After obtaining an undergraduate degree in chemistry, Dr. Knechtel completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. He then worked as a general dentist for four years before returning to Yale-New Haven Hospital to complete a residency in Pediatric Dentistry. During his residency, he received additional training in treating the pediatric patient and their unique dental needs. After finishing his residency, he completed the certification process of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry obtaining diplomate status.
Amy graduated from the Dental Assisting programat AB Tech in 2008. Her number one goal is patient comfort. She likes to make children smile and feel at ease at their visit and make it an enjoyable experience. She is an Asheville native and has a daughter named Skylar. She likes to spend her free time with family and friends, going for walks, shopping and reading.
Jessica graduated a semester early from East Tennessee State University in Dec. of 2010 with Bachelors Degree. She has extensive experience as a Front Desk Representative. Her main goal is to make the paperwork/billing side of your dental experience easy and painless. She loves children and loves to make people smile. She likes to spend her free time with her little dachshund Choco and her husband, Hctor. She loves to dance and watch movies.
Valerie is a native of Asheville, but is new to the field of dentistry. She is eager to learn all that she can, and is enjoying working with Blue Ridge Pediatric Dentistry team. In her free time she loves to spend time with her family and pets, and travel to new places. Valerie also loves to paint.
Martha is a graduate from AB-Tech. She loves the staff here and enjoys working at Blue ridge Pediatric Dentistry. In her free time she loves to hangout with her loved ones, go dancing, and watch movies.
Megan is another local to the area of Asheville, and began working with us as our sterilization tech in 2018. She has really enjoyed working with her co-workers and loves that we are having fun while also working hard and getting so much accomplished. In her free time she loves hanging with family and friends, being outdoors, hiking, exercising, and listening to music.
Sheila graduated from Asheville Buncombe Tech School in 1997 and began working in general dentistry. She switched to pediatrics in 2000 and realized thats where she belonged. She has now been in the dentistry field for over 20 years. Sheila is married, has 3 beautiful children, and is a grandmom to 2 precious boys. In her spare time, she loves spending time with family, enjoys hiking, sewing and baking whenever she can.
Mariela is a recent graduate of the AB tech dental program. She is originally from Florida but has lived here in Asheville since she was 3 years old. In her free time she loves to read, watch movies and go hiking around town with her sweet dog, Toby.
Nila lives in Asheville & has been in the dentistry field for over 12 years. She has always enjoyed working with children and loves that about our office. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, her 4 children and her boxer, Rocco. They love to get outside and go for hikes in the mountains.

Dentist looked mother up and down at the end of an appointment, is not interested in communicating fully, seems put-off by follow-up questions. Far worse, he did nothing to explain to my child the treatment she was about to receive, and when she was very clearly struggling and uncomfortable, there was no space given for her to be put at ease. The immediate response to her shifting in the chair was directing her to just stop. I found this and his manner horribly irresponsible. I asked for the treatment to stop and give an explanation to put her at ease. This did happen, but it was half-hearted. My daughter thought she had done something wrong. This is not the message she needs to receive. I would never recommend this dentist to any parent.

Employees are great with the kids, but do not get a 2nd opinion. Dr. Dan will discharge your whole family. I took 2 of 3 children to another dentist & received a discharge paper for all 3 of my children, personally signed by Dr. Dan Knetchell. I had my kids seen by another dentist due to lack of options for payments on dental work.

Dr. Dan and staff are always so friendly and welcoming to me and my daughter. They are thorough, accomadating and efficient. So happy to have such a great dentist and staff for my daughter (3 years old).

We love this place!! Every time we come we are treated so kind, everything that's going on is explained in a way I understand and it's just overall an enjoyable place to come! My son has been coming here since he had teeth and my daughter just had her first appointment. Dr. Dan and his staff are superb!! My 6 year old had to get some fillings and is not scared at all. The treatment is excellent. My children both get a sweet little dentist pack filled with fun things at the end of the appointment. I seriously can't say enough great things about this business and the people who run it.

We have had nothing but wonderful experiences here. The staff is absolutely amazing and we love Dr. Dan. One time we accidentally showed up an hour earlier than our scheduled appointment time and they worked to go ahead and get us in. My daughter just had a cavity filled there and was so nervous, but Christy instantly calmed her down and made her smile. I'm convinced you won't find a better pediatric dentist!

The best dentist by far my children are comfortable and relaxed every time they go. The visit's go smoothly and quickly they have got a great system set up. Dr. Dan and his staff are a great group and offer amazing care for my children I am so thankful for them.

We love coming here! Dr Dan is very professional and knows his stuff! I trust his decisions when it comes to my childrens teeth! Christy is the best dental assistant I have ever met! One of my kids always has her and she is hands down the best there is! Always makes the kids feel comfortable and has the most positive attitude!

Great experience with my 5 year old. While in the office she was very nervous. Christy was very calming, and explained everything that would happen. Dr Dan worked quickly (which is important to an impatient 5 year old). She was a little emotional after the procedure, but Maggie (the most precious pup) cheered her right up!

Today we had a procedure done to my seven year old that I was not given complete explanation until we saw the gas mask and my son became very anxious and fearful. Dr Dan seemed not to have any empathy for what my son was going on. Even I felt so many emotions after the procedure. My son left this place shocked.
