At Bluegrass Pediatric Dentistry, our goal is to help children, adolescents and those with special needs achieve optimum oral health through excellent and compassionate dental care. As a specialized pediatric dental practice, we take very seriously the responsibility of caring for children. By working in partnership with kids and parents, we believe every child can begin their life with a healthy smile.
Dr. Zak grew up throughout the south and northeastern US. He completed his undergraduate degree from Asbury College, his dental degree from the University of Kentucky, and his Pediatric Dental Residency from Northwestern University of Chicago. He returned to Central Kentucky to practice pediatric dentistry. He enjoys the outdoors, running, traveling, barbequing with family and friends. Dr. Zak also enjoys traveling and frequently participates in dental mission trips around the world. He and his wife, Beka, have two young boys, James and John.
A native of Eastern Kentucky, Dr. Lucas completed his undergraduate and dental degree from the University of Kentucky. He practiced general dentistry in Paducah, KY before pursuing his two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry, also at UK. He enjoys playing golf, cars, fishing and watching UK basketball and football. He also enjoys traveling and frequently participates in dental mission trips around the world. Dr. Bowen and his wife, Amy, have two children, Ava and John Luke.
Dr. Kevin grew up in Lexington with a large family. He met his wife, Lauren, while in college at Transylvania University. Upon finishing dental school and GPR at University of Kentucky, they embarked on a two-year adventure in Chicago for residency and two more spent in private practice. In 2016, they moved back to Lexington and Dr. Kevin has been practicing at BPD ever since. Kevin enjoys his new role as father to William, hiking the foothills of eastern Kentucky, teaching Sunday school, and subjecting his sometimes willing family to all kinds of culinary experiments.

This is where I will continue to take all 7 of my kids! I cannot say enough good things about the dentists and hygienists, and all the staff here!

We had gone to this office for 10 years. They had always been great. Today I showed up to my twin 4 year old sons appointments and they had cancelled them without my knowledge. They stated that since my other two children had been seen in another office (to get a second opinion) they just ASSUMED we weren't going to keep our appointments today. I rearranged and planned for these appointments all day, because that's what you do with 4 children, and showed up just to be told that they cancelled because of an assumption. I told her that I never received a phone call to have a conversation if I would like to cancel my appointment. Then, instead of the receptionist trying to correct the problem, she continues to look through the computer to come up with how to prove me wrong. I am disgusted on how I was treated and will be glad to move our business to another dentist office. We will also be going somewhere that offers more options to older kids who are scared. Other than gas and general sedation. General sedation requires intubation and I will not be putting my kids through that for a tooth to be filled unless it's absolutely necessary and every option was tried. Especially when there are less invasive and LESS EXPENSIVE ways of doing it. Overall, It doesn't matter how wonderful the doctors are, if their staff are rude and unprofessional they will lose business. If you don't believe me, read all the other negative comments. They are all very similar.

the lady who was with me today, she asked for my pronouns and i thought that was really sweet. she was so nice and made my experience today really enjoyable. the other dentist there also talked to me about marching band and they were just both really nice to me the whole time :)

Great group of individuals They are wonderful and helpful. My kiddos both enjoy their dental experiences and I can most always count on them being understanding. I really enjoy using this practice for my kids.

Clean and welcoming. Everyone was friendly. Wait time was just a few minutes. Cleaning, X-rays, and next appt. Scheduled. Took my concerns into account and decided on appropriate treatment. We are pleased with this office.

My five year old had surgery today and the doctors made her feel so comfortable and let her watch a movie before surgery and the surgery went so well that she's already up playing and eating dinner with us . Wonderful people !!

We had a very short wait time before being called back. They are very efficient and kind. They take concerns from the child and parent seriously and are good at calming fears. Great staff!

Everyone from the doctors to the staff treats us with the upmost respect, and they are always quick to help answer all questions. My kids never mind going to the dentist, which is always a plus.

First off, they got my granddaughter in on the same day that she was referred to them by her dentist. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The dentist took her needs into consideration and done a wonderful job pulling her tooth without pain. He gave me options for further treatment and I trust his judgment on making the right decision that is best for my granddaughter. The communication with them is awesome. I could tell they really care for their patients. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a great experience.

We have thoroughly enjoyed using Bluegrass Pediatric Dentistry for our kiddos. The staff is always so kind and helpful, the dentists are top-notch, and all of them are always willing to answer any questions or explain any process. The office itself is very kid-friendly and creates an atmosphere of ease for nervous little minds. My kids have had completely stress-free dental visits here, which we are so thankful for. Highly recommend this place!
