Dr. McCarthy received his orthodontic training while serving in the military. During his ten years in the US Army, Dr. McCarthy rose to the rank of Major and served as a Green Beret. He is a board certified orthodontist with nearly two decades of experience and has been recognized as one of Americas Top Dentist by the Consumer Research Council of America every year for the past decade.
Dr. Hartman was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society while at Meharry Medical College and received several honors including the Academy of Operative Dentistry student award and the American Association of Orthodontists student award. She was awarded the Faculty Award in Orthodontics while at Howard University for having the highest academic average in her post-graduate orthodontic class. This year Dr. Hartman was recognized as one of Americas Top Dentist by the Consumer Research Council of America. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Rivers is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies, and finished second in her class at The University of Alabama Birmingham where she received honors such as Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the Leon H Schneyer award and the Hinman Scholar award. Upon graduation she completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham where she treated some of the most complex dental cases. She remains active in her church and community and currently serves on the Make-A-Wish Advisory Council.
While at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Feinberg was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and received several honors, including the American Association of Orthodontists Award for Exceptional Interest in the Development of the Oro-Facial Complex and the Quintessence Award. Dr. Feinberg published her original research in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics. She maintains active memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists and the Southern Association of Orthodontics. In her spare time, Dr. Feinberg enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Graduate of Auburn University, Summa Cum Laude. Received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Received her Certificate in Orthodontics and Master of Science in Dentistry degree from the University of Texas at Houston.
While at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Dr. Pugh was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and received several honors, including the Dr. William S. Kramer Award of Excellence and the Deans Academic Distinction Award for finishing first in her class. She maintains active memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists and the Southern Association of Orthodontics. In her spare time, Dr. Pugh enjoys cooking, staying active outdoors, serving the community with Church of the Highlands and spending time with her family.
While serving his country in the United States Army, our founder, Dr. McCarthy, was searching for quality orthodontic treatment for his daughter. To his dismay, he soon discovered that because of high treatment prices and the lack of available financial options (options like no-down payment, lower monthly payments, and interest-free financing), orthodontic procedures were basically unaffordable to most people on military salaries. It was then that Dr. McCarthy decided to dedicate his life toward opening and managing an orthodontic practice with one simple goalto make getting a better smile affordable to everyone. Or, in simpler termsto help his community smile more.
Our mission has remained unchanged since first opening our doorsto provide affordable orthodontic treatment while never sacrificing quality. I feel I'm constantly being forced to listen to talks about major surgery right in front of my 12 year old daughter. The first time that did this it traumatized her. But they continue this conversation about her underbite getting "worse and worse" right in front of her. I don't like this at all. They also tried to tack on a 30 dollar no show charge to a visit I neither scheduled nor received notification about. I'd go somewhere else if it was close and convenient for sure

I have always had a great experience here at Birmingham Orthodontist. My children began their treatment here first. I loved the people so much I decided to get my braces here. Lori is the best! She remembers her patients by name which is awesome. Dr Hartman is outstanding and caring!! This team is why I chose to have both my daughters and my braces done here!

Was referred here by my Cleaning lady at the dentist. Glad she did because it was everything & more! Staff was great, still following CDC guidelines to protect themselves and us Great overall experience happened fairly quick consultation and braces put on in the same day. Reasonable prices and no interest rate. Use my name if you want 125 off your braces

Our experience is always great. My daughter is in and out with a great report every time. Although we drive from Montgomery, it's never an issue getting here and so far we've been lucky to avoid traffic at the Alabaster location.

This is our second go-round with Birmingham Orthodontics - Alabaster. We used them 9 years ago with our older daughter and had an awesome experience, so why wouldn't we entrust them with the baby of the family. The professionalism was always topnotch and you can't beat the price. We are looking forward to working with Dr. Hartman and her entire team.

This place seems nice but it's not. They only want your money. I went to get my teeth done at Birmingham Orthodontics and twice that I went they are ended up hurting me. The first time that they hurt me was when they were putting in the metal onto my braces and the employee had almost let the metal go down my throat! I had to catch the metal with my teeth! The second time that they hurt me was when the one of the employees were pushing the metal through my braces but it wouldn't fit and she kept pushing the metal through three times and it hurt really bad! I had pain on my upper teeth for the rest of the day! I just hope you guys make great decisions and find a different orthodontist place for your teeth! Thank you!
