Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of children by providing nurturing, high-quality dental care that is personalized to exceed each individuals needs and expectations in an environment that is welcoming and fun.

We offer many services to help your child grow and maintain a beautiful smile including extremely thorough and gentle exams and cleanings, laser healing light treatments, zirconia (white) crowns, frenectomies, and minimally invasive care when appropriate. A comprehensive examination with the Bluebird Pediatric Dentistry team allows us to develop an oral health plan tailored to your childs needs. Preventative, restorative, and behavioral patterns will be taken into consideration when formulating a plan for the patient. We will monitor your childs growth and development, provide anticipatory guidance, and look for variations from the norm. Our advice will take into consideration of modern evidence-based dentistry and combine that with your child's specific needs. Lets work together to develop a conservative and modern plan for your family. To help little ones get the care they need without creating a fear or phobia that can carry over into adulthood, we offer several means of treatment and techniques to best treat the needs of each child, including those with special needs.

Keeping your childs comfort in mind, we also offer services in a modern treatment bay with space for parents as well as a private treatment room with a TV on the ceiling and dimmed lighting for an optimal patient experience. We encourage active participation by parents and love that they can see how gentle and caring we are with their child. Parents can be present during their childrens visits so they can offer support and comfort to their child and benefit from the education we provide.

Our compassionate team provides high-quality dental care to kids of all ages that is personalized. At Bluebird, we strive to create memorable and fun dental experiences where you and your child are treated as part of our own family. Whatever your dental needs, come visit us for the kind of quality, convenient care that means healthy teeth and gums and beautiful smiles!

Your children are so much more than just patients in our office, they are part of our Bluebird family. It is our goal to do more than just fix teeth, and we invite you to join us on that journey! We want to make a difference in the world and create a whole new generation who likes coming to the dentist and understand that value. We strive to make a positive impact on your lives. We feel it is our responsibility to make the place that we live and work better than we found it. We hope you will join us in spreading smiles throughout the community.

From the time your child grows their first tooth until they are ready to move on to an adult dentist, our doctors and their team will help care for and protect your childs smile. Because children are so different from adults, we take a unique approach to every patient. We treat our patients as if they were our own and we want each visit to be a fun, educational visit.

'I love the staff in the boone office. I 'm so grateful we have a pediatric dentist locally that accepts my daughter 's insurance and that has staff who are patient kind and all around great with her. A huge Thank you and we cant wait until our next visit.'

Dr. Martha Hardaway enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has two adult stepchildren who live in Brooklyn and Philadelphia. She has lots of fur-babies, two dogs and two cats. Hiking with the dogs is one of her favorite pastimes and she has set a goal to visit all 41 North Carolina State Parks. Dr. Hardaway enjoys reading, but even more than that she enjoys audiobooks where someone reads the book to her! Seeing live music also brings her lots of joy. In the past few years, Dr. Hardaway has started playing tennis and loves it. Her team this year is undefeated and qualified to play in the USTA State Championships this June. She keeps trying to be a successful beekeeper, but so far is failing at that. If you didn't already guess, she really loves birds.

Dr. Hardaway finds time to volunteer her skill set to help children in underserved communities. She has traveled to the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Mexico on dental mission trips for many years. Her next trip will be to Mexico in February 2022.

Dr. Hardaway got involved with organized dentistry early in her career and remains committed to this volunteer service to this day in hopes of being part of the betterment of the profession. She served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry (SSPD) from 2007-2020. She served in many roles for the Society and was honored to be the President in 2016. Currently, Dr. Hardaway serves as the District III Director on the Board of Directors of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is an active member of the Tarheel Dental Society, North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southeastern and Southwestern Societies of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and the College of Diplomates.

Before all that, she went to school for a long long time. She received her undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After a few years working in biology research including pediatric endocrinology, one biology, and evolutionary biology, she earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She then returned to UNC where she completed a three-year advanced education certification in pediatric dentistry. She jumped through all the additional hoops to complete her board certification, becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also honored as a Fellow by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry for service and leadership in her field.

Dr. Hardaways desire to pursue pediatrics stemmed from her love of helping children that began as a lifeguard and swim instructor and continued through pediatric bone disease research and culminated in her final career choice as a pediatric dentist. She has extensive experience treating the preventive and restorative needs of children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs. She strives to create an environment that is nurturing for both children and their parents.

Dr. Parisa Tashakkori grew up in Boone, North Carolina, and is thrilled to return to her hometown! We locals call this the Boone-erang. She is excited to have an opportunity to practice pediatric dentistry and serve the community where she grew up. Dr. Parisa loves hiking, climbing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She shares Dr. Hardaways love of honey bees and birds.

Dr. Parisa also went to school for a long long time. Right here in the High Country, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biology from Appalachian State University. She then moved to Greenville, North Carolina, where she attended East Carolina School of Dental Medicine and upon graduation was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society as well as presented with the Academy of Dentistry International Student Servant Leadership Award. While in dental school, Dr. Tashakkori was involved in many leadership and service groups such as dental student government, academy of pediatric dentistry, and interprofessional health science leadership council, to name a few. After graduating from dental school Dr. Tashakkori moved to Durham, North Carolina, where she was a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and worked in private practice for a few years where her passion for pediatric dentistry grew. She decided to pursue a specialty in pediatric dentistry at Bon Secours St. Marys Hospital Pediatric Dentistry Residency in Richmond, Virginia, where she trained in hospital and community dentistry treating a diverse patient group with a wide range of dental and medical healthcare needs.

Bria joined the team in August as a dental assistant and we are ecstatic to have her in the Bluebird family! Bria graduated the dental assisting program at Wilkes Community College in August. Prior to that, Bria graduated with her high school diploma and an Associates in Art degree from the Wilkes Early College in 2020. She is looking forward to growing and gaining experience in the pediatric dental field here at Bluebird Pediatric Dentistry.

In addition to dental assisting, Bria is a fur mom to three cats, Bebe, Pepper, and Fidget! In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, watching movies and photography. Bria loves being able to catch a moment full of memories and treasure it with a photograph.

The staff was so welcoming and amiable. This was my child's first dental visit, and she felt very comfortable. Everything was explained to her before each dental process so that she understood what was going to happen and why. Staff members were calm and understanding with each patient. All of my questions were answered and all of my concerns were addressed. I am happy with the choice to bring my children to Bluebird Pediatric Dentistry.

Our visit went so well. There is a lot to be done on our two year old granddaughter, but the doctor was just wonderful with her. Nevaeh loved playing during the brief time she waited, and couldn't wait to get done so she could go back to playing. If they only accepted her VA Medicaid!

We thought my 4 year-old had broken her tooth on July 4th and Dr. Hardaway was SO wonderful to meet us at her office for an exam on the holiday! We're from out of town, so we weren't even regular patients! She had a wonderful manner with my daughter and was very helpful and kind to this worried mama. If we were local, she would be our dentist for sure!

I and my son had a great experience. The first visit at the office was great. Dr Hardaway was kind, paitence and answered all my questions and understood my anxiety. My son had to be put to sleep at the Boone hospital to take care of some teeth issues and Dr Hardaway and the staff there were so paitent and kind with my 4 year old autistic son and me as a nervous parent. His comfort is his tablet or mama's phone and one of the staff let him watch his phone(so mama could have her phone) before going to sleep for surgery. That was incredibly kind. Overall Dr Hardaway and Watuaga Medical Center are good and I'd use both again if needed. But let's hope that doesn't happen. Great pediatric care. Understanding and paitent of all kids needs no matter their developmental struggles if any. As a parent of a autistic child thats all I care about. Thank you Dr Hardaway and staff at Watuaga Hospital for a good experience.

I think I was more nervous than my daughter about having two baby teeth extracted. It was over so fast and the staff at Bluebird was amazing! She did so well and I would recommend them for any pediatric dentistry needs again and again and again!

I had my sons oral ties revised and not only was this affordable in comparison to other places off the mountain I felt like the care was excellent. This is such a gem for us in the High-country: access to quality affordable care that otherwise would not have happened. We will definitely continue our children's dental needs here for as long as we are in the area.

Dr. Hardaway and her staff are phenomenal. My son, Bryson, is 4 and enjoys going to his dental appointments. Everyone is so kind, personable, and knowledgeable. Bluebird is the best pediatric dentistry we have been to. Thank you, Dr. Hardaway! Our clan appreciates you.

My 4 year old daughter loves this office! They explain everything in a way she can understand and helps her to feel very comfortable. She's had a tooth pulled and baby root canal at this office where they had to put her under anesthesia and she still loves to visit her dentist! Grateful for such a great group of people to grow with!
