Dr. David Smith is a Montana native who grew up in Lewistown. He completed his undergraduate education at University of Montana and is a graduate of the State University of New York- Stony Brook, where he earned his D.D.S. degree. Dr. Smith then completed a year of general practice residency in general dentistry before specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed a 6 year dual degree program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, earning an M.D. at Weill Cornell Medical College as well as a year in general surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital- Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Smith began his dental training volunteering as a dental assistant in a federally funded dental clinic for the underserved. He was drawn to the profession and service of others thanks to the dedication and compassion to patients demonstrated by his mentor, Dr. Ryan Huckeby. Dr. Smith works to emulate his role model in all aspects of his career; he has volunteered his services in a cleft lip and palate mission with Smile Bangladesh, in addition to a dental/medical outreach trip to remote areas of northern Madagascar with the Madagascar Ankisy Fund.
Outside of the office Melissa enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends, and dog Famous. She enjoys playing softball, painting, working out, and watching sports with her husband James. She loves spending time at the beach and being outdoors.

I have been putting off getting my wisdom tooth pulled for years and decided I needed to put on my big boy pants and get it done. Went in to Bixby Oral and Dr. Smith and his staff did such a great job I wish I would have came in sooner. I had little pain afterwards and little to none after that. Hats off to Bixby Knolls Oral

My 19 year old son had his wisdom teeth pulled and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Dr. Smith and his staff were incredibly nice and supportive. My son's recovery was easier than I had imagined and the staff welcomed any questions we had the week after surgery. I would one hundred percent recommend Bixby Knolls Oral Surgery!

I usually don't write reviews but I had an exceptional experience at this practice. I was looking for places to get my wisdom teeth removed and was very cautious and particular on where I wanted to get them out. I went to 3 other places prior to this one, and was going to settle on one of those because I was running up my insurance bill and tired of searching, but thank God this place was recommend to me at the last minute. I decided to give it a try and so glad I did. The ladies at the front desk were kind and informative and Dr. David was knowledgeable and straight to the point. The office is clean, well kept and sanitary. My procedure went very well and so did the healing process (which I was a bit nervous about). My pain after the procedure was a 2/10 very very low, similar to a slight headache with puffy cheeks lol. I know the healing process will be different for everyone so still get all the prescribed pain killers just in case. My only critique would be that I wish I would have gotten a breakdown of the my treatment estimate initially instead of the general numbers written on the reminder card. I'm not sure if I would have received the breakdown if I didn't ask, so I would say just ask after the consultation that way you'll have a closer estimate of your out of pocket pay. Other than that, I had such a great experience and I definitely recommend giving this place a shot!!

The first time I visit here the energy was Beautiful!! I can't express how comfortable I feel having fear of dentists they made me feel So at ease! We've had a great experience here. My son had his wisdom teeth out here and my daughter had some ortho extractions done. The doctors are great and take the time to listen and explain everything. The office staff is friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend!

Dr. Smith and his staff does it again! I really appreciate them squeezing me in for a dental emergency. I had extreme pain for the last few nights and I called them and they pulled up my insurance and put me on their schedule the next day. Extraction of my wisdom tooth went extremely well and it was very quick - didn't believe it was out. Felt no pain during the procedure and Dr. Smith explained everything that was going on and helped with my anxiety. He addressed all my questions/concerns thoroughly. Thank you so much for your help - would highly recommend!

I needed a tooth extracted and it was an emergency! Luckily, I happened to find this place in a google search. I chose them because they were close to where I live, but my experience was so positive that I would travel to this place even if I didn't live close by. The whole staff was friendly and kind, and the doctor explained everything clearly, numbed me perfectly, and got me in and out so quickly and painlessly, I couldn't believe it. Their office is super nice and high tech, which made the x-ray experience fast and easy. They were also in network with my Aetna PPO insurance plan, so my out of pocket was unbelievably inexpensive. I honestly cried when I found out how little it cost compared to what a dentist was about to charge me 3 days ago. I am truly grateful to this place and highly recommend them for all of your extraction, implants, and other oral surgery needs!
