is a Carmel High School student with Autism. He has never let this disorder stop him from being very active in his community, school, and various clubs. He has participated in show choir, orchestra, Best Buddies, student government, dance marathon, and Carmel High School Television; just to name a few things. He has also just started working at his first job.
Blake also loves to sing and play music. He plays violin, guitar, and piano andhas performed the National Anthem at several Autism Speaks events, Carmel High School basketballand lacrosse games, and a Virginia Tech University Baseball game.
Blake 's favorite thing to do is smile, and to make sure everyone else is smiling too. He notoriously will ask 'Is it fun?' if he sees someone around him who isn 't smiling - in hopes that he can find out why, and do his part in turning their frownupsidedown.He has created Blake 's Smiles in the hopes he can raise awareness and funds for variousorganizations whichsupport of Autism, all while spreading smiles within the community.
started as a summer project for Blake. His father, Steve Dauby, recently built him his own art studio in their family home, and was looking for ceramic projects to keep Blake busy while school was out.
The concept of Blake's Smiles is simple - sharing smiles! Blake handcrafts, glazes, and fires the ceramic puzzle piece smiles in his art studio. Each smile is unique and perfectly, imperfect, just like its recipient.His hope is that his pieces can bring a smile to those who are in need of one, all while raising Autism awareness and raising funds to give back to some of Blake's favoritecharities andorganizations.Blake also hopes that the recipientsof his smileswill pass the pieces onto others who may be in need of a smile.
