rebuked him he put me out of the room and as I stood by the door and looked on he whispered to her so I couldn't hear what hw was saying and never communicated with me. He never touched her mouth and never prescribed any pain medication to relieve her complaints. All his secretary did was to take xray. Very poor service! These receptionists need training in customer service and Dr. Hercules and Mrs. Campbell should be the ones to train them because they are so good. Thank you Dr. Hercules. Thank you Mrs. Elizabeth Campbell. I had to transfer my daughter. So sad!

One of the worst dentist I've ever been to. They literally lied to my husband and said they cleaned his teeth when they didn't. When I went they did an x-ray and barely cleaned my teeth. She cleaned my teeth in less than 60 seconds. When I questioned her, she told me to stop smoking. What that heck does that have to do with cleaning my teeth . They are unprofessional, from the front desk to the dentist.

I had to give this place a review because they were all excellent. From the front desk to the back rooms all great customer service. My dentist name was Stephanie and she has help me with all my issues with my teeth and I got everything done by her faithfully. She is the sweetest and she makes your feel really comfortable. I would recommend this dentist to everyone if their insurance allows them to go to this dentist I would say go see Stephanie.
