It pained me to see my mom not able to eat because of her uncomfortable metal partial denture. Since receiving six implants to replace the teeth she was missing, she can now enjoy all of the foods she loves without the pain or embarrassment of the partial.
Taking my time to build communication and trust is core to how I practice. When patients are informed and engaged, they are able to make knowledgeable decisions and develop better oral and overall health practices. That is what I want most of all: to help people lead and enjoy healthier, happier lives!
Growing up, Dr. Baqi was drawn to dentistry at a young age. His parents both suffered, for most of their lives, from bad teeth and complex dental problems. He wanted to change their lives and, after dental school, he was able to do so. Seeing his parents able to once again savor their favorite foods and smile with confidence is a highlight of his career!
Dr. Baqi was raised in Smyrna and graduated as salutatorian from Smyrna High School. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Delaware with his Bachelor of Science in biology. Next came dental school and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
Knowing he could bring an improved patient experience to his community, Dr. Baqi opened Blue Hen Dental in Smyrna in 2017. His practice has grown through referrals from his patient family, when people tell friends and neighbors about the painless, effective, and personalized care they receive!
Dr. Baqi knows many of his patients children and adults can be anxious about visiting the dentist. He strives to break down that anxiety and help each person feel comfortable in the dental chair. By using pain-free techniques, and always with a patient and gentle touch, Dr. Baqi and his clinical staff help people overcome their fear of the dentist.
Dr. Baqis lovely family includes his mom and dad, sisters and brothers, and amazing nieces and nephews. Sadly, his father lost his brave battle against kidney cancer in 2020. Before his passing, he taught his son the importance of working hard to achieve ones dreams and the ferocitynever to give up. Now Dr. Baqi hopes to inspire a new generation, just like his father inspired him!
Dentistry is not only Dr. Baqis profession: it is also, after family, his passion. He and his friend and fellow dentist, Dr. Ed Bailey, enjoy working on dental innovations in their free time. So far they have created new techniques useful in dental surgery and a light curing device called the Curing Cube!

And our front desk team does an awesome job of scheduling patients on a timely basis:making sure everyone understands their treatment and financial responsibilities, and accommodating personal situations.
I am the first and last person our patients see in our office! I welcome them with a smile, check them in, and schedule any needed treatment. I enjoy seeing people transform and build their confidence throughout treatment. There is no greater feeling than completing treatment and seeing a beautiful smile!
I am from the great state of Texas. My husband serves in the United States Air Force and that is what brought me to the Diamond State. We enjoy spending time outdoors, trying new restaurants, and watching sports. I also like coffee a latte!
I graduated from the dental assisting program at Delcastle Technical High School in 2016 and joined Blue Hen Dental the next year. At the office, I enjoy meeting new people and helping them improve their smiles. Whether I am assisting Dr. Baqi during a procedure or going over images and X-rays with patients, I feel like Ive made a difference in a persons life and helped them have a positive dental experience.
I do just about anything you can think of that helps the office run smoothly. Dr. Baqi provides excellent care, and our patients have an amazing experience! I have a great time here watching Dr. Baqi and our team transform our patients smiles and giving them their confidence again. At home, I have two beautiful daughters, a crazy dog, and a wonderfully supportive husband! When Im not at work, I enjoy crafting, interior decorating, and planning projects for the house we are building!
I went to Paul M. Hodgson Vocational Technical High School, graduated in 2015, and have been a dental assistant since. As our clinical supervisor, I train and mentor our clinical staff in order to hone their skills and to maintain a high level of ethical and professional standards. My favorite part of my job is being able to give patients their confidence back, and seeing how much we can make a difference. I love being able to make a high-anxiety patient feel comfortable and have them trust us, because its never an easy step after a bad experience. We want nothing but the best for our patients, and treat them that way!
I attended Delaware Technical Community College (Wilmington) in the dental hygiene program, where I graduated in 2017. Having joined the Blue Hen Dental team the next year, I work one on one with patients as a guide through their oral health journey. I try to make it as comfortable and informative as possible, so they look forward to coming back! Its also a lot of fun to work with the kids!
I am the first person patients interact with when they arrive and the last person they see when they leave. I greet everyone with a warm smile and bid farewell with more smiles! I coordinate insurance benefits and ensure treatment plans are ready for the day, too. As a main point of contact, Im always ready to answer questions and am happy to help! With my bachelors degree in business management, I bring many skills to our office and love using them to help our patients. We have an amazing fun and laid-back environment where we do great dentistry, all thanks to Dr. Baqi and this team!
As our GM, I oversee the operations of all the branches by managing staff, overseeing the budget, employing marketing strategies, and ensuring quality service is delivered toall of our patients. I also work very closely with Dr. Baqi to create treatment plans that work both clinically and financially for the patient. I love seeing our patients and employees build great relationships with each other. It feels great knowing that everyonetrusts us to take care of their families dental needs!
I am a Smyrna High School graduate who went on to the University of Delaware to study business. I am a current member of the University of Delawares Horn Alumni Council, where I can help make decisions to improve the quality of the program for current and past students. I am also an avid hiker and have hiked most of Delawares state parks!
